Did anyone else see the irony that Michael, who poured Meredith’s “one of everything” drink at the beginning of the episode is the same guy trying to convince her she has a problem with alcohol?
I’ve got to say, I normally agree with your reviews, but Moroccan Christmas is hands down one of my favorite all time episodes of The Office. It’s the one I keep going back to when I feel like turning on the show and I don’t want to start back at season one. The hilarious snarkiness of Phyllis in this episode, the hysterical way Meredith is literally dragged into the rehab center, the sheer joy of Michael as a bar tender, the wildly inappropriate corporate gift (given the situation), and then the shock of Phyllis actually blurting out Angela’s dirty secret--I love every second of this episode. It’s nice to see Phyllis win one after years of being pushed down by Angela. And it sets up for what has to be my second favorite episode, The Duel.
The intervention montage was gold. I actually love this one, I kept thinking how sweet and caring Michael was in this and I think that was one of the purposes, to show he can care about someone else especially during Christmas. And I loved that they addressed this issue with Meredith, gave her space to shine and also worked with what they had set up for her character. Also, love how Phyllis proved she was brave enough to tell the truth.
The problem with scalpers is they actually remove value from the proposition. Everyone from the manufacturers to the stores are at least either producing the product or providing access to it… scalpers just throw up an additional barrier so that they can jack up the price. The internet has made it far too easy to do this.
Honestly I love this episode. I get why you rated it 3/5 but for me, it's not only the best christmas episode, but overall one of the best, although not as memorable as some other great ones. I love the way they tackled this difficult topic, especially since a lot of people struggle with their addictions around the holidays since there is often a lot of alcohol. So I think it fits really well. But like I said, your opinion is totally valid as well!
I love the early season Christmas episodes. Just lots of good vibes. It’s like how reading Harry Potter made me want to go to Hogwarts, but I would want to be at one of Michael’s Christmas parties.
Yea Ed Helms is amazing I personally love characters like him because the reaction he gets from the other characters. I also like tod Packer for the same reason
I can't stop thinking about the Pam becoming Meredith if she stays with Roy theory after watching this. There are a ton of similarities between the two.
Looks like there’s a desk up against the annex wall with the break room on the other side. You can see the vending machines through window on the right. I never noticed this! It’s the same window that Toby knocks on to tell Andy and Dwight they have to stop playing Take Me Home Country Road
"In sixth place, we have season six's secret santa....LOL!!" That seriously made me laugh! way to go Chris, another great field guide. I do REALLY like this episode but I don't LOVE it. I agree with your rating 100%. One of my main issues with this episode is when Michael chases Meredith around the parking lot and then drags her into the rehab center. That's always been a HUGE cringe moment for me, similar to Scott's tots. Idk why, it just makes me so uncomfortable. Great editing and commentary on this episode though. Thanks so much for the work you put into it!
Lol I'm watching this on Groundhog Day! The episode is one of my faves. I know the darkness brings down the Xmas cheer BUT it adds a ton of realness to the show. Many alcoholics have their addiction peak during the holidays. The stress of the season along with pressure to be merry (and fully enjoy the open bar at various parties) is a boiling point. If an alcoholic is going to have an incident, it tends to be at that time. Unfortunately seen this play out at holiday gatherings with my own family. I was naive enough to think the person wasn't even drinking, which my therapist assured me if someone is alcoholic and not in recovery, then almost guaranteed they're smashed by noon if not sooner:/ So yeah it sucks but at least it's one less saccharine sweet holiday special and might even make ppl with holiday blues laugh that while their situation isn't great, at least no one light themselves on fire.
I thought it was weird when Toby rightly stops the intervention, Michael shortly afterwards asks for the number of a rehab facility, like why give Michael more ideas?
Ed plays the banjo and if you can play a string instrument like a banjo or guitar can fiddle around on most stringed instruments and play some stuff. Even a sitar.
Ahhh that would make sense as to why I enjoy this particular Christmas episode so much: I’m not cringing my way through at Michael and one of his man-child episodes
I like this episode mostly (and it's exhibit A of why I despise Phyllis) but the showdown with Michael trying to drag Meredith to alcohol treatment grates on me.
My thoughts are both Angela and Meredith are doing things that harms themselves and others around them. They are both engaging in destructive behavior that effects everyone in the office and it is left to others to point this out to them. Also Meredith joking she is an alcoholic is very different from being told she is one. as people we make fun of ourselves but if others do it it hurts.
Hey there are episodes of Season 9 that are trying their very hardest to be even half as good as your earlier season 3/5. 3/5 is average relative to an episode of the Office, right? So I think a normal episode of the Office deserves 3/5 if you’re talking about it statistically ✌🏼
I’ve watched this episode 1000 times and never noticed how Dwight does “the 5 finger method” wrong. He does it backwards. Was supposed to start with his hand open and count down until his hand was in a fist 😂 what a hidden gem
I agree with you on the 3 out of 5, wasn't my favorite ep. A bit forgettable really, the only thing that really stood out for me in this one was the whole Dwight is sleeping with Angela moment.
My favourite character is Andy. And i thoroughly dislike Pam and Jim. It's a personal thing, my opinion wont change. I just find P&J mean-spirited, and Andy is just flawed but trying to be better. Its really hard to be in this fandom.
This is one of my least favorite episodes just for that it crams SO much cringe into one episode, it's a lot to handle for me. It's not bad so much as a hard watch. I actually LOVE Michael Scott's cocktails
I would not call Dwight an evil person because he bought out all those dolls and Sold them privately. I would say he is smart and looks for opportunity and is proactive. Remember he had to do a lot of research to find which doll will be popular and risk his money by buying all those dolls. He could have made a mistake and would have lost his money. The idiots would be the parents who wait until the last minute to but the doll and also the parents who did not do research about which doll to get. You can do the same too and make good money but first you have to do the research and spend money (invest). But a lot of you won’t do it as you’ll just be haters.
But remember he is compensating a bit for all the 4/5s and 5/5 from seasons 2-4, he is trying to make a comprehensive and fair analysis, and is doing a great job :)
Did anyone else see the irony that Michael, who poured Meredith’s “one of everything” drink at the beginning of the episode is the same guy trying to convince her she has a problem with alcohol?
The black Princess Unicorn moment is just... perfection.
"She's burnin". Stanley Hudson. He says it in such a matter of fact way.

My least fav Christmas episode
@@johnparker4484, totally entitled to your opinion, but I will love it til the end of time. 😂

Brave enough but wish it could have been a little bit more organic to how assertive Phyllis usually is. Very out of character
Seeing Meredith lick the hand sanitizer... There’s gotta be a quarantine joke in there somewhere 🤪
she wants the alcohol lol
"I... a watch would be nice" kills me every time

3:09 Dwight is probably in the annex at the dest by the window into the break room.
Edit: You can even see the vending machines in the window.

"Footage Not Found", and the ukulele! Great Arrested Development reference (running gag, theme music instrument).
What?
"THIS WAS A SUCCESSFUL UNVEILING!" is actually one of my favorite lines that I've always remembered.
I was just laughing about that line with my wife!

3:07, Dwight is in the annex where Gabe’s desk is
Yea Ed Helms is amazing I personally love characters like him because the reaction he gets from the other characters. I also like tod Packer for the same reason
I like how you say “groundhog’s day” instead of Groundhog Day. I think it sounds like a holiday for groundhogs which I can get behind.
?? its not a holiday for groundhogs??

3:03 Dwight was at the desk that would later be Gabe's.
The Bog, Cooper's, Kelly's. Love the vids!

I thought it was weird when Toby rightly stops the intervention, Michael shortly afterwards asks for the number of a rehab facility, like why give Michael more ideas?
I think they all assumed he had somehow convinced Meredith to go to rehab
Dwight is sitting where gabe eventually sits the window looks into the break room.
15:54 for the Michael and holly thing.
Creepy when one of the ads on this video was for a rehab clinic.
15:17 ...Nate, is that you taking the picture??
As always, apt analysis! Shouldn't be afraid to give out 3/5's when they are warranted. :)
That edit was hilarious! Nice work.

I don’t have time code but I saw the Easter egg this time usually I totally miss them lmao
Can we remember when andy sang the most perverted lyrics to kesha's take it off ever
Judging from the plaques on the wall, I'd say that the Dwight/Unicorn Doll shot was taken in Michaels Office...like anyone cares.🙃
Dwight might be in front of the window to the breaker room.
I just noticed that Dwight counts with his hand thumb-1st, like zee Germans.
Ahhh that would make sense as to why I enjoy this particular Christmas episode so much: I’m not cringing my way through at Michael and one of his man-child episodes

A little late now but a rating scale of 1-10 would have been a much better idea. Too many episodes and variables not to have it sound repetitive.

I did! Don't view this on tv...larger than life isn't a good look for me!
By the way dwight is in front of the annex window that looks into the break room, at gabes future desk
Andy sings part of a Steel Panther song in this episode.
15:54 Michael & Holly rapping!
Hooper's, Kelley's, and Poor Richard's
I was hoping Andy was going to play Little Drummer Boy, but i think that would have been too sad
Meredith looks like Jen Psaki in a couple years after working with Biden 🤣
Ed Helms is super talented
Glad to see Ed/Andy get some well-deserved love for a change. 🙂
