Honestly, you two are amazing. I love you both. I feel privileged to witness Aladino's ceaseless progress and tireless skills. He is a unique soul who displays caring, persistence, (humor), and strength. Maya, whose artistic nature precedes every effort, has pushed beyond her limitations to apply needed artistry with sensitive eyes and skilled brushwork. What a team! There will soon be a time when they will be sailing this artful vessel to far-off lands. Every time they glance at a careful seam or a lacquered panel they will remember these efforts. Tanti bravi.
I stand in awe of the work both of you do. Alidino is amazing at figuring out all the steps to get his jobs done and Maya does incredible work with the varnishing and painting and deciding what would look best. She is a true artist. Can't wait to see some episodes from Vancouver.
Nice little touch of jig while Aladino stomped on the plywood! 😂! Great episode, guys. Big goals are worthy of whatever effort it takes. Keep plodding forward and we all will be watching you circle the globe in your beautiful home. Cheers from 🇨🇦.
@@casybond admittedly, my comment was made half way through when I think she was genuinely happy with how the varnishing of the inside was shaping up and transforming the interior. Yes, this project has clearly taken a toll on Maya's sole, but it is wonderful to see her able to have moments of joy again....as she should... What they are able to accomplish as a team is nothing short of amazing!! Even their "corner cutting" work puts all other's work to shame!
I can't wait till the boat is finished but I will truly miss you and Aladino working on that boat. It will be a work of art when finished. I am going to love watching you two sailing the world !
"I'm really proud of us." And so you should be. You two are really rocking it. So great to see the cockpit coming together so quickly. And the interior looks fabulous. Great design decision to let the wood accents stand out instead of the tratidional dark wood everywhere look. It's looking really comtemporary now.
It's both modern and also traditional with the white panels surrounded by wood trim in the Herreshoff style. The look reminds me of the interior of the newly refitted _Galiana,_ a Swan 55 of Tapio Lehtinen. You can see a recent tour of that boat by Juho from @AlluringArctic - that boat is entering the Ocean Globe Race!
Grinding away at something you find challenging is often, with the benefit of hindsight, something that will form the most rewarding memory. Maya, don’t lose heart about your own stresses. It will all add to the joy you derive from the end result.
I’ve commented on the wonderful storytelling before, but dang Maya, the soundtrack for every single episode is on-point! How do you find such perfect accompaniment for every scene?? Amazing progress on the project and a great episode as always, thank you both for sharing ❤
The solutions you’ve chosen for the interior are not only practical in both short and long term, but also look fantastic! The white paintwork makes the space seem much larger and the extra light it provides allows the satin varnished woodwork to sing beautifully. Getting the cockpit and deck done and ready for fairing must be a real boost for both of you. Well done, you’re bringing MC2 back to life as she deserves, she’s going to be a fantastic and deeply satisfying boat to live and make great memories aboard. Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻
We can't say enough about your honed skills in wood working, fiberglassing, and generally all building skills Aladino!! Kudos to you for your Valient efforts in giving the big girl a new life, your work is truly Refined and Beautiful!! We saw your diligence, talents, and mindfulness in all those efforts!! Kudos also to Maya for your artful work and help seeing the jobs through!! We wish you and Maya a safe trip north and look forward to seeing more fruits of your labour! 🎉❤
These are the days you'll look back on with the sweetest of nostalgia and love for all the blood, sweat, and tears you've both given in the pursuit of this beautiful dream.
Love Maya's enthusiasm for the satin finish varnish, you deserve to be very very satisfied with the result. It looks wonderful and will contibute to your comfort onboard, with the added bonus of it being your own painstaking work, that's a precious experience to be surrounded by the craft of your own. All the careful preparation of the cockpit and decks, pays off handsomely now the reconstruction happens. I would add another layer of glass to the cockpit sole, good enough for dancing, landing fish. Now I wonder if future boat building robots will be called Aladinoids?
The teak trim is looking absolutely spectacular. The satin finish really accentuate the chitoyance of the wood. And the yellow ceder tops.........speachless!
What a fantastic couple you are your work ethic is second to none . I’ve watched you for quite some time now and I’ve seen and felt your ups and down’s , you can be very proud of yourselves. Best wishes from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
Greetings from the Great Lakes... My wife and I always enjoy your channel!! Keep up the great work and "there is light at the end of the tunnel... Enjoy your journey"!!
I've never seen you work at this kind of pace before. Willing to compromise where it makes sense to use filler rather than re-cutting a new plywood sheet (that will be covered up anyway) is a big step haha Absolutely beautiful, the way she is turning out!
Wow! Just an amazing build, I hope once you start your adventures people will have a chance to see the boat in person ( a meet & greet maybe ) and congratulate you both on your determination. I can only imagine the next 30+ years for you both. XX
I remember Maya being so nervous and disheartened now she just naiking out tasks like a PRO! Well done. Alideno mate graet job also! She (the boat) is looking very good 👍
IMHO red wines can be the perfect pairing with chocolates. Nothing beats pizza with beer. My two favorite foods here are Alaskan King Crab and Maine Lobster with real butter of course. Cracked a tin of Moroccan sardines - damn good stuff.
That satin finish is just *gorgeous*! Beautiful job, Maya! Dare I say that it looks like you're finally finding some real satisfaction in what you're doing? I'm so glad to see you feeling good about the project again. Long projects can really try our patience. And, man, Aladino, you're really motoring on the epoxy now! It's coming together SO fast. I was out kayaking on the inlet of Thetis Island off Chemainus yesterday and thinking about you guys as I watched people with their sailboats in the autumn sunshine.
4:35 not sure why, but Mya's soothing voice means sooo much to me. Just talking or singing. Please sing more in your videos, I also love your music choices for your videos.
Wow, what a well oiled team you two make. The boat is looking amazing. Your so lucky to have been able to use that workshop. (What a bonus) keep up the good work & I'll look forward to catching up next week,👍. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
Maya said she was surprised, the aesthetic exceeded her expectations. Then she immediately set a record for her perkiest episode. If she only knew it was going to be so damn cool maybe she wouldn't get so down some times. Alidino on the other hand can not only see the finished product better but is constantly improving it as he goes. That's why he says he's proud - because he executed to the plan in his head. Speaking of Maya - it's not the same starting an episode without your lick! Not many intros I would say I missed seeing!
Wow, you two are like a well oiled machine and the work is outstanding and top notch! Fantastic job! I know you'll get to finally enjoy the work when you are out sailing and enjoying life and the fruits of your hard labor.
I have nothing more than great admiration for the fabulous job you both have accomplished as your rebuild takes shape. Thanks for taking me along you all this time. Cheers!!
This is just amazing! You both should be so proud of your accomplishments. Every thing you see around you on this yacht you will know what it took to get there. What a good feeling! Carry on!
@04:07 👴😂😉 Good on you. Once again the right choice (sorry Maya...)👴🤭🤗 Yes Aladino, it shows it was the balance needed to soldier on. Great, and good progress both!👴🤗
The cockpit is really looking nice and, with all the time and extra hard work, it’s getting to the point where it can be stored outside safer too. The wood finishes really look amazing and anyone would be very happy with the results. The painting on the older parts really does help the newer finishes to stand out nicely.
Both of you are absolutely the best! I want to live your life so badly! The skills that you both possess are incredible! Much love from North Carolina!
Congratulation to both of you for the fabulous videos and the beautiful refit. It's so refreshing to watch a couple work to a common goaI. Your patience and perserverance will pay off with years of happy cruising. I'd very much like to visit you and your master piece, please let me know where and when? I'm on Vancouver Island.
Hey guy's I'm the guy who is fighting osteomyelitis. I've been home a few days, working on the adjustments to being home after five months. As always your content takes my mind to the work shop for a bit , great content a always
You really switched on the overdrive this time - warp 7 at least! One remark if I may: the cabin area forward of the galley and the chart table is really nice and roomy but I do think that for a blue water yacht it lacks handholds. Maybe some rails at the roof? Also, a safety belt for the cook helps a lot against bumps and hot water burns. All the best, dear people. PS. The tiny cockpit greatly enhances seaworthiness but what are you going to do when there are more than two guests?
There are teak hand rails which attach to the teak trim pieces that I'm varnishing. That is why there are holes in the trim which we didn't cover with bungs.
Please express our thanks, from out here in viewer land, to the folks who let you take over their workshop. Its been a wonderful trip.
They really are amazing people, we're lucky to know them.
Belgian beer & Swiss chocolate 😅! 😅! Perfect. And fitting way to celebrate epoxy layer 2nd deck success! Whoop!
As a German citizen I can't approve of Belgian beer. They do strange things to their beer. Their fries are great, though.😂
"I believe in Belgian beer and Swiss chocolate!" I'm with you man!
"Belgian beer and Swiss chocolate". I'm with you there, Aladino!😁

Came here to say the same. :)
Ditto!😊
Aladino: "I'm proud of us" ! We are too :-)
Looking great! and beer and chocolate is a perfect meal plan.
Maya is genuinely Happy again! I Love it!!!
During the saying goodbye my thought was: This woman is not happy and is hating it's taking so so long.

She is now becoming a true beauty, congratulations to you both.

Yes, but I do miss the violin peices. Understandable though
Thank You so much for these videos
Belgian Beer!! Orval is my absolute favorite beer.
Aladino must be an absolute BOSS at wrapping Xmas presents!
I bet you're looking forward to peeling off the last bit of blue masking tape.
I love it!! "I've got five coats of varnish on the chart table, and TWO more should do it."
Your music selection is always perfection
Yay for Belgian beer

Lol @ the Irish dance music when Aladino was smushing down the ply by the companionway…. Nice touch!! 😅😅😅

Almost had Riverdance down at 2:55.
I absolutely agree about the beer and chocolate, do not forget the Swiss cheese. 😊
