I stumbled upon you by accident, Brandon, while looking for information on the Arctic Air device...and I'm so glad I did! I love the way you presented this...you have a great way in front of the camera and made me feel almost as though we were having a conversation, rather than that I was watching a video. Thanks!

*Solid, **Fastly.Cool** and gets the job done. For rooms where window-mounted air conditioning is not an option, this works very well. Easy set up, rapid cooling, and great design.*

Hey! I got one too and discovered that you need to let it sit for a while to soak the water into the system. ALSO!!!! I put ice cubes in it then water....WOW....WHAT A DIFFERENCE! you have to try it.

kelly broughton same here...I bought one today and thought the first lot of water soon went but it was just the sponge inside soaking it up. It's SO much colder with ice cubes in too...

When you put water in for the first time, it absorbs it into the filter, then when you fill it again it does last 8 hours. I love it! It's on my desk next to my laptop and I just wanna sit there for hours keeping cool! Great video! Keep up the great job!

Pro tip right here for optimum chilling.
Take a water bottle from fridge and head towards your arctic air
Open the reservoir, and pour the water over your head.

I actually have one of these as well as a Blu Breeze for comparison. The Arctic Air does kinda work for me, and so does the Blu Breeze to a lesser extent. It really depends on your climate. No evaporative cooler is a substitute for an air conditioner, but it will help in hot, dry climates. If the humidity is high, the cooler won't work as well.
I'm currently suffering through a 107F heat wave in Texas right now, but the humidity is below 35%, which is near perfect for an evaporative cooler to work optimally. I used a thermal camera to measure the temperatures of the grille and the water wicks inside. My bedroom temperature is around 80F during the day. The grille of the Arctic Air is the same temperature as the air coming out, which is about 60F, and the grille of the Blu Breeze was around 66F. The wicks inside the Arctic Air were 55F and the wicks in the Blu Breeze were 62F. I have yet to run them without the air conditioner on, but I hope I never have to do that, since they do raise the humidity in the room considerably.
TLDR: Works well in arid climates, but is basically a fan in humid climates.
Bonus info: put a few drops of tea tree and peppermint oils in the tanks to prevent mold and bacteria growing on the wicks. Plus it makes the room smell nice.

When you first fill it up the filter soaks up water that's why you thought that the water evaporated so quickly. Once the filter is saturated the water last quite a while.

Brandon, the sound of your voice must have the young ladies lined up outside your door.
In 1982, I heard a man's voice on the phone (for business). I loved it! We met in 1983 when
he changed jobs to work at my company. We married in 1985 and lived happily ever after.....
    (with our one son)! ☺
P.S. This review was very good!

  • @MasonTorrey
    @MasonTorrey 5 років тому +3

5:08 No, it didn't evaporate all that water in that little amount of time. The reason the water lever dropped so quickly is because you put water into a new unit with a dry filter. It absorbed most of the water in the tank. Fill the tank again now it's primed and you will see no drop in water level whatsoever in the same amount of time you ran it for this video.

    Hello,
there is a shop not far from my home, they sell 5000BTU (for window) at $150cad
air conditioners at 15k BTU can cost nearly $ 600, I believe that 3x 5000 btu at $ 150 is cheaper
but is it a effective as one 15k BTUs ?

All the negative comments and reviews online about this little thing are just hilarious! Small evaporative coolers such as the Arctic Air are not meant for humid climates and they're certainly not meant to cool your room or whole house. If you'd like to cool an entire house or room, might I suggest a Port-A-Cool. If you live in an area where the humidity level is almost always at 40% or higher on average, then it will do zilch for you and be nothing more than an expensive small table fan. If you live in a desert, like myself, then it will be a great little cooling device to have at your office cubicle, bedside, poolside, picnic, or wherever you have access to a plug-in or USB jack. It's basic thermodynamics and most of the negative reviews stem from a lack of understanding.

The reason the water drained so fast when you first filled it up is because it has to soak the paper filter that the fan blows through. After that it should last longer, but yeah 8 hours is a massive stretch, the amazon reviews tell me it's closer to 3

I also have the Arctic Breeze. I bought it home from Walmart, and I think it was only $20. I put water in it and I turned it on and my front enclosed front porch is my craft area, I turned on the Arctic Breeze and the only Arctic Breeze I got must have been from Africa, because it only pushed out hot air. I still have the same amount of water in it a week later. The water level has not moved and the only time I got cold air was yesterday, because it rained and the windows were open Arctic Breeze my arctic Ash

it ran out of water so fast because it has to go into the filter trust me once that filter is satchurated it actually blows really nice cool air of course if its in the 100s like it has been here i recomend putting a fan behind it so the cool air is stronger but it actually works pretty well once it gets itself going.I keep it near my computer since i spend so much time on it writing and its currently saving me from heat stroke lol.

Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

I had to get one during the heatwave this year - total waste of £30. It’s nice if you’re about two foot from the front but it’s useless if you’re trying to sleep. It can’t work in humid environments (Britain in the summer) because of its evaporation technology.

The effectiveness of this actually cooling you down is ultimately dependant on humidity. Above 60% and it will be a compete waste of time and likely raise the air temperature around you. However at 40% humidity it'll work really well and far more effective than any fan. You can't add humidity to an already humid room and expect it to work. This product gets a lot of bad reviews because people don't understand basic thermodynamics.

it works but NOT for a HUMID climate since it creates humidity (yes thats how it works)..so in a humid country it wont give you a good result. Bigger versions of this type of cooler can actually cool a room. BTW to the reviewer ... IT NEEDS SOME WATER IN ITS SYSTEM( PREFILL)...so you should have let it run a bit and then refilled it to actually comment on water consumption... Also you can add a ice pack to get the air even cooler... Next time do your homework son...
