I saw these guys in concert opening for Thompson Twins back in the day, they were great. They were promoting this track as their new single and they actually performed it twice in the same set lol
Brilliant album. Every song. Had it on tape back in the day. Was one of my favourite albums of the 80s. Managed to track down a vinyl copy last year. Very happy. A huge shame that they never followed it up. I don't understand why they weren't huge.
They contributed to soundtracks like Breakin' and Superman, and their follow up "Humanication" from 85/86 never saw an official release until their 6CD boxset "Re-Fuse" in 2010. The record company rejected it because they thought the record was too politically overt. They have another release on Cherry Red called "Vibrate, Generate," just released last month, but if you liked their debut then you probably won't fancy this latest one as much because they are now more rock oriented. The Politics of Dancing is still a great record to this day, and tracks like "Hurt" , and "Cruel World," "What You Deserve," etc, are new wave blue prints.
1984 & the years later was the golden age of MTV so there was a video for almost every song that hit the hot 100. This dance band should have done better than it did. Still have my "Politics of Dancing" 45 and the song isn't dated by any means. Great follow up song in "Hurt". Love the melody mmmmm!
+Mark Muffs I got Politics, Hitline, Couldn't Stand A Day & Praying To The Beat on 7 inch, and How Much Longer on 7 inch, but no original sleeve, they should have been huge
This is the first time I've seen this video, and I've loved this song since I first heard it on the album. "Something About You" would've been a terrific single too. I'm glad "Humanication" is finally widely available. Flex-Heads, REPRESENT!
Only 19 thumb-ups for this music drug by far, I cannot believe it!!!! I just cannot stop listening this sh!t, g0dd@mn!!! This one's by far the best music drug I ever listened to!!!! This is IT!!!!!!
Tom Squeeze No, only the same produer as japan. RE-FLEX is in a league of their own. All instruments and vocals are exceptional. Paul Fishman, keyboardist, vocals, is a composer of timeless music
Watch Nigel (bass) at 1:44 to 1:47 -- that is the epitome of a cool bass player. I also dig his two note "uh ohhhh" riff at 1:11....his offbeat slaps add a lot to this tune!
I seriously can't understand why a man or woman would allow their mate treat them horribly. Have a backbone and change their behavior or leave. No sense in going thru life being abused. I'd rather be single.
ElectronHexagon I've always said that it might be down to the individual that enjoys the dominance, even gets off on it. Seeing men creep around women like that is just pathetic
officially the most underrated band of the all time
This and Space Monkey
This whole album is such a classic. every song is well crafted .
Couldn't stand a day is a belter of a song

This single only peaked as high as No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. An underrated New Wave gem.
That maybe explains why I never heard this til right now as it came up on my UA-cam home page

Somehow I missed this song when I was a kid in 1984. I was 14 back then. It's actually a pretty good song.
Crazy good. 80's fun at it's zenith
What a FIND! I covered Politics on my channel a few weeks ago. I'm so glad I found this today! thank you

Wow my favorite band from the 80s and yet I never knew this video! Thanx for posting.
Still own the vinyl album 🙂
Yes...I have it also a great album. I have picked up the Cherry Pop CD to give the LP a break.
I always thought this album was greatly overlooked. It's really fantastic
wonderful new wave
Band that got ahead time with some of their music compositions
Another gem. Thanks for this!!
which reminds me that they have something in common with a band called Japan, vocally

Imagine this great song in a mashup with November Group's "Put Your Back to It."
David bowie obviously had a big influence on many bands and singers in the 80s. For egsample Thomas Dolby.
Awesome. I always assumed they were aussies.
The singers mullet is cool
2021???🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Totally agree with you, many who hang around hoping their abusive partner will change end up dead - and the vast majority of casualties are women.

The more I look at this band, I think "Hmmm... Did this band make The Mysterious Song?"
