@@thegunviking You do the hard work my friend. It’s the first time I’ve made a donation on UA-cam actually. Would be better for you if the decimal point was a couple of places to the right, but I’m going hunting for unobtainium this weekend. I’ve located a country gun shop with a 1000 rounds of RWS Special Match, so I’m going for a little drive and throw a bit of the piggy bank on the counter. Keep up the good work 😉
@@1mccactus The amount donated is not important. The fact that anyone would pay anything to watch my videos is a great feeling, and a drive to make me make more😊. I hope you get to buy some RWS, and that they work great. Is .22 ammo hard to come by these days?
Interesting when supersonic comes back down through the sound barrier it buffets the projectile as the wave catches up and can be accurate up to that point … love to see this round stretched out to 120 meters see if it’s still good once it slows down .. thanks for the video
You know what; I’ll test it at longer range next time I`m on the range filming. I just need a day with calm wind conditions. Have you watched any of «Mark & Sam after work» videos? They use hyper velocity .22s for longe range and has a theory that crossing the sound barrier is not as big of a deal thst I thought. I can`t say either way.
I recommend you get the Garmin Xero C1 Pro chrony. It is pricey, but well worth it. It is so easy to set up and use. I use mine all the time and enjoy it. Good video. Thanks.
Thanks for the info! I had a old box of stingers I took to the range and I was all over the target, blaming my scope I couldn't figure out what the problem was, I had no idea they have a new version, you may of saved me from buying a new scope! I will be getting the new ones and try them out now and see if there is a difference
Thank you. My CZ hates all CCI. For supersonic l use Hornady, getting three inch grouping at 100 yards usually. I did read ages ago about not using Stingers in a match chamber, something to do with pressure. Do enjoy your videos.
Interesting. I remember when Stingers came out and I thought they were definitely not as accurate as the common Winchester, Remington etc. and I never went back. I do want to try them again now, and with a different rifle.
You got a subscriber out of me mate, Gday all the way from Australia, What bolt/knob is that you have it looks great, I also like the stock I have 2 GRS berserk stocks either love them or hate them. Keep up the good work mate keep the content coming. Cheers
Hi! One of the great things with my little youtube journey is that I get in contact with gun and shooting entusiasts all over the world. Yes, the bolt knob is sweet. I bought it from a british company callee MM sports. They do international shipping. I bought one for both my Tikkas. Than you for the kind words!
Well, that answers the question about the Tikka having a match chamber 😮 it does not! I like stingers for plinking fruit and pumpkin carving in the fall 😊 Nice groups for sure considering! Thanks for sharing 👍
Hello of France, I bought this gun since one month , she's wonderful .....I shoot with CCI sub and stinger on 100 yards , no problème very strong......ciao ...
I have a buddy that had a Ruger 77/22 that shot atrocious, except it would make little knot holes with the old Stingers at 50yds. Never saw another rifle that would even consistently shoot groups even twice that size. He quickly traded it because who want to only buy $$$$ and shot Stingers. I'm impressed with the groups you obtained and might give them another try. I'd be interested in how much the groups would open at 70-75 yds. in your rifle.
.22`s are strange that way. They do have their preferences when it comes to ammo, and they often surprice me. I have thought about doing a «head to head» challenge between the Stinger and the Yellow Jacket. Maybe I should do this at 75 yards🤔
I have a brno model 2 and a brno cz 2E 452 both love the stingers, 1 inch groups at 70 metres every day of the week but my cz 452 american is struggling to get 2 inch groups at 50 metres but likes the cci velocitors 1 inch groups again at 70m. 22Lr rifles can be very finnicky with ammo. Cheers
Zero your rifle at 50 with subsonics carry a spare magazine with velocitors in , just swap them out when a 80 to 100 shot comes up using the same zero top tip
I used to use Winchester subs for all my hunting but now the production of this fantastic hollow point ammo has gone from Australia to America the quality is rubbish and i wouldn't use it ! I don't use eley rimfire because all the heads are loose causing inconsistencies in velocity, so now i only use rws hollow points 40 grain subs that are very accurate but don't expand as good as the Winchester, so if anyone can manufacture the Winchester 40 grain subsonics hollow points to the original Australian standard i will by thousands 😊 also while I'm on a roll with complaints 22wmr ammo same as above i used 22wmr Winchester jacketed hollow points 40 grain but for the same reason as above i don't now, all the 22wmr ballistic tip ammo doesn't expand and it's accurate at 100 , the 40 grain cci holow points are very accurate but don't expand going through game the only one i have found is the 22wmr cci 33grain hollow point using the epic and i do mean epic tnt hollow point!! These are made to expand very fast dumping all of the 22wmr energy on target 👍👍👍👍👍 no exit wounds with these 👍 but getting hold of them is like trying to win the lottery 😢
I haven’t noticed any issues with Eley having loose projectiles. Have you tested more than one LOT of them? They might be worth trying again. It’s frustrating when a favorite suddenly has poorer quality. I’ve been considering doing a test of HP ammo in ballistic gelatin. I’ve purchased enough for a few batches. Unfortunately, I have very little experience with .22WMR. Here in Norway, almost no one uses them. Thanks for the great input and comment!
I think the numbers are pretty much the same. If I should make a guess they have tighten up tolerances in their components and production. But this is just a guess.
@@thegunviking CCI has needed to work on the accuracy of the Stinger for a long time now. It is great that they have finally done something. The stinger is a very good round.
Hi! No, never tried it. It`s not imported to Norway at this moment. I can`t remember the barrellenght at the moment(not home so can`t measure it), but I seem to remember it`s 20"
It was never intended for precision, it was intended for killing critters. Although the accuracy has improved over the last 20 yrs. I'm not sure if light 22 bullets were intended to see those velocities.
I forgot that one! I actually have a box of it😁! Thank you for reminding me- I now also just remember that Norma and RWS(most likely the same cartridge) also have a super fast copper.
good video i keep stingers on hand for hunting they do well on larger animals like our ground hogs i don"t like them on squirrels they tear them up to bad as i enjoy the meat and my wife the shygirl this is her computer does not like the noise over standard velocity
Thanks for the video. I had not heard that the Stingers went through some change, great that they are improved.
I`m not sure what they did, but I was told by the importer that they had done some work on them. Whatever they did it seems to have worked.
I miss the nerdy speed measurements! Also, I want to test some theories with your chrono one day :D
Thank you, Ola!
Always interesting!🙂
Thank you so much!
Thanks
Thank you so much! This will go towards more ammo for more tests😊

What about a hyper velocity shoot out between brands
Not a bad idea for a video! I may just put something together.

Try aguila interceptor HP and normal point also with chrono please

You are correct. The twist rate in most .22lr aren't made for such light bullets and speed. But sometimes it works out for some reason.
Rip chrono . The garmin xero is so good and easy
I guess that will be what I go for. Just have to get Garmin sponsor me one😆

Yes, the Stingers make a loud bang.
I would have to guess that, extra speed = extra heat. That's why the groups got worse with every target!
Never been impressed with stinger. Use a Neal Waltz Die to make match ammo into hollow points. Works better for me.
Hi! I also have a hollow point maker made by a norwegian tool maker. I'll do a test with it at a later time.
Better than the old stinger but still not good enough
Cci Velocitor > Stinger
I`ll be doing more testing with the Velocitor as soon as winther is over.
Still group shite unfortunately
No matchammo, thats for sure. But good enough for hunting at reasonable range. I have other hyper spped ammo I will be testing.
Don't try Stingers if you have a match chamber the case is too long, you will squeeze the bullet.
Yes, the brass is longer.
