Thanks for this really helpful video Lucy. It helped me diagnose a loose hammer on my century old upright. After watching the video I ordered the two tools and was able to remove and reglue the affected hammer 😊
My piano had a ticking noise with some notes so I asked my tuner if he could fix it but he didn't hear the ticking noise so after a few months I asked him again and then again, to the point that I felt that I'm overly sensitive and too demanding because he thought I was hearing ghosts. Then somebody advised me to check for loose hammer heads and guess what! Loose hammer heads! That was a relief because now somebody can do something about it. My new tuner will do something about it. Or else I go do it myself!
You definitely do not want a tuner that cannot hear the sound of a loose hammer head! When you glue the head on, sometimes the grooves in the hammer don’t line up perfectly and that leads to needing to shape the hammer head. That would be another video for me to do. Good luck!
@@lucyurlacher9794 thank you. My tuner was 3th generation Bechstein specialist. Luckily he has no kids! By the way, you really helped me with the damper adjustment video!
That tool is called “hammer head extractor.” They come in large and small. Large for shanks 3 1/4” and longer, small for 2 3/4” - 3 1/4” shanks. You can also get an “extractor clamp” that clamps onto the shank. Good luck!
Hi Lucy. I’m your biggest fan. However I feel sorry about not being able to react to most of your video’s. Also it’s not possible to save them because you set them as “for children”.
I've been following her since the beginning of her videos, she's a very knowledgeable and humble person..thank you
