  • tm.org What happens to the brain when someone practices the Transcendental Meditation® technique? All experiences changes the brain and nothing changes the brain like transcending.
For more information on the TM® technique, please visit: www.TM.org or call 1-888-532-7686 - 1-888-LEARN-TM
Fred Travis: Mr Lynch and Dr Hagelin gave a very compelling image of a Unified Field at the basis of our thought, at the basis of our behavior and these compelling images have concrete reality in the functioning of our brain. The quality of the functioning of your brain determines the quality of the functioning of your mind.
If you want a creative mind you need a creative brain. If you want a calm and alert mind you need a restful and alert brain. This relationship goes the other way as well - the brain not only generates experience but also each experience we have changes the brain.
Every time you see something, you hear something the words now going into your ears are creating this cascade of electrical activity in your brain. Individual neuron by individual neuron is sending the information and you have as if these connecting hands, we have this delicate network over your brain and that's what lets you see. That's what lets you decide and every time you have an experience that network gets a little stronger.
Your brain is a RIVER it's not a ROCK. Indeed 70% of your brain cells change every day. What we have here is an example of 2 dendrites. Dendrites are where one cell takes in information and these little bumps that you see are called dendritic spines, this is where one neuron is communicating with this neuron. You have 100 billion neurons in your brain, each one get input from about 10,000 other neurons every second. You could imagine getting 10,000 phone calls every second and trying to integrate it together into one coherent output.
One of the most research ways to improve holistic brain function is through practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique.

Its a very clear way to understand the mind, body, union. I love meditation, yet forget its importance sometimes. I have a new tomorrow to begin it!

what about the effects of the brain being inundated and poisoned by radio frequency radiation from microwave emitting cell towers, cell phones, base stations, etc? clearly this is a problem that needs to be addressed ASAP! Have there been studies on this yet??

@RonSkem Are you suggesting you can only learn the brand known as "TM" by spending relatively large amounts of money. Do you think someone could learn "TM" for free? Also, does spending more money always guarantee better results? Or, can you spend peanuts and get gold. Also, monkeys are rather expensive, just saying. Maybe you can trade monkeys for gold.

@RonSkem Where are the studies that show that "TM" is the best and most effective form of meditation. Also, are you suggesting that you cannot achieve similar, or better results without spending a penny?

meditation is great, but it is insane to think that you have to pay somebody $1500 to tell you to sit still and repeat a mantra. get a friend to do that for free. or ill cut the cost in half and do it for $750! either way though, meditate!

This is an explanation of how your life is going to improve on every level, and you want to cheat? The money doesn't go into anyone's pocket--it goes to a non-profit (and it only coss about half of what you say). Even if you get the mantra from someone else, you won't have the knowledge of how to use it properly, even if your friend tells you what he remembers of the instructions. TM teachers attend training that lasts from five months to a year to learn how to teach TM, and you are going to try to tweak this info out of a friend? If you do, you will get what you deserve, which is an incomplete technique that won't give you the full benefits. It is more than just sitting and repeating a mantra.

I paid for TM in 1973. This was the best investment of my life! It’s very important to have a TM teacher to check your Meditation and provide you with the correct use of the instruction. Checking is free. Plus I attended many residence courses of meditation that included yoga asanas and knowledge of enlightenment. There are TM teachers all over the world who are constantly available for knowledge and checking and it’s all part of the initial cost. I have participated in follow up checking and knowledge for the past 49 years! So Learning how to do something correctly is worth the money. And the “bang for your buck”is obviously a very wise investment.
