I was listening to the radio feed ..i remember this .. When I was asked to partner on a big boat... I dreamt of this moment. I signed ..Big Rock 2022 here I come. Congratulations fellas. I can't wait wait for the feeling
I'm a Guthrie straight out of the promise land of Morehead City....my kin folk from 70 years ago would be sooooo proud of them guys and what the fabulous fisherman has turned into...I've watched this video so many times and its better every time
That decompression was a blessing that probably ended that fight when it did. Unlike the Swordfish, if that Marlin had stayed shallow it could have taken as much as 4 times the amount of time to wear it down.
I once reeled in a 380 pound black marlin with one hand tied behind my back (figuratively speaking) and no chair in ~ 40 minutes. For a big fish they run out of steam pretty fast. The real broke when I first saw color (fish was about 15' below) so I just hand lined the fish the rest of the way. True story. Pound for pound I'd rather catch a Pacific sailfish any day.
Pretty sure the record was broke for amount of people there tonight! Hope the sensation boys don’t get screwed. Y’all passed and won so should theirs Id think!
@@saltyboy3659 it’s a shame, they got screwed. Catching a fish that size is literally a fight for both human and fish. You ever seen a fight where someone didn’t sustain some kinda damage. Yea the bites were 2wks old and healing of course they busted back open in a 6 fight. Big rock lost all credibility to me, ha not like that matters to them thou.
Wow they allowed a mutilated fish to qualify? What kind of tournament is this? That fish wouldn't qualify in a professional tournament. Sad to say it but got to have respect for the trophies.
My understanding is TOP DOG crew took pics of the gimongous fish during and after the catch that shows unmutilated. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in 2023.
I've listened to this story several times over the last year and it never gets old. What a day for these guys!
Met the owner on a wedding charter in south carolina our fmaily owns boat. Nicest guy ever the story still gets me fired up !Beautiful work boys

That black marlin is no big blue.

Amazing story, but I can’t believe you guys didn’t have a winch and tow straps.

We like to keep it old school

This fish should've been disqualified.... Mutilated
Yeah this is confusing with the disqualification that just happened. I'm new to this sport. Maybe I'm missing something.
@@jop4112 I just wonder who's pockets were padded with this one.

Tournaments should be catch, tag and release not butchery.
