The only thing I really dislike about this is the slowed down tempo. It kinda ruins the energy of the climax. It's a shame since everything else was on point. But the tempo...big no no. Lol Still a great performance of course and the vocals were superb.
@@Sttephy30 Then you should've said why you disagreed in the first place instead of just telling me to shut up. With that being said, I respectfully disagree. I think the original tempo provided more than enough space to show off melodic skills and was already quite intimate. During the verses it's not as noticeable but during the climax, which is where the energy of the song really picks up, it just sounds kinda anti-climactic to me. I prefer the OG tempo. We disagree...and that's ok.
@@Sttephy30 Who said anything about high notes? Don't distort what I said. I was talking about the energy of the climax...usually the climax of a song is where the energy picks up, specially for a singer like Mariah, and yes that includes (not exclusive though) high notes (part of her vocal style). The overall melody and the vocal melodic lines (high notes or not), specially during the climax, flow better with in the original tempo IMO. She did all the high notes as in the original version so obviously my "issue" is not about high notes. It's the tempo itself. Same way I didn't like the slowed down tempo of her Grammy Vision of Love performance. Takes away the energy and momentum of the song.
@@Sttephy30 Do you only comprehend things in extremes and absolutes? I didn't say that. Lol I usually prefer the songs to be performed in their original tempo since that's how they were intended to be when they were composed, when they were created. Songs have a specific tempo for a reason...it's not random. Like everything else in a song (key, tempo, melody, vocal arrangement, instrument arrangement), it's the way it is for a reason. Mariah herself said she wrote and composed songs in a higher key because for her it usually sounds better. Same thing for tempo for me...it usually sounds better in the original tempo (whether that's slow, mid or fast). That doesn't mean I can't enjoy changes in tempo in certain songs. Or if the song was rearranjed in a completely different way (an acoustic version as she did with Thank God I Found You, for example). But USUALLY I prefer songs to be in their OG tempo. Singers can always improvise vocally, regardless of the tempo of the song.
