What type of strings are you using?
I think these were the stock strings (roundwound, nickel by Fender, D'Addario? 45-105 I would guess)
Fender did a great job with the American Original line.

It does yes, but this line was just cancelled, still some available on Reverb
not sure, these custom/vintage are usually short runs though. And the Gold was always harder to get. ZZSounds has it in stock though.
