    This is the building I am planning on staying in when I go to Plymouth hopefully in two years! Just wondering if you knew anything about the Animal behaviour course there? That’s what I am planning on studying

      Alannah O'Neill thank you very much! Are you enjoying your experience at the uni? And thanks a lot I certainly will attend one in my second year at college

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  7 років тому

      no problem! I am thank you! I suggest you attend them well before you have to start applying so I'd recommend attending in the summer after your first year, as from the beginning of your second year, UCAS applications fly by and it's definitely important to make sure you know the uni you want to go to is the best for you.

    In Francis Drake, it's quite a 'party' accommodation and full of first-years like myself. I'm the type of person that always wants to have pre-drinks in the flat and go on a night out. Is Astor House very sociable or is it a bit quiet?

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  6 років тому

      Matt Pope it’s very sociable, but ultimately what you make of it. If you put the effort in to socialise with people then you’ll be fine

    Heya, I'm looking at accommodation as hopefully moving to Plymouth in September. I would quite like a party accommodation as it will be my first-year and for it to have a good atmosphere. I've heard that the student village is ideal to live if wanting that however, I think the 'off-campus' halls do look a lot better. Would you say living off campus is better??

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  6 років тому

      You’re likely to get a party atmosphere in any of the halls as it’s about the people rather than the location! I personally would recommend Astor but I spent time at the student village accommodation with friends and that was fun too. Astor is a nicer place though

    Hiya, would you say this is a good accomodation to have for 1st year? I'm coming to Plymouth Uni i September 2019 but I'm worried I won't be able to socialise as much living here than I would in halls. What was your experience like? Did you make friends easily with people who lived in Astor House? Thanks!

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  6 років тому

      Leanne Adsett hey! Yeah it was definitely a great one for first year. I’d say you get just as much opportunity to socialise as you would with halls, there’s a welcome event so you get to know people quite well!

    Do you know if the premium en-suite rooms have larger desk space? (I'm assuming yours is the classicc en-suite.)

    • @whatthosebeasts

      jacabobhappylife766 I’m not sure, I think they’re all the same size desks

      @whatthosebeasts  6 років тому

      Sam Lord yeah 100% the walk only takes 10 when you get used to it and it’s nice to get some exercise in the mornings. I’ve rebooked and am living here next year too

    Hey I wanted to ask if Astor house was diverse? And would you recommend halls or Astor house for first year students. Cause I want to be able to socialise cause I don’t have any friends or family in Plymouth or close to Plymouth. Which has more first year students also

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  5 років тому +1

      Sandra Hailey hey, in terms of cultural diversity, it was quite diverse when I stayed there. There were a lot of international students as well as home students from different backgrounds! I’m not sure if you meant other types of diversity :) and halls and Astor house are pretty similar experiences from what I gathered in spending time at my friends halls. The quality is better at Astor, but if I were to have stayed in halls, I’d want to have been in Pilgrim or Radnor as I’d say they were the best quality value halls :) you’ll meet plenty of people in wherever you stay, but my advice if you’re worried about friends etc is to join lots of societies, that’s where i made my best friends at uni!

    Hi! Your room looks great. I'm hoping to start civil engineering at Plymouth this year and I'm looking into the residences. How long does it usually take you to get to uni (and other places like the mall or anything) from Astor House?

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  7 років тому

      Jasiel A. Hi, it takes 10 minutes to get to the university, 5 minutes to the shopping centre and 2 minutes to the high street

    • @JasAD876
      @JasAD876 7 років тому

      Alannah O'Neill thanks for replying :). Does it ever feel like it takes forever to get to the uni? Has it ever felt too long a walk?

    • @whatthosebeasts

      Jasiel A. Not really, it’s a good distance

    • @whatthosebeasts

      Jasiel A. It’s through the high street and all lit by street lamps so very safe

    Hiya, is this one of the lower priced rooms of Astor house? Online it only says £115-£220pm but doesn’t go into detail. Also do you have the option of choosing how many people you share the flat with? Great vid btw ☺️☺️

    • @whatthosebeasts

      Izzy Giles mine was the cheapest one! And if you book through iQ then I think you might be able to

    I wanna move into Astor in September. I'm in Francis Drake Halls at the moment. Bit of a cheeky question but I'd really like a room with a view of the Sea or the city itself, so i;m after one of the higher flats, but I don't understand the room numbers e.g. Flat-074-4. Does that mean Floor 7 - Flat 4 - Room 4 or something?

    • @whatthosebeasts
      @whatthosebeasts  6 років тому

      Matt Pope if you go in to book you can request to have a view (I don’t think any look onto the sea but mine had a view of the Barbican which was beautiful). The flat numbers are confusing, they don’t really explain which floor you’re on as there are different blocks. I recommend talking to them directly
