I was noticing while putting it back in the ground that the earth about 18" down was very cool to the touch even though its been in the hundred degree range for a couple of weeks. Combine that with the sandy soil for quick drainage in that area and it spells stable environment for the interior of the cache. In the next week or so, I'm going to visit my bug-in cache and add lots to it. That video will sit in Patreon for awhile, but should be released eventually on Ewwtube. Check out the description and get some Nutrient Survival using my link. I'm getting some more Peanut Butter Bars and some Southwestern Medley for both the apocalypse and camping trips. Thanks for watching~

I was honestly shocked at how many cans fit in that jug. Thats easily a few days rations. Afterwards you have the jug for water or foraging.

Shortly before Dunkirk, WW2, my Grandad dug-out a foundation for a road at the entrance to a field (it had got boggy), and he found many tins of corned beef! They had been used as a foundation in WW1. My Grandad and his mates ate them, they were still okay! Anyway, that's what he said!

Great video on buried cache 👌 I use food grade 5 gallon pails for cache. I also vacuum seal everything with oxygen absorbers. Just cut a couple slits on the granola bars, oatmeal, Knor pasta, soup packages...ect. You want to remove all air from packages...vacuum seal and add about 20 oxygen absorbers inside bucket. Put bucket in an industrial strength garbade bag and tie good, would last 10 to 20+ yrs. Living in Northern Canada, I bury cache well below frost line. I have 5 buckets scattered way up north for when SHTF. It's the method I use. I seen people using PVC piping, but you get more stuff in 5 gallon pails. Thanks for the share 👊 🇺🇲🔥🇨🇦👊

Great video! I have planted a couple canisters and later retrieved them. I have thought about places that will not be disturbed and offer accessibility and concealment. Green belts are great, but you never know if the land is about to be bulldozed. Gaining access to your own remote land, or perhaps land of a close, and safe friend is a better option, but that is not always an option.

    On the barrels.
If you can still smell the urea and don't kid yourself, the water it is not suitable for drinking. The recommended amount is 10 mg/liter, or 1/1000 percent urea in drinking water. One way to rinse them would be to use them as watering jugs for the lawn and trees as urea is a nitrogen fertilizer.
The barrels were not hindered or decomposed in any way from the urea.
    About electricity.
I'd share my generators with my neighbors using extension cords using gasoline from vehicle gas tanks to keep refrigerators running until food was eaten, dehydrated or canned.

If you had a piece of styrofoam insulation over the container it will prevent frost from getting at it. Frost only goes down, it does not move side to side so it can't go around the foam to get at the container. I remember that video when you buried it. Can't believe it has been that long. The can goods and everything held up very well. Thanks for video stay safe.

@@SurvivalTheory if I was to bury that container where I live , I would have dig it deep enough that the top of the container was a minimum of 6 feet down. If I put a few layers of styrofoam insulation over it I could get away with lesser depth.

thanks for the vid. and your pinned comment which i think makes a most important point about water drainage. i think we are gonna do an experimental cashe in a coupla places here at the homestead and i'm thinkin with this clay we got that i'll put a layer of gravel/rocks at the bottom. i think another point that can be made is the container is plastic and therefore wouldn't corrode the cans as would a container that wasn't the same as the can goods. and i think we will vacuum seal all but the can goods just cause.

My worst enemy with caches has been not water entry, but condensation. A full container buried just deep enough to avoid quick temp change alleviates that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

OUTSTANDING!! , I'm building my own cache from an 8" Dia X 4'L PVC tube. I have also adapted gun stock swivels for a sling stored inside the tube so I can just locate the tube sling it up and move out. Having said that, and seeing what you have included in your cache, what additional items could you suggest I include. Also, could you do a video on what to include in a well stocked and comprehensive first aid kit. The commercial ones I've seen suck. You are a wealth of info and I watch your videos religiously.

What's your opinion on using a dehydrator and putting the food (meat also) in mylar bags?I've got a dehydrator and ordered some bags.I was thinking of putting bearcreek/campbells soup mixes and knorrs/ricearoni rice/pasta sides and quaker grits/oatmeal and such in them.I don't know if it would matter if i put the unopened packs in the mylar bags instead of opening them and pouring them in.They're said to keep food for up to 30 years if sealed properly.I have alot of seed varieties too i want to preserve.I know things won't be as available in the future financial and I get as save as much as I can before the prices quadruple.
