Happy 30th anniversary to Playstation! I have many happy memories of my PS1 gaming days and here are some I'd like to share with you. Look out for future episodes!
Can't believe it has been 30 years already. Vividly remember being quite excited about mine. I got very tired of the PC hardware upgrade cycle that was needed back then when you wanted any decent modern release to run. The cost of a PlayStation was very small compared to getting the new PC hardware repeatedly. I was building a flipping PCs for quite some time - putting myself through college as well as being able to afford the latest PC hardware that way. With the PlayStation and later the PlayStation 2 I focused on console game a bit more. Good times.
Good stuff Matt, nice to hear about your childhood games. I had a bit of a love/hate with that generation. I loved my PlayStation but the anti 2D games sentiment of that time really frustrated me. Despite that it was the ps1 that introduced me to the 'cinematic game' games which focus on telling a rich story with plenty of cutscenes. It's all very common today but back then they seemed truly next level to me.
It was definitely a different world compared to the 8 and 16 but I was used to. I actually think those games have aged better than some of the PS titles. The graphics are awful now on some!
Excellent memories Mat. . At the time, I was really looking forward to the Nintendo 64 that I was caught up on how amazing it looked at the time for being a cartridge based system. Anthony..
Fantastic memories and great collection. For me, Tomb Raider, MGS, FF7, and Resident Evil, where the games I spent the most hours playing back then. 🕹👍
Had the OG Playstation. Didn't own a lot of games. Way easier and cheaper to rent them from the local shops. Did Own the First Tomb Raider and Doom and the Star Wars Knock Off of it. I rented games till I beat it and got bored with em. Lots of fun old titles! Like Bandicoot! Only ever had P1, P2, skipped 3 but got the 4.
Boom.... more PlayStation soon 😂 you defo need to grab another copy of dino crisis bud, im very surprised they aint remade it yet. I knew ff7 was coming, i thought it was going to be the first game you mentioned 😂 you and gary have made me want to do a vid on the ps1 😂

Time flies when you're having fun! Using consoles was a lot easier than using PCs back then and I'm glad I made the jump.
