Even crazier if the Ravens went on to win the title the next year with the greatest scoring and run defense of all time! But the story here is Warner. Best rags to riches sports story I know.
Growing up a child of the 70's & 80"s, these uniforms/helmets were everything to me...they just POP!!! The uni's they wore this past weekend are growing on me but...these were the best.
@@ssimpala1901when they played in the LA Coliseum with the Fearsome Foursome, those white and blue uniforms were my favorite, but these uniforms were a strong #2.
As a L A Rams fan since 1970 this was the most amazing football year for me & my family. I would guess for any football fan watching the Rams in the 99 season was amazing..👍
I just remember when Rams played for St Louis and I was in graduate school in Missouri and my colleagues watching Rams Monday night football thinking LA not St. Louis.
I can only imagine what it must've been like to watch this game live. How many people thought it was just a surprising performance, and how many realized that they were seeing greatness being born right in front of their eyes?
I'm a lifelong Steelers fan but I loved watching the Rams play when Kurt Warner was their quarterback not to mention those uniforms were pretty great too
Ravens fan here. I remember being confident the Ravens could win the game as the Rams hadn't exactly been a powerhouse the year before. Like everyone else, I didn't know this was the curtain raising on the Greatest Show in Turf.
The best matchup in Super Bowl 35 the next year would’ve been a healthy Rams team versus the ravens that would’ve been a classic and this coming from a Giants fan too. We got our butts whooped.
My mother bought me a book at seven years old that had a chapter on The Fearsome Foursome of the Los Angeles Rams and I became a fan from that day on in 1971. It has been rough some years but this 1999 season is the one that finally brought us a championship. When Trent Green went down in the preseason that sense of dread came over the fanbase, yet little did we know Kurt Warner would emerge as the QB we had always dreamed of having. I admit I was not optimistic late in the 4th quarter of the SB when Steve McNair was driving the Titans, but Mike Jones made the greatest tackle in NFL history to win the Super Bowl for the Rams!
I loved when Kurt was in NY for a while. Class act even when he was benched for Eli. Wish he'd won another SB with Arizona. Just goes to show, you never know who is going to become a star. Once he got his chance he made the most of it. Great story.
I’m now a Washington fan but initially was a fan of the St. Louis Rams (as I’m a St. Louis Cardinals fan). Torry Holt was one of my favorite receivers as a young kid and London Fletcher is one of my favorite all time players. What a special St. Louis championship team this was
3:19 Just a tough year offensively for St. Louis. We ALL thought the Rams were sunk when Trent Green went down in the preseason. It took Kurt Warner one game to prove us all wrong.
I will never forget how great 6:36 this team was. It's a shame that new England had to copy all of Kurts hand signals in 2001 to win that super bowl game. I would call it cheating. So I agree with Cris Carter. And the nfl called it a upset 😡. I dont think so.
1 thing that Warner did that you never see anymore is drop back with his shoulders parallel to the line of scrimmage. I wonder why he did that from time to time.
Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt were a heck of a quartet at those skill positions. 4 Hall of Famers. Or well, 3 and one that inexplicably keeps getting snubbed
3:20 "Just a tough year offensively for St. Louis" Goes on to score 526 points this season after scoring a touchdown at the end of the announcers sentence.
Warner, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the game. Faulk, one of the greatest backs in the history of the game. Bruce, one of the greatest wr in the history of the game. All came together at one time. Destiny.
It was a bold choice for Mitchel on the Ravens to wear number 19, for those that don't know that was Johnny Unitas' number. He is still beloved in Baltimore.
Was an amazing team. So sad how St Louis got the screws when it comes to keeping a football team. They are definitely a football town, that deserved better.
@@GWhenning "28 years old, played at Northern Iowa." That's Kurt Warner. Northern Iowa is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Warner grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, about 90 minutes away. Apparently, Gus did not realize that Iowa and Idaho are two different states

And by the way, Jen Wood started calling me lumpy Jones. And then I developed lumps. And Donnie always called me Dr. Jones. You do the math. And she gave me that bad well water every day as long as I live there until I got cancer, never went to an appointment with me and then abruptly threw me out.

The short answer is that owners are greedy and Stan Kroenke is no exception. The slightly longer version is that the city of St. Louis owned the stadium, not the Rams, so Kroenke moved to the team to Inglewood where he had bought up a bunch of land. Now he owns both the stadium and the land around it and makes a bunch of money renting it out to the Chargers and concert events and such and makes way more money doing that than ticket sales for Rams games.
Who would have known that was the first win into a Superbowl championship year after going 4 - 12 the previous year
Would be cool if this years team can shock the world

Marshall Faulk opened up their offensive, taking a lot of pressure away and making it easier for Warner to come in immediately and succeed.
The most exciting football team to watch of all time.

Georgia Frontierre stealing the team from Carroll Rosenbloom's family is the main reason they wound up in St Louis.
