I’m an FM9 user. I absolutely love the tones I get from it and it’s a great gigging solution or in the studio. It’s not for everyone though; Alot of people will find it too complicated because of the UI and masses of parameters available in each block, but for those who have an interest in music production, sound design and maybe synthesis it is just a brilliant piece of kit.
Honestly, a lot of people say that the QC is the most powerful unit on the market but with an FM9, you can use 8 different amps (not at the same time, no one does that in real life) and 4 speaker cabinets, plus the best effects of the market. If you want to clone your amp...ok!! buy a Nano Cortex and put into the FM9 into the FX loop, you can use MIDI to make selections between two units and the possibilities are so enormous...for example, I have my songs configured by presets and each preset has a TAP configured Different TEMPO that allows us to rehearse or play in concert with in-ear, with the different tempo of each song, I use the OUT 1 output for my sound and the OUT 2 for the metronome creating a different channel in the mixer only for metronome, so that it facilitates the option of not having to use a computer for a metronome sequence. The FM9 is the better choice between portability and features. just in the middle of AXE FX3 and FM3.
Awesome series on Fractal so far! I'm an FM9 owner and currently play exclusively through studio monitors at home. I've been considering the FR12 from Fender or possibly using a power amp with a speaker cab, which seems to be your preferred “real-sounding” solution. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the “feel” of the amp when using something like the Pedal Baby through a 1x12 with a Creamback or Greenback. Alternatively, I’m curious about the class AB power amp of the Katana Artist through the Waza speaker (which is supposed to be like the greenback). I’m hoping you’ll dive into monitoring solutions in one of the remaining three videos. Thanks for all the ongoing great content on your channel.
Yes, you can put input 2 whereever you like in the loop. With the scenes you can make that input do whatever you want. With the fm3, you cant run 2 amps at the same time but you can switch to different amps per scene and/or channel.
I believe many of you are missing the point. It's only as complicated as you want to make it. I've had an FM3 for about 3 weeks and can use it well enough for my needs already. Did i have to read the manual and watch videos? Yes, I did. Can i use it as well as Bernd No . Do i still love my tube amps? Yes. I bought it to make gigging easier, im sorry, but after 40 + years of gigging, im sick of hauling heavy amps and cabinets. I've had literally almost every product Line6 has ever put out except for the Helix (i do have the HX Stomp). Was never satisfied with the sound, but with the FM3, I'm happy with the sound.
Fractal your unit once dialed in sounds and plays fantastic....but for the love of God you are in dire need of a good UI . Until you get there I will be using Helix and having much more fun
In terms of DSP, is it really worth to get the FM9 instead of the FM3? I mean, i know you could run 2 amps simultaneously in the FM9, but if that is not needed, is it really worth the upgrade?
WhatsApp about The Input impedance? IIRC the FM3 is fixed to 1 Mega Ohm and the FM9 has variable Input Impedance (which loads passive Guitar Pickups differently and changes the sound when using built in fuzzes and other pedals with loser Input impedance and capacitance)
FMSeries ain't that complicated...keep it simple is all it takes...I've really struggled building pedal board routing and then having a pedal board that is less than a metre square lol..
@@musiccreation1198 . We don’t even have the option to connect directly to a passive speaker. It’s completely absurd. A passive speaker is what sounds the best, rather than FR-FR. Sure, you can always add a power amp separately, but honestly, that takes away all the simplicity of the device.
@@alexdenton6586 Enjoy the Bluguitar. I do agree however on passive speaker vs FRFR, which is why I switched from Fender FR12 to a Quilter rig. Then again the FR12 sound quite good...and I'd love to blind test you guys. ;)

Fm9 with Tone Capture would be glorious !!
Took me a long time to come round but the fractal stuff is head & shoulders above anything else on the market in every respect.
Scenes 6/take 41! Sorry guys there is no differences between the two, ya they maybe sound great but life is to short to spend time on theses.

Love this demo as usual, I'm now considering selling my Axe Fx3 for the FM9 to make it easier to gig with and still record the guitar at home.
Always a pleasure to watch you two guys in this series. 😊
By the way: where did you get your own personal Bernd? 😂
Thanks Henning and Bernd!
First and foremost, happy new year.
A friend of mine has one and it’s fun to use. I on the other hand am waiting for the next generation, so sorry.
In the FM3. Could you run an electric guitar full preset using input 1, and an acoustic or piezo guitar in input 2 using eq/comp only?
Yes, you can put input 2 whereever you like in the loop. With the scenes you can make that input do whatever you want.

That Halo delay ... sweet. Setting that up right now!

fm3 limit for me is mostly if you want to use two delays and a reverb the advanced delays uses a lot of cpu

Sounds great, but way too complicated for me to use every day.
24:24 that's not totally correct, you can use the "Scene controllers"

lower
= 700 dollars.
enough extra to get a tube amp.
but I guess this is where someone would find out what the 700 extra gets them in the 9
16:34 yes total control requires responsible modification, all the controls you need to really mess it up. Ya don’t know what ya don’t know.
KITTIES!!!

Sure, to get to the simple you need to suffer the pain of the complicated
@@Antitrump7431not really. Drop in a block, stay on the first tab.
What a nightmare.
Is it true that Bernd Kiltz is gay?
Nope
@ But he look so 🤨
To complicated, who’s mad enough to play on that , better the Amp X from Bluguitar
Uninformed comment
It's as complicated or as simple as you desire.

@@alexdenton6586it’s not an amplifier. It’s a modeler.
There’s no way I’m taking that to a gig. I’m not with a major tour with roadies. It’s cool for the studio though. For a gig just give me boss pedals.
