Unless she's using a version of the term so outdated to as be improbable (it USED TO be used in that region to refer to anyone born natively in 'The New World' as opposed to off a boat) then that tells us she is most probably Black and 'French'*, with Spanish or German being less probable but still not unlikely candidates for the racial mixing with her African ancestry.
*Quotes around 'French' because that could mean Frankish, Norman, Iberian, Roman, or any number of other things in blends that COULD mean more genetic similarity to Germany or some Mediterranean country depending on how mixed her family was BEFORE leaving France.

This was very interesting, so many terms I wasn't aware of ! Also calm down, people are always learning. A way to educate people is through kindness and inclusiveness, explain to someone about your culture and traditions , invite them to celebrate with you. Shaming people does not work !

I remember reading about "Muslim" being used to label a people group as a nationality in their country's population census, probably because their government used their religion as cultural identifier, with no consideration of their language, customs, and history. I'm not sure what's the case now but the ethnic group have more or less identify as "Bosniaks".

Race is like black white or Asian ethnicity is more specific like kenyan, italian, japanese
Race describes physical characteristics. Race is a factor that can form part of an ethnicity e.g. African-American. Religion also can form part of an ethnicity or be solely defined by it e.g. Coptic Christians. Ethnicity is also influenced by nationality. For example, an ethnic group could be white Irish.
And white and black are skin colors. Not ethnicities. 🙄

I relate to the second girl so bad. I'm also mixed black/white and yet the majority of people think I look Asian. I guess it's not always a bad thing as a lot of those girls are very pretty but I can hurt when people state you look nothing like any of the people who made you. Considering all of my dad's kids are black and my mums are white, as the only mixed child growing up I already felt like an outcast. Now more with people's comments and guesses

It’s tough when race and ethnicity aren’t strictly defined. Many ethnicities double as nationalities or even triple with being race depending on how someone chooses to identify themself. Some are both religions and ethnicities, like Jewish. The US census before (maybe even still) said ethnicity is just “whether or not you are Hispanic”. When no one can agree on what these mean, no one is going to be able to be right all the time with exactly what you think is right.
