Just got to see Neil and Crazy Horse 2 weeks ago. 2.5 hour show. Fantastic. Micah Nelson, Willie’s younger son, was on guitar. Neil did a solo acoustic version of Comes A Time. The whole venue singing along.
Greatest musician of my generation. Period (Sorry Bob, but even you know). Dude can do this lyrical magic then shift to the nastiest garage grunge imaginable with the Horse, and everything in between. No one in the history of music has managed to maintain the level of excellence over so many decades as Neil. He can't be pinned down to any particular genre, but he is instantly recognizable on every one of the thousands of tunes he has done. It's hard to recommend a particular song because of Neil's astonishing versatility, but here's a few suggestions: Like A Hurricane (from LIve Rust): greatest garage grunge guitar ever. Helpless (from CSN&Y Deja Vu): Music and lyrics that simply ache with the longing to go back home. Ohio (CSN&Y So Far) greatest protest song of all time. Rockin In The Free World (Freedom) Second greatest protest song ever Ordinary People (Chrome Dreams II) 'cause this is the real sh** Neil has 60 official albums releases and who knows how many others. this is just a tiny taste of what he is about.
Neil Young is among my favorite Musical artists. Had the good fortune to see him four times, with four completely different shows, and three different bands, got to see Crazy Horse twice. You have to love Neil's frankness and honesty, his marketing site is called "The Greedy Hand", LOL. Everything Neil has ever done is wrapped in his all encompassing warmth and desire to reach the world with his music. Folk or Rock and Roll, Neil can do and has done it all.
I remember when this album came out. We were having a teen weekend at the Colorado River and someone brought this album. No one had heard it yet and about a dozen of us sat around listening to every song. Great album, lots of hit songs, and we played it over and over between water skiing and finding "quiet places" to be with our significant other. This brings back a lot of memories and a girl I haven't thought of in a long time. Thanks.
I’ve seen Neil countless times over the years, one of my favorite artists 👌 If you really want your mind blown, take a listen to the studio version of “Last Trip To Tulsa”.
Never dived too deep into the meaning of this song. I always had the feeling it was about a guy trying to convince his girlfriend to make a commitment to him and free herself from her domineering mother.
Yes..."Harvest"...big Neil Young favorite of mine. This man's music through the decades has been just superb including his time making up CSNY. Beautiful, slow tune...👍🎤🇨🇦
"Heart of Gold" (with Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor on harmonies near the end) was the monster hit from this album. One of my very favorites is "Out on the Weekend."
"Out On The Weekend" is one of my all time favorite NY songs. It inspired me to try playing harmonica; I never mastered it by any means, but I can play along with it once in a while.
Heart of Gold was the hit from this album, and you've done The Needle and the Damage Done from this album, already. Speaking of Harvest, though, I'm going to give you a "deep cut" suggestion from a great band that was popular through albums but only had one radio hit. The band was Pure Prairie League, and the deep cut is called Harvest, and it's from their Two Lane highway album. So, there you go, maybe jot it down and on a day when you're looking for something new, check it out. Harvest, Pure Prairie League.
Honestly I prefer this song to everything else on Harvest except Alabama. His vocals are too darn pretty. Nice job taking a stab at the lyrics. Honestly I've never given them too much thought. You seemed to get it though. There seems to be a little sarcasm... "Dream up, dream up let me fill your cup, with the promise of a man" kind of says "I can promise you the world but you've been through this...we don't always deliver."
The gentle side of Neil Young. I bought this album on cassette when it first came out. Definitely one of my favourites. Nils Lofgren on piano is worth checking out in his own right.
The Harvest Moon album was a sequel to this record. Harvest is one of my favorite albums, especially this song, Needle, Out on the Weekend and Alabama. Great reaction videos. Rock on.
Heart of Gold was the "hit" song from this album. You've already done The Needle and the Damage Done, from this album, btw. Speaking of Harvest, though, I'm gonna give you a deep cut suggestion to pull out listen to on a day you nothing else planned. It's called Harvest, of course, by the band Pure Prairie League, from their Two-Lane Highway album. Great song by a great band that was popular through albums, but only had one radio hit (called Amy).
Nope over played way too much and even Neil said was too middle of the road for him...kinda wimp...no Rock except the song words....maybe you need something with Balls like Love and Only Love from Raggged Glory which wimpy requesters never heard cause it wast top 40
I still listen to Neil Young on a regular basis but wow I have not heard that in decades. I forgot how much I love that!

This is the type of sound and cadence of a tune that Neil excels at, whether Harvest Moon, Long May You Run, Four Strong Winds, and more. ❤❤
Neil could make his soft-side music and banging, guitar-driven music and drive the record company crazy not knowing what genre he was doing.
Such a good album❤
Every song on this album is pure gold! I highly recommend Words ( between the lines of age )👍

Almost wore the grooves out of this record back in the 70's.
❤❤❤

First one here! Always love watching reactions to Neil; thanks, Shawn. I heard the rhythm of a horse walking with the cadence of this song too!

Crazy Horse...not Horses. Crazy Horse was the great war leader of the Native American Lakota people.
"Hey, hey, my, my" and "My, my , hey, hey" done together in one reaction would be really cool!
