I like this video more than you think because it entails completely what a learner about catheterization required. Thank you for your wonderful lecture on catheterization.

I just haf acute urinary retention. I'm so thankful for the nurse who skillfully inserted my catheter. They got 1.5 litres out of me. I didn't even know bladders could hold that much but it explains the absurd pain. The relief was so good!
I just watched the vid because I got interested about catheters now that there's gonna be one inside of me for a while.

I'm using one. I'm only a 42 year old female. I think my skene's glands (female prostate) may be to big. They put me on Tamsulosin.

I remember tamsulosin uses and side effects easily because one of my family members took it and he stood still a little long when tried to stand from sitting just to make sure he didn't feel dizziness .As always a great video sir.👍

Not all the patients experience dizziness. If dizziness is felt, stop driving bikes or car and stay at home.

I had a catheter in me for 2 1/2 years due to a enlarged prostate and I had the catheter changed every 2 weeks and in that time you rinse your urethra out with some sterile solution to prevent any infection from happening over that period of time.

Cauti deserves more attention in this video, especially the bacteria that split urea, form biofilms which harden into struvite bladder stones. More information on the catheter irrigations in regards to controlling struvite calculi would be appreciated m

I have tried catheter already and i was screaming from the top of my lungs the moment it was plugged on my urethra. That was definitely one of the worst pain i ever felt in my entire life. Up to this day, i still feel little traumatised by the pain that i felt from that day.

    • @RichardRaj-d7e
      @RichardRaj-d7e 3 місяці тому +1

Unless there was obstruction in the urethra or constriction by an enlarged prostate or inexperienced insertion, you don't feel any pain. Moreover a mild numbing jelly is applied on the catheter and it goes all the way into your bladder, then the balloon is inflated and gently pulled down to sit in the bladder outlet. Immediately the retained urine collects in the kidney tray placed at the tip of the catheter. The relief you experience is truly heavenly. You have to maintain utmost hygiene while wearing the catheter. Use disinfectant to flush the toilet. You may experience mild bleeding (microscopic) and this will subside soon and if not get in touch with your provider. There silicon catheters which are very good.

Hi. Is there any information or statistics on the rate or percentage of success with removal of a catheter for someone who has had AUR, Acute Urinary Retention, and has been on Tamulosin/FlowMax for around 3 weeks and has a TWOC, Trial Without Catheter.
Some links that I have found seem to say it is as high as 60% success rate in urinating, while others give the odds at from 43% to 58%, or about even. This seems like an important number, as the insertion of the catheter was hugely painful, and if it gets taken out and has to go right back in, that is an extremely painful waste of time.
What is your opinion or what does your experience say about successful urination after TWOC?
Why do they start a catheterized patient with AUR on Tamulosin, and not both Tamulosin and Finesteride, for maximum impact on the prostate?

Retaining 500mL is (I think) a rather huge volume to have retained after voiding. Don't you think retaining any significant volume (100mL or?) suggests the need for at least the use of an intermittent catheter?

I wanted to do the same. I was fearing infection from having a foreign object inside me. Doesn't anyone in the medical community understand that any foreign object inside a human body can result in infection? Almighty God did not design our bodies for invasive foreign objects to be used internally. Need proof? Than pay attention to countless testimonies of people having complications from hernia mesh, bladder catheters, etc. My own mother had a horrific infection from a catheter years ago when she was hospitalized. Ended up in ER with excruciating pain. Thank God the antibiotics worked.😢😢

YUP, I didn't even realize it, but suddenly it hit me… I was actually letting it flow after the movies, my best guess is that when I go'ogled Beck Reznark's guide and read it, something changed inside me. Can’t quite explain it, it’s been months, I can’t believe I even had paruresis to begin with.

I have a suprapubic catheter. Ill need to wear it the next 1.5 months before doing surgery to fix my enlarged prostate.
Its way better, i can still have sex with my gf.
I wouldnt want a long term urethra catheter, that sounds like hell and not fun.
I also picked up a short valve end. Meaning, if i have to empty my bladder, i go to a toilet and flip the lever on a 6" short piece of plastic and let it drain into the toilet.
This way, i dont need to wear a bag if i dont want to and it's much more compact. I wear this when hanging out with my girlfriend and stuff so i dont need a bag and long hose getting in our way.
