    I'm new to your channel, but I live in North Texas and if I'm ever busted up and lost somewhere waiting to die, I want you to be the guy looking for me.

    I love your SAR scenarios! This is another fantastic torch from Nitecore! I just dont really like that they are going with proprietary cells now. But all in all great review and rundown👍

      Thank you. The proprietary batteries are what yield the performance. I can live with it if it gives me an advantage as I always carry spares in the field. One of those tradeoffs that I may not necessarily like, but I've never had anyone refuse a rescue because of the gear I used to find them :) :). I'll pick back up with more SAR training scenarios starting in the fall. Thanks again.

    For those keeping score at home, total exposure time including setup, gear-up, gear-down was over four hours. I used the P23i for about 40 minutes off-camera during the exercise. Most of that time was spent in Medium and High. About 5 minutes was spent in Low or UltraLow, testing the light for use in close-quarters tracking. Just before I left the Grasslands, I tested the P23i and it went through all lighting modes (including Turbo) without issue. Battery level showed > 50%. Also, if you did not read the video description, the wind was brutal and that includes wind noise. I took most of it out in post, but I left some in for effect. It also had some effect on the audio quality during some segments, so you might want to have CC on during the video. Thank you.

    Hello sir, I have had the P23i and the SRT7I since I saw your video and I love it. The P23i as an EDC and the SRT7I when I'm out for longer. I think both are brilliant to use. I would love to have the selector ring from the SRT7I on the P23i too. The Nitecore TM9K Pro is coming out in a few weeks and I'm really excited. I hope there are many more of your wonderful videos to come. Greetings Wolli

      That's an interesting idea. You should contact Nitecore :) Don't know if I'll get my hands on the TM9K Pro. This apt. move has really taken a long time and then vacay right after we finish will put me behind schedule. Best of luck to you!!

    Great video... love the channel... What are your favorite lights... headlamp, free light, and long distance thrower ... keep up the great work 👍

      I don't know that I have 'favorites' because that implies an emotional connection. I have 25 flashlights 'in a go bag' that goes with me on site. I also bring six headlamps. Based on mission specifics, I build a load out from that group. They're just tools and I use the best tool for the job. My #1 headlamp is the Fenix HP 30R V2. Most often-used long-throw (which is mounted left-shoulder) is the AceBeam L19 V2. I've carried several others (including LEP lights) and a lot depends on expected terrain and whether or not I'm carrying a magnified optic. I can't really say about free light as that's the one that varies the most. I generally have one 'one hand' and another in the ruck. I also carry a backup flashlight to give to someone. I carry a couple small lights in the load out and my EDC always goes in territory with me. That was chosen for a combo of EDC and SAR use. That's a PowerTac M5-G2. Thank you.

      I said maybe Big Foot is hanging out in there. My wife likes watching those Expedition Big Foot shows. I find them entertaining, so I had to get The Foot in somewhere :)

    Hello Sir, did you try to charge it because mine will charge only via supplied cable. Also, does blue LED stays on even after removing tail cap (courtesy of custom 21700)?

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  Рік тому +1

      I'm charging it right now with a USB-C that was supplied with another light. I've also charged it in my truck with a USB-C that was not supplied by Nitecore. Thank you.

    This or FenixTk16v2 or Fenix Tk20r v2? 🤔🤔🤔

      All are different lights that fit overlapping use cases but with differing beams. So, much will depend on your UI preferences and specific use case(s). I'm testing the SRT7i right now and it's pretty impressive.

  • @asvinbustam3946

    very impresive explanation.. is it better than olight seeker 3 x pro?

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  Рік тому

      Thanks. I suppose it depends on what is the definition of 'better'? I have a Seeker 2 Pro that I've used out in the field quite a bit. A much more floody light, so it hits a different set of use cases. The Seeker 3 Pro is substantial lower peak candela than the P23i, so its display should be along the lines of the Seeker 2 Pro, just a bit wider view and longer in throw. Again, this hits a different set of use cases, It's probably similar to the PowerTac Warrior G4 FL (4200 LM) that I've reviewed on the channel. I keep that as an extra free light in my ruck in case of having to search wider areas but lesser distance downrange. Hope that helps.

    What backpack straps do you use? To hold the lights

    • @L5-SAR

      I have several. One is a telescoping rig that attaches with a caribiner. I also use good, old-fashioned velcro :). Thanks.

    How do you like this one compared to the Fenix Tk 20r v2

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  Рік тому +1

      That's a tough one since they are kind of two different lights, with the P23i further along the technology curve. I'd likely use the TK 20R V2 in rain or poor atmospheric conditions. I also like it at the lower end for tracking. The TK 20R V2 is optimized for run time around that 1K lumen level. So, it makes for a good light to mount on a tree and I can walk perpendicular to the beam for area searches. I like the P23i for its more powerful Medium and High modes in better atmospheric conditions as well as off-to-spot and one-press to Turbo. I'll likely do a comparison video in the future. Thanks for your question.

    I notice my p23i has a small black spot in the center of the Hotspot of the beam, is this normal?

      No. I have not noticed it. Is there a scratch or something on the lens? Just trying to help. Good luck.

      Hi Corey. I have the P23i and also the Fenix TK 20R V2 and they both have the same LED and both flashlight is showing a small black spot right in the middle. Must be the nature of the beast of the Luminus SFT 70 LED. Hope this helps.

      @@rejeanpoirier6047 What model do you prefer between TK20R V2 and P23i? And why? Could you give me a brief Pro/cons list? I'm trying to decide between these two models and not sure which to buy. Thanks

    • @rejeanpoirier6047
      @rejeanpoirier6047 Рік тому +1

      @@Alpha.Horizon Hi Francesco. The reason why you can't decide between the 2 of them is they are both excellent flashlight backed by 2 great companies. I prefer the 23 because of the strobe action. I find the strobe on the nitecore more disoriented because of the different pattern VS the Fenix Strobe. Now for the Fenix 20, the pro's are 1, i like the no rubber cap for the charging port. 2, It has a good striking Bezel. Now i only have one Con is it can't tail stand and when you have the flashlight under a heavy coat and you are sitting down, it could activate the light but i didn't see that has a real problem. Now the pro's on the Nitecore 23, no 1 I like better the striking bezel with those little spike sticking out. No 2, The strobe is awesome compare to the Fenix 20. No 3 When the light is on and you have to go to strobe ( on tactical setting ) , it's almost instantly on strobe when the fenix has about 1 or 2 seconds delay. No 4, It will tail stand and it also protects the button from accidental turning on under a heavy coat. Now my only Con with the 23 is the rubber cap for the charging port but that was not a deal breaker for me and it appears a pretty good quality cap. Like i said they are both excellent lights and my main purpose for the light is self defense. It all depends what you want the light for in your case. They are both good choices. I have 8 fenix lights and this is my first Nitecore flashlight and i don't regret my purchase. I hope this help and let me know which one you decide to get . You can't go wrong with either of them. Good luck on your decision.

      @@rejeanpoirier6047 Hi Rejean, thank you so much for taking time to share your opinion with me. I really appreciate it a lot. I'm getting a flashlight for self-defense purpose too. I've read a lot about the TK20R V2.0 finish quality being much better over the p23i one, and the better usbc port covering system that you also mentioned. So these were my main concerns. I'll think about it for few days and will make my final decision (don't want to stress too much just for these minor differences and the more I delay the decision, the more I find valuable alternatives reading stuff online e.g. Acebeam P16... ahah)
