    I would have liked to have seen A) how do you raise/lower it tines into the soil and B) how well it does at deep tilling. Control "interface" with the operator and the unit throttle, starting, clutch engagement, etc. I already know i would prefer it to be "reverse-tine" rotation for a few reasons. But good potential for certain! Thanks again Sir, Great video!

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos, always interesting and entertaining. Didn’t know what you were talking about with the angles 😂 I’m usually watching on my phone with some crazy angle anyway. Definitely a nicer tiller to use than the older standard front tiller I grew up on. Only thing slicker is a tractor mounted 6’ tiller. My uncle had one and used it in place of a mower on his fields, certainly slows the grass recovery between cuttings, and mulches the extra roughage from woody brush and small trees. Stay safe, wishing you and your family the best and a Happy Thanksgiving. 🍽🦃🍁

    I actually had that same machine, which came with seeder/cultipacter, break the hitch pin and tear off by itself across the field at at least 20mph.
    I was alone, watching powerless to stop the demonic looking beast, praying it would not leave the property and kill someone. I'd just refilled the fuel tank so it could have been running for hours!
    It was flying!
    Initially, it went a couple hundred feet straight, then made two 200 foot circles, then went straight toward a fence line. Thank God it stalled out when it hit a tree.
    Make sure to check the security of your hitch pins and the two bolts holding the tines on.
    At one point before it escaped, I lost a tine bolt and tine came loose and wasn't engaged.

    Good test, and that "pull behind" tiller will save a man's back. That said, I can't say I'm impressed with the DR unit. That exposed battery looks like an afterthought...during the first start, you can see it shaking around rather loosely on the mount. Also, it is right in the firing line for anything those tines kick out...as are the axles/spindles of the machine...lots of dirt getting into places that will cause wear and/or damage. Back to the drawing board, DR.

    • @Dirtmonkey
      @Dirtmonkey  2 роки тому

      I think a well placed mud flap would protect this beast from itself.

    • @petermaczikjr1580
      @petermaczikjr1580 2 роки тому

      Yes, it throws dirt all over on top and the fan on the pull start shroud that cools the engine sucks in dirt too. I had a clump of dirt the size of a walnut laying on top of the throttle linkage. If the wind is blowing from behind, you it gets ever worse. I made a huge improvement by attaching 1/8-inch shield extending down 8 1/2 inches that bolts to the 45-degree kick on the tine shroud. I also believe they have the ratio between the pullies that drive the tines to close. They need to speed the tines up and not the engine. They dropped the ball on this equipment.

    One of the neat features of this tiller is the rear wheels. The rear wheels kick back to lower the tines CONTROLLED from the operators seat ....and.....this translates into a very LEVEL finished till.
    Several comments mentioned the location of the battery. I relocated the battery up to the floor of the operators platform on my garden tractor. Then I can use any spare 12 volt battery. available at the time...or....could also hook directly up to the garden tractor battery.
    A general heads-up is 'not to make sharp turns' while the tines are in the ground. It puts a lot of side pressure on the long tine assembly.

    • @Dirtmonkey
      @Dirtmonkey  2 роки тому +1

      Sounds like you have this bad boy dialed in.

    • @donwisner1586
      @donwisner1586 2 роки тому

      I've had it for a couple garden seasons.(Michigan) Having the remote at the operators seat is great. Control of depth of the tines based on the ground condition and being able to raise the tines out of the ground at the end of the row and immediately turn around and drop the tines back down is a game changer.
      You're all set up to do a part II video of the operational features now!

    Like someone below said, counter rotation would better. I agree. I had rented a tiller for our garden in St. Louis, that thing was so hard to control. I bought a Troybilt 7HP counter-rotating tiller to do the garden and that thing was day to the other tiller's night. I could easily control the Troybilt that had big tractor-style tires to pull itself along. I have had to actually hold the handlebars up to keep it from burying too deep in soft ground.

    Do you realize how lucky you were, when you laid in front of the unit, sitting on a concrete block with the tines engaged. If the tongue fell off the block it would have ran right over you. You could have been fertilizer for the food plot.

    I got to be honest I like this tiller but I’m on the fence. As a homeowner I could make use of it for filling my garden or some other uses. Then again I’d only use it maybe two to three times a year unless I could put it to work in some way to make money for me. If I could I would like to see counter rotating tines on the unit and something to where I could pull the unit to my right or left side like their brush cutters.
