Fall practice changed everything for me, I was terrified of falling and coming away from a top rope onto lead was a huge thing. Recently indoor my friends encouraged me to try some fall practice and it has really made me start to embrace and love lead so much more. I now cant wait to lead outdoors and I don't fear the whippers so much now, I am actually starting to enjoy them.

i'm glad you made this video, i just started climbing 6 months ago, 4 weeks ago I fell for the first time , and hurt my ankle, I'm still at home with my ankle swollen, I have to say I was quite terrified for the incoming of the first flight, but now I'm less afraid after that fall, I'll do more practice and can't wait to go climbing again

    love it. embrace the fail.
learning to fail well is the key to progression.
so relevant to most mountain sports. whippers look way more fun than smashing yourself off rocks in a kayak or a mountain bike or a snowboard, but it's the same principal.

  • @TrackpadProductions
    @TrackpadProductions 4 роки тому +56

I always find that the higher up I am, the less afraid I am. It's the first 10 or so feet that are the most scary, 'cause that's when you might hit the ground if you fall.

Haha wait until the lockdown reaches your countries! I was on a climbing trip in Spain until yesterday.
Yesterday the Guardia Civil closed our camp in Chulilla. The climber lifestyle is now illegal in Spain. It's illegal to live in a van and it's illegal to climb (outdoors aswell).
We are all on our way back home now, one of the only legally justified reasons to still be outside in Spain.

I really enjoyed falling and it made me a better climber. But I also saw what can happen to a rope during falling. Luckily that guy had a twin rope otherwise he did not just had an injured finger but lost his life.
