- Live in Stockholm: Wild Frontier Tour is the live video Recorded live April 25, 1987 at Isstadion, Stockholm, Sweden. as support of the album Wild Frontier. This album has several songs about Ireland and even the music itself is steeped in Celtic roots. The title track "Over the Hills and Far Away" was intended to be sung by Phil Lynott, however Lynott's death in January 1986 prevented that. The album is dedicated to Lynott's memory, with the words "For Philip" on the rear cover.
Gary Moore - lead guitar, lead vocals
Neil Carter - rhythm guitar, keyboards, backin vocals
Bob Daisley - bass
Eric Singer - drums
I was there, one of the best live experiences ive ever had. R.I.P Gary Moore.
YOU WERE THERE?
LUCKY MAN!
Damn. This dude was stupid good. My bad for not knowing sooner. His skills and passion are incredible. Why does Irish folk and guitars jive so well? Gary Moore was truly bad ass
👍
Ireland has produced some great guitar players!!! R. I. P. Gary and Rory!!!
1/4 Thin Lizzy (Gary Moore) + 1/4 U.F.O. (Neil Carter) + 1/2 Black Sabbath (Bob Daisley and Eric Singer) = 1 Wild Frontier
From this point of view, if not the best one, surely one of his best concerts live. Concidering hir rock performances. One of the greatest guitarists, but sadly the most underestimated one. And as a composer. Rest in peace Mr. Gary, and thanks for all of these masterpieces which enriched our lives.
I have always thought the same! Perhaps the best concert showcasing guitar playing excellence bar none....
Bija sam u banani kad je otišao kao i kad je otiša Cocker
Absolutely 👍
Totally agree with you there my friend RIP GM
Gary is a force of nature. You could not stop him.
This song is as old as I am...and it pisses me off that I'll never get to see him perform live....
I’m 24. Raised on stuff like this. Unbelievable.
I know he become much more blues orientated later in his career, and that's 100%, however when he played Celtic rock, he was the master!! Any of his own or Thin Lizzy material demonstrates this.
Watching a Blues Legend go Shredaholic warms my heart. R.I.P Gary Moore!
That is just why he was such an excellent bluesman, and had that "one more thing" which put him above more others: he was a metalhead playing the Blues. This is something which many Blues players, who are "old inside", won't just understand.
Gary was an exceptional musician , someone who played with an musical ear. His phrasing during the solos with theme and variation and the outro solos with incredible choice of melodic notes , his tone was always fantastic , vibrato and damn right talent is sorely missed . Very underrated by joe public but a player's choice time and time again.
he's certainly been one of my favorites since the early 70s....
OK.OK.OK. Music. Awesome. Thank you boys
Scomparso in circostanze misteriose, non era gradito alla corona! Un chitarrista formidabile!
Neil Carter was a brilliant keyboard player.
Absolutely amazing
Any lists of 'the greatest guitar players' without Gary Moore on them are to be referred to as 'the greatest guitar players who aren't Gary Moore'.
This is "obvious" man! Every human being know it by heart! Ha ha ha
Amen to that!
See: RollingStone's list, therefore useless.
Saw Gary 3 times here in Detroit and in 1984 was at the recording of his We want Moore live album and can be heard on the album yelling Garys name the greatest guitarist to ever play guitar in my book next to only the master Jeff Beck.
Gary was an unbelievable talent, saw him live twice, the first time was at a show in NEC Birmingham 1987, WHAT A GIG! i think he played a cracking extended version of Wild frontier too, i will never forget that show, stunning!
You lucky devil!
I was very lucky! ;-)
saw him twice 1987 and 1994...
Richard Watkins I saw Gary once. He opened for Rush after Victims of the Future was released and BLEW THE ROOF OFF THE ARENA!!
Saw him live 87 Sheffield city hall awesome remember it well
God... Singer's drums sound so.fucking.HUGE!!!!
Wow this truly equals power! Great performance, the nightwish version, which is a great cover by the way, lacks this kind of mystic and full band power, everyone here were having a blast fun time while playing this tight as shit, what a performance!! RIP the master himself Gary Moore.
BEST VERSION EVER!
Total beast mode! That key change gets me in the feels everytime. 🤘
Gary at his peak. Proably his best solo ever, at least i.m.h.o. Passion, taste, techinue and a great feeling for melodies and how to build up tension. One could not ask for more. Love this so much more than his later blues-thing, sorry to say this.
Agree....but the blues is what carry him. I do agree...some of his fastest shredding are in this period. Gary was a beast on guitar during early 80's.
We Want Moore us superb too. Also, GForce was dynamite.
What a lost for the world the dead of Gary Moore.
im lucky to see gary moore live once and thin lizzy five times they were brilliant apart and just sensational together no one can know how this song would of sounded with phil lynott doing the vocals but im sure on the next level
rated one the best iconic guitar players ever
I saw him at the Zenith in Paris , i'm a great fan , he was unbelievable
Epic! ☝️1987 was one of the best years ever. You had to be there!
Guitar Work at it's absolute finest, Rock On and RIP Gary Moore...thank you for the Inspiration!
As rock gods go, Ozzy and Gary chose the same bass player! What an accolade
2021, stills rocks, come on my rebels!
I remember going to many concerts of Gary Moore and wishing it would come to an end cos he would drag the songs out over and over again they were fantastic he was fantastic there's only so much excitement you can have in one day
it could surely be cool to see him perform
+Martin Simonsen Don't know if you're aware of it or not mate, but he died a few years ago.

Я могу смотреть это вечно. Гениальная вещь от великого музыканта.
Gary Moore✌❤🔥🎸👏👏👏
This solo is the greatest, thanks!!
I think the one on the actual Wild Frontiers album is better. The one in the video and in this concert isn't all that great.. and I say this as a huge Gary Moore fan. EDIT: Or you mean the freestyle at the end?
How I miss this man!
I'm borned in the wrong year. This is amazing dudeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Un buen recuerdo del genio y maestro Gary Moore
To anyone who says that you got to have a Hardtail American Telecaster or a vintage Les Paul Goldtop to have "the tone", this video proves otherwise: Gary plays a Strat knockoff with Floyd and one EMG in the bridge, basically all the things purists tell you to avoid - and it still sounds amazing. Gearwise, it has a lot more to do with the right amplification than stupid vintageism in my experience.
Anton Froloff That's not a cheap start knock off. That's an original Charvel San Dimas. Made at the original California factory. Those guitars are highly sought after nowadays.
Distortion has no biases
Word was they were working on releasing this on DVD/CD a couple of years back, but some rights issue got in the way. Bastards.
Feckin' tore the roof off.
Gary lives on and on with his music!!
Excellent/complete tight Band
58LP daisley and jake e lee (ozzy)and eric singer with jake e lee(badlands )
Thank You bro

gary was on a higher plain. rip bro
Desde España, todo nuestro respeto. Gracias por todo.
Such a shame Gary and Phil Lynnott aren't with us anymore...
Bob Fucking Daisley on Bass... legend.
Totalement merveilleux !!
Bloody Fantastic! So exhilarating! 🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man, what a concert! Why on earth has this never been published on DVD or Blu-Ray?!
I think the whole Virgin era of Gary's is held up in some management dispute.
@@progmeup There has to be some reason behind it for sure, and it is not lack of interest. What a pity if this is held hostage to business BS.
Awesome Guitarist Gary moore was
Wild frontier... fucken wicked
Fan att jag missa detta! :(
Tommy Johansson (Sabaton, Majestica) just released a wonderful cover of this live version of the song over at his YT channel.
To talk about Tommy, first you must mention ReinXeed.

With a wife & a best friend like that... who needs enemies?
Now I see why he's Tommy Johansson's hero!!!
Of course. Tommy now acquires or recreate exact copy Gary's old guitars. Amazing. Tommy is eating + breathing. Gary Moore.
Love Gary as a solo. But his contribution to black rose album epic

The same setting as Eddie van Halen....Maybe inspired by his playing?....In those days..
oh thats a great quality! Where did you find this?? I am waiting for the 25th Anniversary DVD Edition of Wild Frontier Tour video ..
This was in 1986
He totally "broke" the song omg !!
Why interrupt the video before the best part??
Over the hills and far better than nightwish...
Dude, you do realize that Nightwish did an amazing cover of this song right? Tarja was incredible in this and their live performance in End Of An Era was breathtaking man what the fuck
backflipmann
I like the nightwish version, but I like the original more....
Ok fine, but saying ''FAR better'' is too much don't you think?
backflipmann
no, the song is not called 'over the hills and a little away....'
Blackadder75 No, fuck you, this is so much better than that karaoke act
Fuck.
Just ridiculous.
Led Zeppelin ???
Gary was an unbelievable talent, saw him live twice, the first time was at a show in NEC Birmingham 1987, WHAT A GIG! i think he played a cracking extended version of Wild frontier too, i will never forget that show, stunning!
