Video's shared for my passion for the art of drumming of Dr. Steve Gadd.
No matter how tight or loose he tunes it, the drum always sounds awsome
Steve loves that mic.
I think its personal preference. I love the way Tony Wiliams tuned his toms. I think its best to let a head seat and stay on the kit for a while. Bed it in and dont change too often.
I prefer Drums NOT to sound like Drums but more of a Musical Instrument.
Tighten the head and tune down...
First time i heard that.i dont think it matters on drums but for steing instruments, no. You gotta go down, than tune back up to pitch otherwise it slips right back under tune
For me I have an easier time with a new head when I start higher and tune down. The head stretches a bit more and I can get the head in tune with itself better first.
There's a name for what you're talking about. I can't remember it, but I think it's similar to machine memory (or something). With a single machine tuner, it wants to be left in tension.
Apart from the fact that it's Gadd, he sounds like that grumpy tech that teaches everybody how to tune their instruments at the local bar 😅
Impresionant!! Thanks!!!
