She was called the day before by the investigators. They should’ve told her to freeze her account
@@technophant but she wasn’t totally honest with the investigators. When they called her to say it was a scam, they asked her if she had sent any money or personal information, and she said no. They asked her again in the second call too; again, she said no. I mean, I get it. She was probably embarrassed at that point and in shock over it all, but if she had told them that she had given her banking information or downloaded that app, I guarantee that they would’ve advised her better so she could have protected herself.
So now scammers are getting to us even if we hang up or don't answer. I'm happy you and Jaani are working hard to stay ahead of them. Thank you!

I had one message me in Instagram yesterday and try to steal my account, and last week a scammer in discord try to steal my kid's steam account! So yeah, you can't escape it, it seems.

I almost got sucked down this very scam one time when in a tough financial spot. I challenged them when they tried to get my card no. (there were no remote access apps for phones at the time). Scammer lost his temper quick and gave the scam away. I definitely got lucky because i desperate enough to probably have fallen for it if the scammer had had more finesse.
I love all the variations of "you're walking around in a circle" the hacker came up with after the scam victim said It one time. "And now you're making me round on circle?" 😂 24:03

I’m going to share this with one of my elderly clients who has been getting calls like this….I work with a mental health care company….
We ALL need to do this, great idea, make a poster for your own community,
with names of current scams, names of UA-cam Anti-Scammers!
Maybe consider activating "Call Screening" on their landline service,
ethically, it should be free, if not, get a handset with that function.

Interesting tactics. They trick the victim into thinking that they receive money in their account and that it's somehow "boosting" their credit score
so they can get a loan. Then they are asked to send the money back (which they never actually received in the first place) leaving them with less.
I worry that jaani is not being listened too because of his accent People may think he is part of the scam. Keep up the good work

It's a pity you cannot get info from a scammers phone with their own family contacts ... then contact them with a video of them scamming....via FaceBook or Tik Tok or whatever they use that can receive video messages. Imagine seeing their parents or grandparents and being shown what they are up to.
Unfortunately, some families know what they do and help them too. I would love to get their numbers to mess with them instead 😂
@@rinbow7425 I would find a way to put huge advertizing posters on the sides of large vans with scammers name + photo and just ride around the local areas in India with a tanoy playing the scammer on the phone to a victim. If police stop them, just say it's advertizing a new tv show starring ... scammers name....Police cannot admit knowing its not and its real ... so why are they not prosecuting if they know the scammers ? Catch 22 for the corrupt police. It's not illegal to advertize a tv show.

My 74 yr old father in law was scanmed and lost like $10k. It was basically a "help me avoid taxes and fees and Ill make you rich." He thought be would be rich for a couple of weeks. He doesn't talk about it now. We tried to tell him it didn't sound legit but you can't tell him anything. 😔

I lived in India for 1 year; I applied for a job it was scam job tho , that building holyshit morethan 200 scammers; they were stealing money froman innocent canadian, that sucks.
In that building, I saw an Indian-Canadian citizen doing dirty work.
The only reason I wish I knew how to hack myself was because I have a laptop and a desktop so it would be nice to access my laptop directly from my desktop without having to go back and forth lol.... but regardless I love Trilogy Media and the people they work with, like IRL rosie, in helping others!!!!! You guys are awesome, my mom and dad got scammed, They rented a home for 14yrs well the owner sold the house, my parents found a guy in the paper, this guy told mom and dad he could give them more time because the new owner wanted them out immediately the guy was African he sad give me $10000 and I can get more time for you ,to find a new place more time to pack up , It was all lies he took all there money and they had to move immediately, My mom and dad are old in there 70s , My mother passed away soon after ,I still have my dad, he trust No one now.

this story remember me couple years ago. i was living in europe. when i was clicking to send a request to a site about how to make clear your debt information so you can pay a litlle them to make clean clear debt so you can get a loan. but without my knowing to understand they took money every month 25 dollar to paid it. lucky after 2 years i just wipe out everything.and still didnt clear my debt information were stil the same. not have resulted my debt information. then i know ive been scammed by that site. i dont know about this different scammed. and who was doing this.there was in many diffferent ways to scammed people. even you have little money on your card or no credit card. they are still trying stealing money .its still hurting me.

Dear Trilogymedia I was at the post office the other day and their was an old man in line and he said he was shipping out gift cards I wanted to step in so bad but I didn’t know if he was sending them to a scammer or maybe a family member but I instantly thought scam but I wasn’t sure what to do it killed me inside because it most likely to me I got red flags right away and I wanted to stop it but I didn’t cause again I didn’t know what more can I do to make these things more aware in my area about these scams

I’ve noticed Scammers have a first name as a surname.
They usually don’t abbreviate their words in their messages. Their wives died 5 years ago, with a young child. It’s always been “5 years ago” for me.
One supposed 60 yr old told me he had an 8 yr old son. His wife died 5 years before. I asked him how old his wife was when she died. He said 55. I said she was too old to have a baby at 52. Of course he misunderstood my question. Apparently she was actually 35

Janni is such a great addition. But, there is one thing I would have you think about. When a scammer is talking to a victim, Janni calls them with less of an Indian accent, but still very noticeable. If they are now told by Janni that they are talking to scammers, when then hearing from Janni they may not listening. Maybe it is better to have someone with an American accent to call. The people who are being scammed may be a bit more forthcoming to listen to the fact that they are talking to a scammer. Just a thought keep up the awesome work all of you. I hope Janni is still staying safe.
Hey trilogy I wanted to say thanks for what you do I am a scambaiter myself with my own system and actually got a call from another scambaiter saying this is a scam ofc I just ignored it found it funny tho and encouraging as that tells me people are motivated to f over scammers

If I don't recognize a # on caller ID I don't answer it. 99.99% of the time they don't leave a message. They also spoof our local #s & I don't answer those either.

I am from India and the other day a friend of a friend who works for a scam told me how he got one couple blackmailed and terrified that the couple had to do perform sex in front of their webcam and everyone from their office were watching it live, these scammers are very sophisticated but all i am trying to tell here is you can catch them by the desperation in their voice, no tele caller would sound as desperate as these scammers to sell their product so you can catch them very easily, plus they are not fluent in the language, a professional tele caller would not do such mistakes.
And before anyone blames me to not to report that guy to the authorities, the police here in our country unfortunately not that sophisticated to understand such crimes and also it would have been life threatening for me to report such a crime.

This is crazy! I had applied for a loan online and I got call after call from scammers offering me loan's and I almost fell for one! And I would have if he wasn't forcing a $5000 loan on me!
