    but i wonder if throat-singing was the real sound the Egyptians used for their gods XD

    For one who has always been fascinated by Ancient Egypt, this channel encourages me to want to know more. Your information and videos are very professional and are spot on. I am a docent at DMNS and one of my favorite facilitations is the mummy cart where I explain the process of mummification to our visitors. Accurate information is my goal and your videos give me added info to interject when I go off topic. Thank you so much!

    Hey ASG....and amazing camera person. I spoke to the Egyptologist Curtis Ryan Woodside about this. He told me that because Tut was so young his tomb had not been finished. So Ay just rushed his own tomb and "threw" Tut in there....then took Tut's tomb as his own as he became Pharaoh and lived a few more years until Tut's tomb was finished.
    Anyway ASG, you should do a degree...or PHD in ancient Egypt.....you have to pick your particular time frame as it is soooo long.
    Much peace to you, amazing camera person, and suspiciously clean Reebok trainers 😉

      Hi Darren! Thank you for commenting. Oh, I still have to learn sooo much, but thanks! 😁 Tut probably chose this particular site to be buried in the vicinity of Amenhotep III (to underline the return to the orthodoxy and end of the Amarna Heresy), however he surprised everyone and died prematurely, hence Ay, out of concern or greed (noone knows), swapped tombs.

    From a Theistic & socio-political perspective, Akhenaten was the 'bad boy' of the collective Egyptian dynasties - a vainglorious attempt at hijacking one's way in obliterating forebears & succeeding kings/queens. King Tut, then, was a saviour of sorts, in reverting back to the original polytheistic religious orthodoxy, & I find it particularly savage that (his) effigy suffered at the hands of such a dysfunctional ruler, tho' as I understand it, his was not the only one to be defaced. Excellent overview, Irena !

    I've always been particularly fascinated by the Reign of Ahckenautun, ( sorry I forgot the spelling) , Tutankhamun, and Eye. The Pharos if the 19th Dynasty really went out of their way to try and erase the three from history.

    • @ancientsitesgirl
      @ancientsitesgirl  2 роки тому

      Thank you for commenting :) it's no wonder they tried so hard to erase any trace of the "Amarna Heresy". It was like a movement which wanted to turn the THOUSANDS years old Egyptian identity (religion, culture) upside down. 🙃

    I once heard the idea that when Tut died, Ay had swapped tombs giving Tut his tomb, and Ay took Tut's original tomb. I wonder if you have any thoughts about this idea.

    • @ancientsitesgirl
      @ancientsitesgirl  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for commenting. 😁 As I mentioned in the video, most likely Ay gave his tomb to Tut cause Tut's tomb was far from being finished when the boy pharaoh died, hence Tut's initial tomb was taken by Ay.

  • @justajo2

    Why is this the first time I've noticed that the reliefs are carved out of what looks like it was once a soft layer applied to the rock face? Was this a kind of plaster or rock powder mixed to a paste and then troweled on? There are places where this layer has flaked off exposing the rougher rock underneath. This of course is expected on painted walls which are much like frescoes -- paint on wet plaster. Interesting.

    • @ancientsitesgirl
      @ancientsitesgirl  2 роки тому

      Almost always in the tombs they used a plaster. There are few rocks in Western Thebes that can be carved in such detail.

    • @ancientsitesgirl
      @ancientsitesgirl  2 роки тому +2

      Since the pharaoh occupied a central place in his new religion, he had to reach for the traditional attributes of royal power, hence the snake on the crown ... I think so

      @@ancientsitesgirl Thank you for the reply. Yes, it's acceptable / understandable. :) too technical to talk about it anyway. But thx for sharing your opinion, I wanted to know. I guess the ancient Egyptian religion/belief was really immersed into so many ideas and concepts, it's really hard to compare real monotheism with that one. I think, maybe his belief should be categorized as Monolatry. 🤷‍♂

    • @ancientsitesgirl
      @ancientsitesgirl  2 роки тому
