Now this may just be due to the videos I've watched here, but this is the first time I can recall somebody being on the couch who's asking questions about the game, instead of it all being experts. It's neat.
mdudegamer I'm pretty sure it's just a different mode of bringing up topics, asking the questions we as the audience are asking, but it nice to not feel condescended
9:53 Pretty interesting how chaotic the speedrun route gets in these "collectathon" games, where you need to collect a certain number of dragons/gems/eggs, but more exist than you need, and route-planning becomes a sort of super-complex travelling salesman-like problem.
As someone who hasn't played this game, I'm just goin to say that this looked impressive and move on. He could just jump off a rock and I'd still be like "Whoa! How'd be do dat?" Still be enjoyable to watch, and I really like watching them without knowing what to expect.
I never beat this game as a child as I did not have a memory card at that time, and I never manage to beat it so fast before I had to go to bed. A few times I tried to leave it on, but either my mom turned it off or the gamesystem froze during the night. Gonna beat it when the remake comes.
Yeah the first 3 Spyro games all had Crash demos, and the corresponding Crash game had a Spyro demo on it too. Spyro 1 and Crash 3 Spyro 2 and CTR Spyro 3 and Crash Bash
I spent a whole year beating this game as a kid. Main reason being that I was 5 and my folks knew next to nothing about game consoles and didn’t think to get me a memory card. I simply started over from the beginning every time and didn’t know any better until I was 6 or so and got one for my birthday or something. Only then did I manage to finish it but I do recall getting super close a few times before my sixth birthday. This also happens to be the first game I ever 100% completed. Getting to see it done in forty something minutes is amazing.
nostalgia right here, i never got a chance to play spyro 1-2 as a kid as they was very hard to come by, i played spyro 3 and did it 100% though so seeing this brings back some memories + shows me what i missed out on :D
It was very good, but I must say though, the guy on the couch was annoying me a bit by being so damn afraid of saying anything wrong. He kept saying "I think" or "I believe", when obviously he knew everything for certain. He should be more confident in his commentary :)
He doesn't actually run the game so he wasn't too sure about what he was mentioning. He's a good friend though and he really helped with keeping the conversation moving during the run.
SO SO GLAD I CHECKED THE VODS! I missed the first day of streaming and I was really hoping spyro 1 was gonna be in the marathon. So happy to see ChrisLBC running at GDQ.
Not to say this entire run wasn't impressive, but the way he did something as simple as manipulate the camera to where he needed it, every single time, without fail, completely blew my mind
Is there a difference between the left and right twix packs. Since you do things quick. I was thinking I could get a answer here... consider it... a game
Am I the only one who thinks FROM software level design could be inspired by Spyro. They both have levels that tend to be circular and you usually end up just above the starting point. I also can't stop thinking about how the swamp level has mayan architecture and giant trees that vanish into the sky.
It blows my mind how he can do those flying levels so flawlessly...
They were the bane of my existence when I was a kid
I never thought you could play Spyro without once hearing “thank you for releasing me”
This game still looks impresive
Not to mention the amazing music. Most of those basslines are stuck in my head forever. Probably ought to binge some The Police now, shouldn't I?
Impressively bugged too
It looks impressive considering when it was released. Compared to today's standards though, not very impressive.
Vicious Pand4h Yeah, the game is beautiful from a 2 decades ago's standard.
Well... I wouldn't call it impressive, y'know?
So glad Wizard Peak was in the speed run path! My favorite level as a kid.
Middle Guy on the couch was top tier. Nice prompting for what otherwise may have been a fairly silent run.
I guess it helps the crowd understand more, though, since I'm sure some of them would be asking similar questions.
He didn't try to be funny, I guess, but he was good at exposition. He was familiar at this game, but he asked nice questions for the audience
DaCaveman the point being made is that he kept the couch talking which is far better than silent
Runner introduction starts at 0:08. Run starts at 0:19. Commentators are AlexDest, Caitelady, and SwordofSeals.
This is satisfying, good entertainment to have while working.

They have done it before but this person is not annoying or distracting like most of the other people I have seen in the same shoes during a run.
yeah sword also dabbled in speedrunning this game so he's probably just chatting for the audience
im personally not feeling it
I just love that he actually is an expert himself and just answers his own questions while asking them
Lovely run, lovely commentary. Perfection! Well done guys
One of the best games ever created...

Only hypes me up for Reignited.
ShinRyuuken I like your space dandy picture
The load times are amazing
Can't wait for the remaster. I can't seem to get tired of this game.
Also: Tree Tops still best level in any game

Always fun to watch some speedy Spyro! :D
Watched you practise this for so many hours.. nice to see you there finally running it (: greets venchx
i remember where i can access this game through cheat in crash team racing game, even only like spyro demo . glad to see this game in AGDQ.
Faris Fajar SDGQ not ADGQ
Yeah the first 3 Spyro games all had Crash demos, and the corresponding Crash game had a Spyro demo on it too.
Spyro 1 and Crash 3
Spyro 2 and CTR
Spyro 3 and Crash Bash
Faris Fajar I completely forgot about that
Nice speed run chris! Can't wait for the spyro 2 run
I could listen to the English guy talking for the whole event.
whats this? GDQ putting the run before the transition intermission? I thought I would never see the day!

CHRIS!
you and rezzy for couch
Great run. Spyro is great. Also I like the binary (BCD) elements that were added to the timer
25:15 What a recovery, damn
Commentary so goood

Wow this was so fun to watch, good job. :D
I always wondered if it was possible to get through that frog room without taking damage. Nice.
I just wanna give spyro a hug
Not to say this entire run wasn't impressive, but the way he did something as simple as manipulate the camera to where he needed it, every single time, without fail, completely blew my mind
That dude on the couch sounds like a young Stewart Lee
*I Imagine intensifies*
Hell yes
I had no idea you can supercharge into a fireworks chest, I just assumed you take a hit.
Nice skip at the end GG.
Damn, GDQ's getting slick
Oh man I love Sperro
Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day/night/whatever time it is as you watch this! :)
thank you! Same to you!
Thanks mate, appreciate it.
Spyro is Yoshi's dad.
What came first, the dragon or the egg?
7:38 "the end of the levels located right at the end, isn't it"
That frog room from Misty Bog tho
Its ma boy Chris :D the best channel on tw
Hey, I didn't know Skylanders had a spin off game!
I'm way too excited to see Caitelady on the couch. This is the first time I've ever seen a woman on one of these streams.
16:56 that dragon just came in like a wrecking ball
Oh boy
H e r e w e g o a g a i n
I'd imagine...
nice

So right about 11:11 the gem count is 1234, wtf???
4:18 1,200 gems? He only has 120.
Where can I find the schedules for the event?
You can find it at gamesdonequick.com/schedule.
Can he be in Smash Bros please?
First time I've seen a run where the people on the couch barely know what they're talking about. This should be interesting.
These kind of games are only finished when you have collected everything there is to collect.
Me: "spyro? Looks interesti-"
Description: "sword is on the couch"
Me: *Clicks faster then you can say Mario Kart wii*
