Nice video Dave! Great point about the difference between folks that “Roleplay” and some that just want to Roll the dice. I also feel the same about the artwork in books helps draw me into the game better.

This book is like a toolbox, but there's probably going to be sourcebooks with some pre-made characters, an equipment book, and Cobra books.

Great video! I just discovered your channel and you earned a new subscriber. I agree with you that there are very few flaws. But the big one is 5 pages of note space when all they needed was 1 page to photocopy from. The rest could then be used for base diagrams. But I imagine we will get maps and diagrams in adventures and source books in the near future.

I think we might get some of that extra material in those supplements. There is so much nostalgia there as well as so much history and lore built up that I would be surprised if they weren't able to put out several books/adventure supplements. I own the PR book and a friend owns the TF book. We've compared notes and have our complaints.
I sat down and read the Joe book at a local shop. Between the 3 games, Joe seems to be the best format for the system.

Just one thing is messed up is that cobra commander is level 20 which means, he will kick your ass in close combat. Why he would run after every episode like a bitch, does not match lol.
HAHAHAHAHA!
In the comics, Commander was a LOT more dangerous, ruthless and formidable. He was funny in the cartoon because it was aimed at kids.
That's what's nice about the RPG is that you can really get in and make it hardcore like in the comics. Of course, depending on you and your player's taste. As for myself I would probably run it more gritty.
Also a small point about the lined pages in the back of the book.... like the character sheet it's intended for photo copying. So you can make your own crude character journal. Which they do have a more in depth one in its own hardback book format for like $ 22. ( all 4 essence 20 games: Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, Transformers and My little pony will have these. Each one customized slightly for its game.) Though you're right idk why they gave us 5 pages worth of lines. Lol 😆
I realize though in this time photo copying is dated when most games offer a pdf format for their books that you could print off.. old school having them in the book I suppose but nice.

How do you make permanent changes to your personal equipment? Thanks.
That will really be between you and your GameMaster. As long as it's a reasonable request, they should grant it. It always depends on game balance and how the GameMaster runs your game. Most of the time it is a simple as asking and the GM saying yes or no and you writing it on your character sheet. Some GMs may have you spend cash on personal equipment if that is something they want to worry about. If your GM runs more missions as opposed to downtime or non-mission encounters, your Joe will probably be issued any equipment needed for that mission. Hope this helps! Really disappointed ... didn't have any flavor of either the comic book or animated GI Joe universes. I think Savage Worlds actually works better for roleplaying GI Joe.
I haven't had a chance to check out Savage Worlds. I'll have to find some time to do so. Maybe in later supplements they can get some of that flavor into it for you. Of course you should always go with the system that enjoy the most! Thank you for watching and commenting.!
