Thank you Brandi! My hope is that if I am very detailed in the tutorial - you will just able to craft along with me and not have any questions. You can just enjoy the journey. Thank you leaving another lovely comment. :) Jen
I received my first kit recently and wondered how to start. Thank you for the video because it sure helped. Now I realize I need to purchase needles and a couple of other things from you so I can start my candle mat. Looking forward to your other candle mat videos, Jennifer. Thanks again for your assist.
Hi Kathie - I'm so glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I hope you have a wonderful time putting together these adorable candle mats each month. :) Jen
Yes I wish I would have done that one. I would like to get into the wool appliqué but the current one is a bit pricey for me not knowing to much about appliqué and virtually nothing about wool. 🥲 I think this one would have been the perfect one to cut my teeth on.
@LawandaFinch just get scraps from old charity shop clothes or your own old clothes and jumpers or blankets ..many blanket factories have a tone of scraps perfect for this if you just ask around on face book somone will have scraps. You don't need to buy anything. The entire point of these crops is to make use of small scraps of leftovers. 😂
You're so welcome Adllee. That's always my goal to go over each detail so that you can be successful every time when approaching a new project. Thanks for watching and commenting. :) Jen
Thank you so much for this video. I quit purchasing kits because I don’t know what to do, and so I don’t put the project together. I want to do so many now!!!
I have an idea for placing the smaller pieces on the pumpkin. After you have fused your body, flip the placement guide over and place your face pieces face-down. Once in place, place the body on top (face down of course) using the outline as your guide. I would imagine the pieces will stick from the fusing if you want to flip to check before pressing. If you used the fusing mat on top of the reversed guide you can look from the underside and then fuse as is. You could also use either the pressing sheet or the layout guide to support the pieces as you flip it over then fuse.
Hi Jean - I love it! That is one of the best parts about reading customer's comments. I get to learn from my viewers too! Thank you so much for a great suggestion and thank you for watching! :) Jen
Thank you for sharing all your know how n tips as well as the newest notions to make the process easy n professional... do you have a retail store in Coure d' Alene ID also ???
When you’re assembling the pieces on the silicone mat first, do you take the backing off the biggest piece or do you wait to remove that backing until you’re ready to assemble it on the wool? If you did it first, wouldn’t it melt all the glue from the heat and bond and then not stick when you go to press it again?
The silicone mat we used in this video was intended to use with applique, so we find that our shapes don't stick to it when ironing the top pieces on. We haven't experienced negative effects of ironing these applique pieces on the mat, then them not being able to stick to the wool. Hope this helps!! -Michelle www.shabbyfabrics.com/c5278/notions/applique-mats
I would love to learn wool appliqué. I just started learning how to cross stitch. Do you all do anything with cross stitch? I recently started on a very beginner cross stitch and I absolutely love it I am addicted.
That's a great question! While we haven't delved too deep into cross stitching yet, we do have cross stitch patterns available on our website and we have some hand embroidery videos here: ua-cam.com/users/ShabbyFabricssearch?query=embroidery 🧡 -Michelle
@@ShabbyFabrics I will take a look thanks so much. I don’t do a lot of detail cross stitch as I am very new to it and just learning about the different cloths etcetera. I have been buying them from Erica Arndt here on UA-cam. I started following her for her homeschool curriculum she writes as I am a homeschooler. She got into quilting and designing her own things and this girl rocks. Just does beautiful things and very easy for a beginner like me. She does a vintage truck of the month, that I love. Thanks for answering. Blessings from Texas!
You may choose to store wool projects in an air tight container. This is also a great question for our Wool FB Group - facebook.com/groups/2338222796287434 -Michelle
Hi Carol, you can definitely use embroidery floss to stitch around the shapes. You will just want to use more strands that you would with cotton so that your embroidery stands out. Hello! To help clarify, according to the Wikipedia: "Felt is a textile material that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together. Felt can be made of natural fibers such as wool or animal fur, or from synthetic fibers such as petroleum-based acrylic or acrylonitrile or wood pulp-based rayon. Blended fibers are also common."
