Crews in Hollywood remove planters used to deter homeless encampments

- Some #Hollywood #businessowners are frustrated over the removal of #planterboxes aimed at deterring #homelessencampments in the area. The city says business owners installed the planters without a permit, but owners say they were forced to take matters into their own hands after their complaints fell on deaf ears. #homelessness #shorts
So why didn't the Council member approach his constituents when the planters were put in place and HELP THEM obtain the necessary permits?
Just another example of useless politics and politicians!
I don’t understand, you’re pro littering?
Prejudiced interests?
Because there is no such permit.
That's not really correct to say; there probably is. But there is no complete procedure for obtaining said permit. There is a procedure, yes, but there is at least one step in that procedure which is either not possibly to complete or is missing.
How do I know this? I've been dealing with bureaucracies all my life. If the bureaucracy can't be bothered to do something, then it will create and require a complicated procedure be followed, that either cannot be followed, or that requires so much effort that only the most dedicated person will see it to the end, and the price of having to do the thing once or twice is worth the benefit of not having to do it 1,000 times.

I think that city’s council needs to think again, I am sorry for all the homeless but the council should be helping them. The businesses also have every right to protect their own businesses too so if they can make their customers feel safe then why not leave them in place.

This is a MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS...not a homeless crisis. Get these people the help they need before reintegrating them back into civil society!!
The help they have for them comes with so many restraints, nobody wants to go . You can't even come back from your job and relax with a beer. Yet the people behind the housing drink daily. Not advocating for alcoholic people, but the stipulations are unfair and treat adults like children
There is no mental health care system in the u.s. would you even support the creation of one?
You know what makes mental health problems worse or even creates mental health problems? ... drugs . ...
Democrat cities just some how have these same problems with homelessness and drug abuse ... they make drug use and homelessness a non issue directly fueling the fires .
That being said I don't solely blame drugs or mental health.. some people don't care to live in a working society. They like being bums . They like spending other people's money on drugs and not worrying about bills or responsibility... you can "help" them all you want but it's making the problems worse.
That’s exactly my opinion as well!! Why are these people on street drugs? Partially because they can’t afford the ones that come from a pharmacy! In one particular bad year with me trying to get my Wellbutrin, while also having one of the best healthcare plans in my area, Not only did I have to fight to get it after taking it for around 15 years, but at one point, I just looked at the pharmacist and I said give me a price and guess how much she came back with for the month? $15,000!!! I was so happy to hear that my life had a price tag so if someone like me has too much trouble getting help and not just with the drugs, imagine when it’s like when you have very little money. The correct help is simply not out there. If I didn’t have my Wellbutrin, I can assure you I would’ve turned to street drugs. People blame the politicians, but it’s everyone! The lack of understanding of mental illness in this country is criminal! I’m not saying every homeless person is mentally ill but classically people turned to drugs to get away from their mental symptoms. it’s a big circle that has no ender beginning and leaves people with little money with zero net at all. It’s so sad I can’t stand it.!
They won’t take the prescribed medications, for one thing.
How come the city doesn’t remove the homeless instead since they don’t have permits to stay either? Seems like that would be a win - win strategy for the city since it’s so greedy.
Why didn't they give the businesses the option of applying for permits? A beautification strategy seems to make the most sense, & this was even done at the businesses' expense, not the government's, so what's their issue?
The fact they're saying kids shouldn't be subjected to SEEING homeless people... yet there's homeless kids. Imagine if the state spent money building shelters instead of stealing plants...
It is not primarily the states responsibility to spend our tax dollars and their time on things like this.
California is a hell hole. Homeless people deserve to be housed, and business owners deserve to operate. Not sure what the solution is, but every action the state takes is somehow wrong.
These people don't need a permit to live on the street and destroy areas.

Every day, I step outside my home in San Diego, and the weather is perfect. Everyday the last year, it's been perfect. I live in a valley where the ocean breeze cuts through inland and migratory birds fly over the top in these long flocks. Butterflies land on the flowers by my mailbox. Kids are playing in the street. I thank God every day that I live here.
And despite what yous see on conservative media, believe it or not, I rarely see homeless, _because_ _I_ _dont_ _go_ _to_ _skid_ _row_ .
I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist, but I'm saying conservative media obsessively focuses on skid row and homeless encampments. But most of the state, there are no homeless encampments. It's a state with 40 million people. This is a few square blocks, you're obsessively returning to, over and over. Orange County doesn't even have a ghetto, as far as I know, and the poverty line in Orange County is like 120k a year.
And frankly, dude, many conservative municipalities, they have awful problems with homelessness, but they don't really have to deal with it, because their climate is inhospitable, and the brutal weather pushes homeless out. Then they gloat, as if they've somehow solved addiction. Phoenix and Indianapolis, I've seen firsthand their homeless problem totally explode, and there's no "progressive policies" to blame (Phoenix, especially).

Did the homeless encampments have permits?
Did we all miss a meeting?
Maybe the planters identify as homeless and the city should just ignore them!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Might be the funniest comment I've read this week 😂

That's so crazy.. you need a permit for a planter, but not to have a homeless camp
It's under the preview of the city government. You are also not allowed to pull people over for speeding
SCOTUS ruled that the right to loiter is as important as the right to move.
Do you really believe a person needs a permit to be in public? That sounds authoritarian.
And they "cleaned" those up but won't touch trash, needles and literal human shit off the streets.
@@TheUnhousedWandererTo camp in public? Yes, most definitely
So now the Planters are HOMELESS ?
That's Species Profiling !😳!
Yes but they didn't deficate or throw trash into the streets enough to bypass the permit requirements.
