Fun fact: the jack character in this episode was actually inspired by an old Irish folktale called stingy Jack.
How did it go?
@@rae-raetheturtledemon. pretty similar to the story in this episode, except replace grim with the devil. More specifically, jack was a miserable old drunkard and generally just a terrible person. One night, jack encountered the devil at a tavern. He tricked the devil into turning into a silver coin and trapped him with a cross in his pocket. In exchange for his freedom, he made the devil promise not to claim his soul. After his death, he was denied entry to heaven for his wicked deeds. When he reached the gates of hell, he was denied entry again because of the deal he made. Instead, the devil gave him a single ember inside a turnip lantern ( jack-o-lanterns were originally made from turnips) and sent him on his way, forcing his spirit to wander the earth for all eternity.
Yep. And it’s pretty much why we have jack o lantern on Halloween too.
A Halloween classic! I rewatch it every year, as well as Ed, Edd n Eddy's Boo Haw Haw.
Also, that's Wayne Knight voicing Jack! Newman/Al of Al's Toy Barn himself!
Can’t say I feel the same way with the climax i laugh like crazy at Erwin getting the brunt of the pranks but then again im a cynic who knows the difference between reality and fiction to care very little for a joke character like Erwin even though this was one of my favorite cartoons of all time i didn’t take lessons from it because it was just dark dumb fun its not a cartoon for moral lessons just fun even as a kid.
please don't call yourself a cynic just cause you don't care for a fictional character's gag suffering. You are sane. That part where they criticized real humor at around 19:10 just killed me.
Modern people are legit unhinged to think this. Genuine thoughts, not even exaggerating to be mean or a troll
An always watch during Halloween for me is Coraline. Such a fantastic creepy movie.
I love the loose telling of the stingy jack story from Irish folklore in this episode.
I respectfully disagree, I absolutely miss this style of slapstick humor were it's a bit more "mean spirited". Stuff like this just makes me wish for those times where people didn't care and just laugh at the ridiculousness.
I think it would be an interesting story, mixing Rise of the Guardians with this.
Like all the Holiday characters where people at some point and how they became the spirit of some holiday
3:50 That gasp is something only Richard Horvitz can do
For a Christmas episode might I suggest you watch the Billy and Mandy Christmas special
It's not a cartoon, but for Halloween reactions, the stop motion movie The House on Netflix is a phenomenal watch!
Personally, I miss this kinda humor in modern shows. A lot of these shows in the late 90s and 2000s often had a solid focus on what kinda comedy they were using. Be it mean spirited, slapstick, adult, verbal, etc. And they often balance their various versions of comedy. Modern cartoons, however, only seem to rely on 1 type of humor, random humor, which by its very name is not consistent. Modern shows just have characters saying random words, phrases, or even sounds while doing random things. I'm not saying that, in general, it is bad, but without anything else, that's all it is.
If you want ideas for Halloween reactions, I would suggest the UA-cam series Vampair by Daria Cohen (that’s the channel’s name), it’s a story told through animated music videos about a vampire and the girl that decided to trespass on his property to read Twilight. Most of the songs are from Aurelio Voltaire, who you might recognize as the guy who had two of those featured in The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy (Brains! in the episode Little Rock of Horrors and Land Of The Dead in the movie)
... is it murder if it's demanded by the highest authority?
You asked for cartoon episodes for Halloween and I'm gonna unapologetically ignore the one condition you gave us, to suggest Goosebumps. Although not a cartoon, I can't think of anything that sends me back to my days of trick-or-treating and watching Halloween specials as fast as a good ol' episode of Goosebumps ('The Haunted Mask' being one of the biggest fan favorites). Now, putting that aside, and actually committing to the task, I do remember liking Garfield's Halloween Adventure as a kid 😊
Here's my halloween pun/joke: Why didn't the scarecrow get a promotion?
He was already out standing in his field.
Hehehe thank you that was nice
@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater You're Welcome!
"Murder in a kids show?"
Remembers Release The Demons.
"Oh yeah."
I'd LOVE for you guys to react to more Billy and Mandy.
20:18 Billy had a point lol
Y’all are taking me back and I can’t be the only one who wouldn’t love to have grims scythe…. Plus Billy was the quintessential idiot of my childhood ☺️☺️☺️☺️
only billy and mandy episode ive ever watched is the brains one, stoked to see another
I remember seeing this
I remember the computer games they released for this special
If I remember correctly irwin is part mummy and vampire and if it had gone the way Maxwell wanted he would have had his own spinoff show called underfist
Irwin is ¼ Vampire ¼ Human ½ Mummy
8:49 8:50 8:51 I never thought this episode could air with a decapitation death scene. You hear that fleshy sound when the scythe was swung?
My problem is that I hate dumb characters. XD
They just annoy me so much, it's hard to make them likable.
Hey this is not a cartoon but, you guys should watch the back rooms videos, by Kane pixels here on UA-cam. They are a series of videos that are based on the creepy pasta of the same name.
i just watched dead end paranormal park season 2, i'm looking forward to seeing your reactions!!
[Alec]: Love it! We're looking forward to it as well!
Wayne knight is good at voice actinh
Ashley Northrop
I can get what you’re saying, but forgive me for not feeling bad for Irwin and his constant hitting on Mandy
Yeah, that was a thing.
You guys also doing the Christmas one since you're revisting this classic show?
[Alec]: We'll probably explore Christmas specials from different shows this year, but always on the table for the future! Once we expand the show (going into 2023), I'd love to do holiday special marathons on Twitch where copyright restrictions aren't as tight
