    I am so glad portable monitors are becoming more ubiquitous. I have always been a fan of them, and I was there during the dark times of them back in the mid 2010s. So, it's good to see 10-bit monitors, 500LM+ monitors, and QUALITY come to them.

      @@natevirtual This isn't 10-bit, was making a general statement. This is totally 8-bit probably 97% Adobe RGB, supposedly 100% sRGB even though it maxes out at 300nits/lumens. There's a company out there that has an OLED option that is 10-bit (TRUE) Touch, Battery, MPP 2.0 compatible for like $700 USD. And then there's that uPerfect QLED that was my previous favorite, might still be my favorite. I like my XTENDTouch Pro, display wise it's great, software terrible. Can't remember brightness values, the anti-burn feature doesn't work, rotation is screwed up, no battery, terrible speakers, pen support is mediocre at best.

      @ross-carlson 2 роки тому +4

      Why is this impressive, what am I missing? Sure mmWave is a very cool technology but this seems idiotic to me - if mmWave was biult in my laptop or phone maybe, but if I have to plug something into my phone/laptop why wouldn't I just plug the MONITOR IN? Why need a dongle/puck AND a cable/charger for the monitor when I could just use 1 VERY thin USB-C cable instead? Tons of extra expense to deal with extra shit and lower quality (only 1080p wireless).
      Makes ZERO sense in all but extreme edge cases (that I can't even think of, can you?)

    • @TheNpcNoob
      @TheNpcNoob 2 роки тому +2

      @@ross-carlson it makes perfect sense and has a lot of use case. The main ones I see being cable management and portable emulation gaming.
      The last one being a huge market as I personally emulate the switch and find it hard to play via streaming my pc to my laptop, this 60ghz wireless display solves that instantly and also solves gaming in cars/planes

    • @ross-carlson
      @ross-carlson 2 роки тому

      @@TheNpcNoob But that's just it - it ISN'T wireless as it needs at least power. Sure, it has a battery so maybe for very short term stuff but it still has to be plugged in. I can see it being used as a second display for a laptop but it would be MUCH simpler to just plug it in with a thin USB-C cable vs needing to power it AND have some big dongle attached to my laptop, that would make zero sense.
      And lets not forget you only get 1080p wirelessly (which granted as this size is not bad). If a device had the mmWave built into it maybe, but otherwise why would you want a dongle hanging off your Switch when you could have one thin/light cable instead? And remember you don't get touch control over wireless so that wouldn't even work, or at least it would have a huge limitation that a simple, thin USB-C cable would not. Without wireless built in the device and/or touch working wirelessly I still see ZERO use case for the wireless feature, again at least until that is built into devices.

    • @TheNpcNoob
      @TheNpcNoob 2 роки тому +1

      @@ross-carlson it is wireless tho, like you said it has a battery and you can also pair that with a power bank.
      type c would carry power too…
      Think of it like a tablet, where you can stream your PlayStation/Xbox to it. That’s basically what it is just without the tablet functionality.
      I agree that if the wireless feature was built into media source devices then it would have more use cases, but as it stands it has plenty.

    I can see one of these working great in a living room. You know, best TV in the house, streaming devices and bluray player, and all the game consoles are there, but sometimes other people want to use the TV. Get yourself a HDMI matrix switcher (maybe four in, two out), and you can connect every device you want up to the inputs on the matrix, and have the TV on one out, the puck on the other. Say someone is watching Netflix on the TV, but you want to play your Xbox? No problem, just use the matrix to route the Xbox to the wireless display and enjoy. They decide to go do something else, no problem, with no interruption to your game (maybe pause to do it), just route it back to the TV and continue.

    I cannot wait until this is standard/normal tech in all monitors. I would LOVE to get rid of all these cables. I've got two computers on my desk running 3 monitors. That's 6 cables just for video alone. And I'm considering getting a KVM, which will add even more cables to the mess.
    Would be absolutely amazing if one day all 3 of my monitors could connect directly to both computers and have an easy way to switch...or have a wireless monitor KVM that does the single button switch.

    If these portable monitors had an on-board OS they would hit the nail!

      There are such monitors already, they are called tablets.

      @@Flamdring uh no, because tablets aren't that big, and you can't plug other stuff like game console on them because the don't have any input. Tablets are just tablets

    That screen is an actual tablet replacement, low res for one but still would work as one and had more uses nice

    2. Is it possible to use the monitor in a separate room
    3. Is a different hdmi cable needed

    I'd like to see you use it in portrait mode using Dex. Play some portrait android games if possible.

    How about plugging your phone in and using this as a tablet? The 13.3" might work well for that. I like using the NexDock in that way, but that's tethered, of course.

    After checking the review, I was blown away. Im using a cheap ass 130$ wistino 15.6 usb type c + hdmi as my vertical monitor when im at home (with my 27 inch 1440p 144hz monitor as main) and I yank it out and use type C with my macbook when travelling (3 to 4 months in a year). I wanted either a 1080p 144hz at least as a portable monitor which I can use at home as well.. but this seems to blow everythign out of the water.
    until I saw the price: "about 489$" in the kickstarter page .. yeah, pass. this probably caters to those with a specific use case. I utilize mine at home and on the road but almost 500$ is asking for too much. i dont need that wireless novelty but I'd appreciate the 4k... WIRED. lol. not even a mention how many hz it does on the kickstarter page.
    I lasted until 6:43 to be amazed but damn, if you mentioned the PRICE before everything else, i would've not bothered watching.
