I've been visiting there every vacation I take in Orlando since the early 2000s. I became friends with fhe manager Wally, and he introduced me to Kip Elder the founder of Starr Guitars. If it wasn't for that store I wouldn't have my favoueite guitar, which Kip built for me a decade ago. One of my favourite guitar stores, and irs on the other side of the world.

You must be talking about, the Orlando International Guitar and Music Expo in February & the huge Flea Market in Dade City Fla. Also on Hwy 441 Mt. Dora in January, you have Big Al's Lake County Musician's Swap Meet. In March you have the Sarasota Guitar and Amp show, there ya might see some body like Dickey Betts or his son, or Roger Mcguinn, or Robin Zander, (Clearwater). Bunch of musician's live in Sarasota. Cheers

Men At Work did that tune that you were singing at the end. They're from Australia, and that song was a big hit in the 1980s in the UK.
And on the second run though trying to spot the Chicken Head knobs that you mentioned I caught the large Big Muff by Electrolux. I bought one just like that second hand in my early teens, in about 1978/79. It says made in NYC, and a friend gave it a bit of an overhaul as some of the wiring inside had gotten loose. The wiring diagrams to these do vary, and mine is an early one he said.

There is stuff I went right by and didn't notice. That glass case in the bass section, it had a headless bass with a burl top in the bottom of the case. I didn't even see it. There is another flea market in January. I will go and do that one in 4k.

I bought all my acoustic guitars from them. I used them to be heavy into acoustics and still am too a certain extent. I bought a Ibanez acoustic electric from them and it sounded horrible. I tried for a year to make it sound good to no avail. It was the first time I traded a guitar and the technician said it had a loose bracing. They traded me a new strat plus 35 dollars and I played it until it got stolen 5 years later.

    Hi Hank
I noticed the large amount of views and your subs going up a whole ton with your last video.
Are those outdoor guitar markets common in Florida? It may even be worth a long drive if you find out about other ones. I've never seen or heard of anything like that in our country. Although we do have fayres where luthiers and maybe even smaller amp builders can demonstrate and show their stuff.
Great video Hank, very interesting with a great sound quality and visuals quality....and I've never heard of Chicken head knobs before!?!

The main part of guitar supplies now comes to Russia from China. The quality of the guitars is very different. I know that all Gibson and Stratocaster analogues from China sound good. But professionals and artists will never play the Chinese guitar on stage. The prestige of owning an American guitar was, is and will be!
