Perfectly done exercise video! Clean, uncomplicated, no unnecessary talking, no tough-guy attitude and all good info, no trendy, fake promise garbage. Thanks!
Great plank variations! I struggle with the reverse plank, it seems so unnatural. I keep forgetting to incorporate it into my workouts, thank you for this!
The most helpful plank video I've seen so far. None of the others I've watched showed the shoulder area and it was only when I watched this one that I realised I've been doing it wrong the entire time.
Awesome and good fit for me,, have recovered from A severe Cervical Surgery, am now a beginner again, It was so right on for you to remind to keep neck in the form you showed,, that is the most important for me to remember.. have a Great Day,, Have a Safe and Great Summer.
Thank god for content creators like Mr. Minus the Gym, because I'm a 40-something who's never been serious about fitness and nutrition....until now. I need to get it in gear, and aside from my cardio routine, I knew I had to tackle abs. I knew nothing about planks, and this video explains everything I need to know to do those planks. Question, though: if I'm starting with those low planks, how many of them should I do in a set, and how many sets per day (or do you ideally only do one set per day to start out)? If anyone knows the answer to that, please share!
Glad you like the content! I would start with 3 sets of planks in a workout, holding each set as long as you can with proper form. Do that 2 or 3 times per week, depending on how sore it makes you. Mon/Wed/Fri is an example schedule. Try increasing the hold times for progression as you gain strength and endurance too.
Thank you for your video on this exercise. The scapular protraction and retraction was a much needed part and all this time I was doing my planks wrong . Now I know better. Also thank you for the other plank examples.
Whenever watching a video of yours I notice that it‘s always about nothing than the actual content, structured, straight to the point, information based. Something you see very rarely in today‘s youtube. It‘s damn nice though:)
I'm 57 and used to be very active and in shape but I really let myself go in the past few years. I had a total left hip replacement September in 2021 and ruptured my right distal bicep tendon in 2014. My arm was surgically repaired. I just really need help getting back in shape. I'm relatively healthy but I need to take care of myself before it is too late. Will planks help me to get started?
What about boat pose, Any way excellent video, very good and easy to understand. After watching yr video, it has increased my knowledge and I will do all the plank from today Suresh - Bombay (India)
I used to plank straight as in straight because that's what I saw from the other videos here in yt. But It was wrong lol... I highly recommend this video to my friends.
I recently learned about planks and am interested in doing them. It's good to know there are multiple types of planks. However, doing the wall planks may mess up your walls.
Agnes Burklund 3-4 sets multiple times per week is enough. And typically you're ready to start working on a harder variation once you can hold the current one for 45-60 seconds, but I know people who've gone as long as 5 minutes with planks to build up their endurance.
@@MinusTheGym As a 45-year-old man, I have been looking for ways to get back in shape but have a bad shoulder. I can do planks, but didn't know the different ways it could be used or for how long. Finally, found that information here. I can do pushups but have to space my hands quite widely apart in order to do it due to the shoulder so I was trying to find other ways to get some exercise in. Thanks for the info, subscribed.
Tim Leo I like to aim for 60-second holds on basic isometric exercises and 20 or 30-second holds on more advanced variations. 3x per week is a good cadence with days off in between for recovery
Minus The Gym first of all Thank you very much for your kind reply. May I know can I do that more than three times coz i have the flexibility in my work place as well. However do i have to hold my breath and try to press my belly in as much as i can? Pls kindly correct me if i am wrong.
It's like you should try to do it 60 second which means at beginning you just start with 5-10 then gradually increase the time but the important thing is not how much time you hold it is about posture it should be correct .
Arvjay Then it depends. I like to build up to 60-second holds on basic isometrics like planks. But some of the more advanced versions (like the wall plank) I'm happy building up to 20-30 seconds.
Jessica Belfor is it during the straight-arm planks? You may not have the wrist strength to support yourself in that position yet. I recommend using this wrist routine to warm-up the wrists and build strength: ua-cam.com/video/W4lfJDrpEH4/v-deo.html Also, if you have any previous injuries to the wrists, you should see a physical therapist and get it checked out.
All about the shoulders which is ok but for good plank position you need to show How to tuck your hips under, which you don't mention. It's not about just sucking in!
Thankyou for sharing sir! you've a nice hot body. Starting today i'll do it to make some changes to my body too. Hope to achieve that same too. More power! 😘

Very effective planks. Keep it up bro :)
Which is best for strengthening core?
Good video thank you. May I suggest that this video would have been more effective if the music was not piped in as I found it annoying.
The long arm plank looks like the 'front leaning rest" position for the military. 😆

Each planks how Long to do ?
I’ve had vertigo my whole life I don’t know if I could do the wall plank.😮
how long do i hold a or each plank postion
I can barely hold a plank for more than 5 seconds! 😫 how long should these planks be held to see results?
It's like you should try to do it 60 second which means at beginning you just start with 5-10 then gradually increase the time but the important thing is not how much time you hold it is about posture it should be correct .
Is breathing is allowed in plank ?
ABHISHEK SWAMI yes, you should absolutely breathe during planks (and any exercise). Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Xclnt sir...
How many second each planks exercise ?
