Because Peter Dinklage opened his big mouth and made some controversial statements after Zegler made her controversial statements. The result was a 2-year delay as they had to restart the film at least twice due to fan backlash. The restarts (and costs for additional CGI work for the rushed animated dwarves) apparently more than doubled the film's budget. So even if the film gets $1 billion in ticket sales, it might not make any money due to the insane budget and marketing costs.
Cinderella is the only good Disney adaptation. Because it was an adaptation in all the right ways. This is just responding to criticism and complaints rather than embracing what people love about magic and fairytales.

If it is ‘live action’ , why are the dwarves cartoon? Shouldn’t they be real people? It’s kind of insulting to little people that not only are they denied key, well-paying roles in a Disney movie, but Disney has relegated them to the form of ‘mythical creatures’ that don’t exist in real life.

💯 Other actors came out and denounced Dinklage's comments - cast them. All this says to me is that Disney has every intention of relegating the dwarves to inane stereotypes, instead of developing them as people and characters - which was the actual complaint Peter was making in the first place. So, not only did they cheat minorities out of work (but they cast Ziegler, look at our "inclusion"!) they're just proving Peter right, but with CGI.
I honestly hate how the Snow White dress looks. It kinda just looks tacky to me. Like a costume you’d find on Amazon or something. It’s just too damn bright. In the original movie, her skirt was a significantly paler yellow, hell, I’d say even more of a cream color. Here, it’s some radioactive neon yellow. The upper part is also more of a teal color here, while the original was a nicer shade of blue.
Great points! The original dress has subtle colors and was a plausible costume for a girl from medieval Germany. This thing Ziegler is wearing is based on Snow White Halloween costumes. The CGI "sets" and backgrounds in this are just as garishly colored, while the original had a nice subtle color palette and a strong Arthur Rackham influence.
See, pretty much every live action Disney princess movie has had problems with costumes(Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, etc.). There’s a video by ‘art at midnight’ talking about Aurora from Maleficent’s costuming and how it actually works well. Disney seems too focused on making sure the designs translate well into dolls and kid’s costumes instead of looking whimsical and accurate on screen. I’m sure that trying to make Snow look ‘in character’ doesn’t help either. It’s like that debate about Cinderella’s dress actually being silver but becoming more blue overtime. Originally Snow’s colors were light, but they evolved to be brighter like a mild form of flanderization. If costume designers weren’t bound by the restrictions of merchandising, I’m sure we’d see better and more accurate designs for all live action characters.
Well said! I’ve also felt a sense of loss about Aurora’s original hair color. It was the most interesting dark ash blonde. Then it became such a bright orange or yellow blonde that took all the originality out of it.

Disney made the conscious choice to "be inclusive" by casting an actor of half Colombian descent for a character named "Snow White," but can't be bothered to cast minority actors for the dwarf roles. If their movie is as "woke" and "inclusive" as they're trying to make it seem, then Dinklage's complaints would be unfounded. Cast people, stop farming their work out to CGI. Disney isn't inclusive, they're just another large corporation virtue signaling with no actual care or intent behind their choices, which is why they caved to Dinklage's comments and ignored the comments of every other actor with dwarfism.

In "Lord of the Rings", Legolas, a blond, very pale, blue eyed elf, was played by Orlando Bloom, a dark haired, brown eyed, taned guy. Did it matter? Hell no. He got a wig, blue colored lenses and in the editing process his skin tone was scaled down to this almost alabaster that Tolkien's elves are supposed to have. The problem with Zegler isnt that she hasnt "skin white as snow", the problem is that she has presented herself as an unlikeble person, trash talking Walt Disney's legacy and the fans for liking the original movie. She actively alienated herself from the production and presented herself like an entitled brat - apparently with Disney's approval. Her skin never was the problem, her attitude was.

I mean, the costume design of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' was 1000% better. Charlize Theron was fantastic as Queen Ravenna. Her costumes were spectacular. Maybe it's just me, but Gal Gadot and Rachel look to me as if they are the same age, and Gal is much more beautiful :) And the cartoony animals and dwarves do not mesh with realistic people. Nobody cared about anything in this movie, no cohesion, no quality, no heart, I feel deeply offended - Disney is saying: we will give you shit and you will eat it, and you will pay us for it. I will not eat your cheap shit, Disney.

I don't know where to begin. I read a blow-by-blow account of the making of the 1938 Snow White, and Walt's uncompromising dedication to quality was the theme of THAT story. Not a line, not a single image wrong. Excruciating re-working of anything that could be improved.
Exactly, the company truly would not be a company without the success of the original film... It has been trashed such a shame. I rather watch that documentary than this cheap wannabe
I truely loved The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin too, and the reworked music in The Lion King. I go to every live action in the movies. I loved the first live action, 101 Dalmations too. The music is just soooo dreamy. If we can accept that someone like Rachel just used her right of freedom of speech, we can over this and just watch this movie because usually it is better than expected. Sure, the CGI is still not on point. They mocked what the Beast looked like before the movie even came out. When The Little Mermaid opening scene came on in the movie, the ship looked awkward like a piece of plastic in a bath tub. The Lion King Rafiki was mocked as well as scar being less... black. But if we can just accept that CGI is not that good now, that budgets exist, and that Disney is woke and a bit unromantic now, it actually usually is pretty good. I regularly make lists on my blog of charming little things I missed in the live actions versus the original and then I add the good changes they made. I wish basically they spent less money and time on CGI and more on chemistry, passion, romance, natural nature and charming details. A simple example: the white doves in Aladdin. Where were they? The large fountain? Sometimes I miss bigger things too like the wolves in ice in Beauty and the Beast. That was an amazing scene in the original.
Agreed, and her eyebrows look extra thick and awful. It highlights the ethnic mis-step from not choosing a pale, pretty and (gasp!) white lady. Remember when she said she wants to be paid for every hour that it’s onscreen? They should have agreed and sent her packing with $500 when it bombs😅
Maybe it’s just me, but you know what they could have done? They could have styled her makeup as if she was in the 1920s-1930s. You know, where they definitely have the fluffy swirl hair, deep red lipstick and the such. Short hair was the rage for so many women and female models/actresses at the time, so this would have worked for Rachel if she was styled this way. This would be a callback to reference the time period the original animated film was made in. But she can still keep the more fantasy iconic dress though. One thing I've noticed about Rachel Zegler's style in most movies, is that other than playing a character, she still looks like herself. I'm not saying this is exactly a bad thing sometimes. But as an example, like her debut Role as Maria in West side story. It's just a normal, long-haired Rachel. But with a 1950's white dress. In her role as Lucy Gray in Songbirds and Snakes, is something similar in my opinion. Here, it's just a short-haired normal Rachel in a costume. Compared to Live Action Jasmine in 2019 (Despite not many people seeming to live that movie either). Her Actress, Naomi Scott is British. Yet, she can put on an American Accent to close resemble Animated Jasmine. She also wears multiple costumes, different hairstyles, different makeup even. This just looks like a low-budget costume now. I swear actual cosplayers looked more of the part than what she looks like right now.
Bad casting, ugly dress, the singing voice is so wrong (to low and to harsh) for that character, CGI wherever you look (uncanny valley), the Queen is more beautiful than Snow White, they changed the plot as far as I know .... I can make fun of myself - I won't throw my money at Disney for that ...
I first heard about the trailer on tiktok, and I heard her singing the line "Listen while you work". It sounds so wrong for Snow White, who is known for her very sweet and childlike voice. I don't understand why they didn't find a better person for Snow White for the singing alone!
Like I always say… if so much of the film is gonna be CGI, just make all of it CGI, including Snow White, she’d probably end up looking like a real life version of the original instead of this nepotism baby.

My daughter is an animator and has worked on some pretty big projects. She's good at the tedious details in the back ground no one else wants to do because it is too labor intensive for little attention. The character art is what they want, but since my daughter does the drudge work they give her character work too. She says this is CRAP!
Likely cause they scrapped half of the project cause of the backlash the original concept got. Those running the company are doing a horrible job with the quality, Wish is another example of not taking the time to complete the look. Coming from someone who majored in animation, I really hope your daughter is in a work environment that appreciates and respects her skills.

The poor casting happened due to controversies and politics though. Snow white here is a latina that barged her way in through nepotism. And then they made a political stance on hiring little people which caused conflict and then it ended in doubling their budget as well. So that ends with, nepotism, political controversy, discrimination against people with a different physical appearance that they got no control over and budgetting problems. Bad casting is like at the end of the list of issues. xD

Filmmakers in the past had so much less technology, and yet achieved so much more. I'd rather watch shadows puppets on a wall where there is some genuine life and heart than something like this, where they've spent so much and yet there is nothing remotely captivating about it. It really seems like Hollywood filmmakers these days don't know what heart is, because they clearly can't recognise when their work hasn't got it! Also, even if the cgi was polished and detailed, the style still has an AI-like vibe, which, regardless of how sophisticated the technology may be that produces it, we've already learned to associate haste and cheapness. Superficial and forgettable before it's even begun.
Mixing live action & animation is what hooked us, it was their thing. 6 decades later they still get a spot in my budget. The projects they have produced in the last 10 yrs did not & will not secure lifelong Disney fans & they are purposely losing Star Wars fanatics. It’s mind boggling.
There are amazing animations done in the shadow puppet technique, like french "Princes et Princesses". The issue is not even technology, tbh. The issue is that movie makers don't really want to say anything by making this movie. This movie is not done for creativity, or idea, or life lessons, or even entertainment. This movie is done for quick buck, as all current remakes, and it shows. Painfully.
I honestly thought the teaser was somebody's AI concept trailer at first. The CGI and animated characters have that look - both artistically bland and a bit "off." Also, Ziegler's haircut is unflattering, her costume is ghastly, and she has the same creepy narcissistic smile as Meghan Markle. This film will be a trainwreck.

The biggest plot hole is that Gal Gadot is way hotter than Rachel Ziegler. In the original, Snow White and her forest creature friends clean up the dwarves' house before they get home. Looks like they have Snow White singing while she makes the dwarves clean.
They make a movie dark so they don't have to worry about getting details right. Darkness can hide the cheapness of 3D effects. it is an awful visual trend for sure. Old animated classics used to be very colorful and popping.

I'm half Hispanic and already hate this pile of crap! The scenery and CGI looks great, but Rachel was NOT a good choice for this role! This is one Disney remake I had high hopes for, seeing this breaks my heart 💔 In a perfect world, they would've hired an actress with pale, white skin and black hair. Someone who matches the description of the original.
They could just make a NEW STORY (what a wild concept) to fit Hispanic casting if they wanted to cast a Hispanic woman, but no, they have to change an established character for some reason (specifically one named “Snow White”; her name literally describing her skin color and her features being specified in the fairy tale as a main plot point to the story)

I find it interesting about the theme of green, it could be used in multiple ways depending on how well it is portrayed. It can symbolize jealously, evil, magic, could be youthful, nature, $, etc. It could be foreshadowing for a different reason imo why the prince is wearing green, as in this shot he is camouflaged in the forest, blending in the background. It greatly contrasts with Snow White in her vibrant yellow skirt. Snow White’s skirt is more of a pale yellow or a cream color, having attention draw to her but not to that extent. In Walt’s original version, the prince was in an attire that kind of defined the regal prince persona, long white shirt with a tunic, blue/grey pants, boots, and a cape. Apparently the prince was the hardest character for the animators to draw and animate so he was given less time, originally he was supposed to be captured by the evil queen but they scraped it.
Yes. They went PC and instead of hiring actual actors with dwarfism, giving them a paycheck; they hired a diverse group of people who were “magical creatures “ and not dwarves. People complained and again, instead of hiring dwarf actors, they made them cgi.

Snow White as a character is supposed to be a soft spoken, innocent, humble, and caring young woman. Rachel Zegler is doing all the wrong things with her performance. Instead of an angelic, operatic type voice, Zegler’s singing in this film is like that one girl that got the lead in the school musical and wants to show off as much as possible. Also, that poop eating grin and sassy facial expressions remove me further from the fantasy. Not only does Zegler look nothing like Snow White, she doesn’t even act like Snow White. And don’t even get me started on the godawful wardrobe. The hair is giving Lord Farquaad and the dress is giving Halloween costume bought off of Temu.

I don't think they got a single thing right from what I've seen so far. The costumes are hair are hideous (Cosplayers have made gorgeous re-designs of the dress that works so much better especially against the harsh yellow bottom and blue top. Also the hair style was based on the time and what was in style. If they wanted to pay homage to it they could have had her have long beautiful hair that the queen violently chops off, then the dwarfs could help her cut it to make it look nicer. Also the prince in green in a green forest! That's noob mistakes), backgrounds flat (I sometimes what to say there pretty, that maybe the idea was there, but it wasn't given the time and re-working it obviously needs) The dwarves yikes. This always pisses me off the most. Short people don't get acting roles a lot, and this is one of the few stories they are casted in. Also the evil Queen didn't look evil enough. I need a sharper jawline. She's gorgeous, but not deliciously evil. Also that black outfit made me gage. The tester and light reflection was weird. Out of all the Disney movies, Snow White was one if not the top one that deserved a re-make the most. There was almost even a Snow White and Rose Red movie based on the fairy tale. Would have much preferred that and for god sakes, if you can't take the time to build a set or go location hunting to cut down the animation/cgi needed, then you better put in the work to make those backgrounds look good.

Should be the opposite, unless Prince Charming is suddenly a bad person and the queen actually has a background that makes you empathise with her.

The evil queen is supposed to HAVE BEEN the most beautiful once, but she aged and snow grew into the young woman who'd replace her. Gadot is definitely too young and Fresh looking(good for her!) to be playing a villain who's biggest characteristic is the search for eternal youth and beauty. This was done well with Gothel( tangled) and Julia Roberts in mirror mirror. You can't just put dark makeup to make someone look like a villain. This is FILM, not theater! The medium begs for accuracy in casting because the camera shows them from every single angle. Otherwise, the actor just looks like they're doing cosplay.

It is absolutely absurd that they couldn’t find a young, beautiful, very fair skinned woman to play SNOW WHITE. Added to the fact that Ziegler’s abrasive, annoying personality traits makes it hard for me to buy her playing the sweet, demure, kind Snow White. The casting is such a joke.

I think I know why the dresses of this snow white looks so "costumey" to me. They probably want it to be easy to replicate as an actual costumes for children or adult halloween parties. Easy shapes, easy dress cut with bold colors.
I actually really like how dreamy it looks. With the design of the animals and dwarves, it almost looks like a watercolor painting come to life. I’ll applaud them for doing something different aesthetic-wise. The Snow White styling and costume is terrible. Wish they would’ve done something more ethereal and “pretty.” Disney has been physically over-simplifying their recent princesses and dressing them in unflattering and over-structured dresses. 1920/30s inspired hair and makeup styling with a more regal/ less saturated gown would’ve saved the character design
But I feel it missed the spirit of Snow White, as the only magic in the film is done by the evil queen. The cottage and the animals are based in reality, therefore more peaceful and calm. I feel the over saturation takes from the intimacy and simplicity that's a beautiful part of the story, and that directly contrasts with the artificiality and vibrant colors related to the queen.
Dude, ANYTHING is better than the woke dwarf ensemble. I DO agree that they messed up in casting, because Gal is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.
I think the dwarves are living in a Thomas Kincaid painting. I have no particular hatred for that art style; it's just they seem to live in a completely separate universe to the Evil Queen. Is there a rip in the space time continuum between the dwarves' property and the castle? I don't expect the color and lighting scheme to be the same between a cold castle of evil, and the dwarves warm and isolated cottage. But I would hope they at least look like they belong in the same movie.
Are the “7 magical creatures” now voicing the dwarves? I wouldn’t put it past Disney to do something that stupid, they thought hiring a woman to voice Scuttle was a good idea after all! Considering the original Ursula was designed after a drag queen, Woke Disney literally had the perfect opportunity to organically incorporate a LGTQIA+ actor/character staring them in the face but were too busy race and gender swapping to realize it! I saw Queen Latifah playing Ursula on stage once and she would have been a much better choice than Melissa McCarthy, that’s a race swap I wouldn’t have minded. I honestly didn’t have much of a problem with the Ariel race swap when I first heard about it as long as the girl could act. It could’ve made sense compared to race swapping Snow White for a Latin actress considering most islands in that area are inhabited mostly by black people. But I knew they couldn’t stop there and actually predicted that her sisters would be a mix of races!🤦🏻♀️ Though I never thought they’d hire a Latin actor to be her DAD!, or infer that the daughters somehow shared a MOM! That shit’s to illogical for any rational/non-woke person to guess.
To be fair, the original Snow White was drawn as a real person with five fingers. The dwarves, however, were drawn as cartoon characters. They had four fingers and huge cartoon noses. The animals were also drawn a bit cartoonish, so the new movie is actually being somewhat true to the original.
Because apparently white people aren’t even allowed to be cast as the main role in a princess movie in which one of her defining features is her pale skin. We’ve reached a level of absurdity I’d never thought we’d reach.

Because Peter Dinklage opened his big mouth and made some controversial statements after Zegler made her controversial statements. The result was a 2-year delay as they had to restart the film at least twice due to fan backlash. The restarts (and costs for additional CGI work for the rushed animated dwarves) apparently more than doubled the film's budget. So even if the film gets $1 billion in ticket sales, it might not make any money due to the insane budget and marketing costs.

If it is ‘live action’ , why are the dwarves cartoon? Shouldn’t they be real people? It’s kind of insulting to little people that not only are they denied key, well-paying roles in a Disney movie, but Disney has relegated them to the form of ‘mythical creatures’ that don’t exist in real life.

I honestly hate how the Snow White dress looks. It kinda just looks tacky to me. Like a costume you’d find on Amazon or something. It’s just too damn bright. In the original movie, her skirt was a significantly paler yellow, hell, I’d say even more of a cream color. Here, it’s some radioactive neon yellow. The upper part is also more of a teal color here, while the original was a nicer shade of blue.
Great points! The original dress has subtle colors and was a plausible costume for a girl from medieval Germany. This thing Ziegler is wearing is based on Snow White Halloween costumes. The CGI "sets" and backgrounds in this are just as garishly colored, while the original had a nice subtle color palette and a strong Arthur Rackham influence.
See, pretty much every live action Disney princess movie has had problems with costumes(Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, etc.). There’s a video by ‘art at midnight’ talking about Aurora from Maleficent’s costuming and how it actually works well. Disney seems too focused on making sure the designs translate well into dolls and kid’s costumes instead of looking whimsical and accurate on screen. I’m sure that trying to make Snow look ‘in character’ doesn’t help either. It’s like that debate about Cinderella’s dress actually being silver but becoming more blue overtime. Originally Snow’s colors were light, but they evolved to be brighter like a mild form of flanderization. If costume designers weren’t bound by the restrictions of merchandising, I’m sure we’d see better and more accurate designs for all live action characters.
Well said! I’ve also felt a sense of loss about Aurora’s original hair color. It was the most interesting dark ash blonde. Then it became such a bright orange or yellow blonde that took all the originality out of it.

In "Lord of the Rings", Legolas, a blond, very pale, blue eyed elf, was played by Orlando Bloom, a dark haired, brown eyed, taned guy. Did it matter? Hell no. He got a wig, blue colored lenses and in the editing process his skin tone was scaled down to this almost alabaster that Tolkien's elves are supposed to have. The problem with Zegler isnt that she hasnt "skin white as snow", the problem is that she has presented herself as an unlikeble person, trash talking Walt Disney's legacy and the fans for liking the original movie. She actively alienated herself from the production and presented herself like an entitled brat - apparently with Disney's approval. Her skin never was the problem, her attitude was.

I'm not going to even hate watch it. What is this abysmal costume design? There are Halloween costumes that look better than this nonsense. I mean, the costume design of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' was 1000% better. Charlize Theron was fantastic as Queen Ravenna. Her costumes were spectacular. Maybe it's just me, but Gal Gadot and Rachel look to me as if they are the same age, and Gal is much more beautiful :) And the cartoony animals and dwarves do not mesh with realistic people. I don't know where to begin. I read a blow-by-blow account of the making of the 1938 Snow White, and Walt's uncompromising dedication to quality was the theme of THAT story. Not a line, not a single image wrong. Excruciating re-working of anything that could be improved.

I truely loved The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin too, and the reworked music in The Lion King. I go to every live action in the movies. I loved the first live action, 101 Dalmations too. The music is just soooo dreamy. If we can accept that someone like Rachel just used her right of freedom of speech, we can over this and just watch this movie because usually it is better than expected. Sure, the CGI is still not on point. They mocked what the Beast looked like before the movie even came out. When The Little Mermaid opening scene came on in the movie, the ship looked awkward like a piece of plastic in a bath tub. The Lion King Rafiki was mocked as well as scar being less... black. But if we can just accept that CGI is not that good now, that budgets exist, and that Disney is woke and a bit unromantic now, it actually usually is pretty good. I regularly make lists on my blog of charming little things I missed in the live actions versus the original and then I add the good changes they made. I wish basically they spent less money and time on CGI and more on chemistry, passion, romance, natural nature and charming details. A simple example: the white doves in Aladdin. Where were they? The large fountain? Sometimes I miss bigger things too like the wolves in ice in Beauty and the Beast. That was an amazing scene in the original.

Maybe it’s just me, but you know what they could have done? They could have styled her makeup as if she was in the 1920s-1930s. You know, where they definitely have the fluffy swirl hair, deep red lipstick and the such. Short hair was the rage for so many women and female models/actresses at the time, so this would have worked for Rachel if she was styled this way. This would be a callback to reference the time period the original animated film was made in. But she can still keep the more fantasy iconic dress though.
One thing I've noticed about Rachel Zegler's style in most movies, is that other than playing a character, she still looks like herself. I'm not saying this is exactly a bad thing sometimes. But as an example, like her debut Role as Maria in West side story. It's just a normal, long-haired Rachel. But with a 1950's white dress. In her role as Lucy Gray in Songbirds and Snakes, is something similar in my opinion. Here, it's just a short-haired normal Rachel in a costume.
Compared to Live Action Jasmine in 2019 (Despite not many people seeming to live that movie either). Her Actress, Naomi Scott is British. Yet, she can put on an American Accent to close resemble Animated Jasmine. She also wears multiple costumes, different hairstyles, different makeup even.
This just looks like a low-budget costume now. I swear actual cosplayers looked more of the part than what she looks like right now.

I first heard about the trailer on tiktok, and I heard her singing the line "Listen while you work". It sounds so wrong for Snow White, who is known for her very sweet and childlike voice. I don't understand why they didn't find a better person for Snow White for the singing alone!

My daughter is an animator and has worked on some pretty big projects. She's good at the tedious details in the back ground no one else wants to do because it is too labor intensive for little attention. The character art is what they want, but since my daughter does the drudge work they give her character work too. She says this is CRAP!
Likely cause they scrapped half of the project cause of the backlash the original concept got. Those running the company are doing a horrible job with the quality, Wish is another example of not taking the time to complete the look.
Coming from someone who majored in animation, I really hope your daughter is in a work environment that appreciates and respects her skills.

Filmmakers in the past had so much less technology, and yet achieved so much more. I'd rather watch shadows puppets on a wall where there is some genuine life and heart than something like this, where they've spent so much and yet there is nothing remotely captivating about it. It really seems like Hollywood filmmakers these days don't know what heart is, because they clearly can't recognise when their work hasn't got it! Also, even if the cgi was polished and detailed, the style still has an AI-like vibe, which, regardless of how sophisticated the technology may be that produces it, we've already learned to associate haste and cheapness. Superficial and forgettable before it's even begun.
Mixing live action & animation is what hooked us, it was their thing. 6 decades later they still get a spot in my budget. The projects they have produced in the last 10 yrs did not & will not secure lifelong Disney fans & they are purposely losing Star Wars fanatics. It’s mind boggling.
There are amazing animations done in the shadow puppet technique, like french "Princes et Princesses".

I honestly thought the teaser was somebody's AI concept trailer at first. The CGI and animated characters have that look - both artistically bland and a bit "off." Also, Ziegler's haircut is unflattering, her costume is ghastly, and she has the same creepy narcissistic smile as Meghan Markle. This film will be a trainwreck.

I find it interesting about the theme of green, it could be used in multiple ways depending on how well it is portrayed. It can symbolize jealously, evil, magic, could be youthful, nature, $, etc. It could be foreshadowing for a different reason imo why the prince is wearing green, as in this shot he is camouflaged in the forest, blending in the background. It greatly contrasts with Snow White in her vibrant yellow skirt. Snow White’s skirt is more of a pale yellow or a cream color, having attention draw to her but not to that extent.
In Walt’s original version, the prince was in an attire that kind of defined the regal prince persona, long white shirt with a tunic, blue/grey pants, boots, and a cape. Apparently the prince was the hardest character for the animators to draw and animate so he was given less time, originally he was supposed to be captured by the evil queen but they scraped it.

It looks like something that got a lot of reference and ideas by AI, it makes me think of the AI's dreamy and lighting, maybe it's only what I see.. not saying it was made with AI, saying that it looks like stuff AI would make and they just used it as a reference

@@AirConditioner402 yes! And the dwarves... they give uncanny valley feels, just like AI character illustrations. It is not a normal thing that an animation has that feel, animators usually know how to put human emotions on their work.

All these Disney cashgrab remakes have huge budgets and blurry CGI. They can't even be arsed to upload any of their trailers in 4K. Tells you everything you need to know about their ethos on attention to quality.
I think corners were cut in the animation in order to save money on a movie that was slated before it was even finished.
They had a loooot of reshoots so I’m thinking they ran out of time or else they would have to spend waaay over their budget. So the dwarves were rushed.
I’ll probably get paid for this, but I really don’t care not only is the CGI got awful but Rachel Segler is God awful and don’t even get me started on the way she butchers whistle while you work snow White is supposed to have a bell like soprano voice, I don’t even singing, but also speaking and we already know that isn’t going to have that speaking and she didn’t even try to have it when she snow White into a Diva alto alto vocal range alto vocal range and it’s the whole thing is awful and it’s gonna fail. It’s gonna fail no wonder the trail ratio.

Snow White as a character is supposed to be a soft spoken, innocent, humble, and caring young woman. Rachel Zegler is doing all the wrong things with her performance. Instead of an angelic, operatic type voice, Zegler’s singing in this film is like that one girl that got the lead in the school musical and wants to show off as much as possible. Also, that poop eating grin and sassy facial expressions remove me further from the fantasy. Not only does Zegler look nothing like Snow White, she doesn’t even act like Snow White.
And don’t even get me started on the godawful wardrobe. The hair is giving Lord Farquaad and the dress is giving Halloween costume bought off of Temu.

It is - like so many films before this one - so sad, dark, without light and always in the same shade ......... I feel unconfortable with such films 😔
I don't think they got a single thing right from what I've seen so far. The costumes are hair are hideous (Cosplayers have made gorgeous re-designs of the dress that works so much better especially against the harsh yellow bottom and blue top. Also the hair style was based on the time and what was in style. If they wanted to pay homage to it they could have had her have long beautiful hair that the queen violently chops off, then the dwarfs could help her cut it to make it look nicer. Also the prince in green in a green forest! That's noob mistakes), backgrounds flat (I sometimes what to say there pretty, that maybe the idea was there, but it wasn't given the time and re-working it obviously needs) The dwarves yikes. This always pisses me off the most. Short people don't get acting roles a lot, and this is one of the few stories they are casted in. Also the evil Queen didn't look evil enough. I need a sharper jawline. She's gorgeous, but not deliciously evil. Also that black outfit made me gage. The tester and light reflection was weird. Out of all the Disney movies, Snow White was one if not the top one that deserved a re-make the most. There was almost even a Snow White and Rose Red movie based on the fairy tale. Would have much preferred that and for god sakes, if you can't take the time to build a set or go location hunting to cut down the animation/cgi needed, then you better put in the work to make those backgrounds look good.
14:33 the interesting thing is they also portray the prince in a colder/yellowy shade of green, while the queen has a warmer, brownish/orange style of green. Should be the opposite, unless Prince Charming is suddenly a bad person and the queen actually has a background that makes you empathise with her.
Compare this to the great film Mary Poppins ,which combined real life and animation .....no comparison in quality...this snow is shite

At this point, Disney has decided that they want to completely destroy their studio. They want to burn it to the ground, and sow that ground with salt. They will be remembered as the studio that purposefully ignored voices of reason, and finally obliterated the legacy of Walt Disney. (slow clap)
Why make the queen have flawless beauty. They should have shown some flaws so it would make more sense. I just don’t like this.

The evil queen is supposed to HAVE BEEN the most beautiful once, but she aged and snow grew into the young woman who'd replace her. Gadot is definitely too young and Fresh looking(good for her!) to be playing a villain who's biggest characteristic is the search for eternal youth and beauty. This was done well with Gothel( tangled) and Julia Roberts in mirror mirror. You can't just put dark makeup to make someone look like a villain. This is FILM, not theater! The medium begs for accuracy in casting because the camera shows them from every single angle. Otherwise, the actor just looks like they're doing cosplay.

Someone who's desperate to preserve her beauty vs. Snow White's natural, innocent looks. Which, sadly, Rachel Zegler doesn't go for at all, she seems like a mean girl, which makes Gal Gadot as the Queen even less convincing because you don't have the contrast.

I think I know why the dresses of this snow white looks so "costumey" to me. They probably want it to be easy to replicate as an actual costumes for children or adult halloween parties. Easy shapes, easy dress cut with bold colors.
I actually really like how dreamy it looks. With the design of the animals and dwarves, it almost looks like a watercolor painting come to life. I’ll applaud them for doing something different aesthetic-wise. The Snow White styling and costume is terrible. Wish they would’ve done something more ethereal and “pretty.” Disney has been physically over-simplifying their recent princesses and dressing them in unflattering and over-structured dresses. 1920/30s inspired hair and makeup styling with a more regal/ less saturated gown would’ve saved the character design
But I feel it missed the spirit of Snow White, as the only magic in the film is done by the evil queen. The cottage and the animals are based in reality, therefore more peaceful and calm. I feel the over saturation takes from the intimacy and simplicity that's a beautiful part of the story, and that directly contrasts with the artificiality and vibrant colors related to the queen.
Maybe it's not the prince. It's the huntsman. Maybe yes the prince have connections to the evil queen.
So the dwarves are just cgi now?

Snow White and the Poorly Animated CG Forest
I think the dwarves are living in a Thomas Kincaid painting. I have no particular hatred for that art style; it's just they seem to live in a completely separate universe to the Evil Queen. Is there a rip in the space time continuum between the dwarves' property and the castle? I don't expect the color and lighting scheme to be the same between a cold castle of evil, and the dwarves warm and isolated cottage. But I would hope they at least look like they belong in the same movie.

Are the “7 magical creatures” now voicing the dwarves? I wouldn’t put it past Disney to do something that stupid, they thought hiring a woman to voice Scuttle was a good idea after all! Considering the original Ursula was designed after a drag queen, Woke Disney literally had the perfect opportunity to organically incorporate a LGTQIA+ actor/character staring them in the face but were too busy race and gender swapping to realize it! I saw Queen Latifah playing Ursula on stage once and she would have been a much better choice than Melissa McCarthy, that’s a race swap I wouldn’t have minded. I honestly didn’t have much of a problem with the Ariel race swap when I first heard about it as long as the girl could act. It could’ve made sense compared to race swapping Snow White for a Latin actress considering most islands in that area are inhabited mostly by black people. But I knew they couldn’t stop there and actually predicted that her sisters would be a mix of races!🤦🏻♀️ Though I never thought they’d hire a Latin actor to be her DAD!, or infer that the daughters somehow shared a MOM! That shit’s to illogical for any rational/non-woke person to guess.
To be fair, the original Snow White was drawn as a real person with five fingers. The dwarves, however, were drawn as cartoon characters. They had four fingers and huge cartoon noses. The animals were also drawn a bit cartoonish, so the new movie is actually being somewhat true to the original.

Because apparently white people aren’t even allowed to be cast as the main role in a princess movie in which one of her defining features is her pale skin. We’ve reached a level of absurdity I’d never thought we’d reach.
