Thank you for this explanation, Yucca. It's nice to have some affirmation about the atheopagan approach which promotes acceptance of wonder without credulity. I was in prison in the South for almost 13 years, and the two extremes were severely (fundamentalist/ evangelical) Christian or utterly dismissive of religion. I had virtually nobody to share my spiritual (or intellectual) leanings with, save the occasional neopagan who was rather more inclined to Asatru, Wicca or "witchcraft", all of which seemed to entail magical thinking. To find even a handful of people who understand the desire for *some* kind of community of "religious" activity, but without the nonsense of mysticism, that cherishes critical thinking, is a lovely relief. I appreciate your continuing to elaborate, and sharing your perspectives.

Heard of Atheo Paganism, but never really looked into it. But as a Secular Humanist, I think it matters to look beyond criticisms of past traditions and deities; criticisms matter, as with what most Atheist and Humanist organisations are doing.
But we need more than that. We need community, we need mental health, we need to learn about science, we need to promote empathy and communication. And I laud Atheopaganism for taking a step to push for that. Will try to watch more content from you guys. All the best!

I loved that you said about seeing deities and myths as literal beings. This was the part that kept me from joining this path for so long! When I joined the facebook community I realised what I had been missing. Nice to meet you - I've heard your voice on the podcast and it's been great!

It won't let me edit it as it keeps freezing! I wanted to change the first sentence as it doesn't make sense but I think you will know what I mean!

I think of paganism as being naturalistic, the religion of the countryside, of nature, without the need to add the term naturalism, which also has the meaning of the scientific study of nature. I refer to myself as a pagan naturist as it still emphasises the central connection with nature, while plugging into the related meaning of naturism which entails casting off the clothes of civilisation, when not needed for protection, and experiencing nature unmediated to provide us with a visceral connection. Even walking barefoot fundamentlly changes our relationship to nature and it is very empowering to discover we are not dependent on these adjuncts. As Kahlil Gibran said in The Prophet, On Clothes “Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment…. And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the wind longs to play with your hair”.

Thank you for sharing! I'm very new to the atheopagan world but am feeling very at home. I've been looking for a belief system/practice that matched my feelings for a long time and I'm very happy to have found this philosophy and this channel. Looking forward to future videos!

I am a beginner naturalistic pagan. What book/s are suggested reading to get me on the right path. I live in a household with two norse pagans and I don't fully agree with what they believe

What a perfect demonstration of the Bible!
    Romans 1:18-25
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen."
