Seeing them live, it was hard to take my eyes of any of them. But because Saiki presence, voice and movements were so compelling, drawing in my attention until I had to see what she was doing, I came back to her performance again and again. Band-Maid has powerful synergy as a band. But Saiki knows she's the one who must - and can - focus the experience to a laser-hot pinpoint. The Band gels because of their unique individuality, love and respect for each other. Band-Maid is a joy to behold! Thx again, Ryan!
It was MISA playing that melody in the second verse while teasing Saiki for losing her shoes and being barefoot like her. You can find other live performances in which you can see MISA's bass better in that part
@@RyanMear there is version of freedome from this concert were Saiki is lost in the crowd (looses her shoes)n Miku sings the end of the song...also i was trying to sleep n you post this :P
The whole Zepp Tokio concert is huge, great mix. Some of the versions of the songs are unbeatable, for me specially Turn Me On and FATE. I think you would love this two "so groovie" songs in that version.
True story, MISA's not the only one barefoot on stage during this song. At 3:46 in your video when Saiki strolls across the front of the stage will ALWAYS be one of my favorite Saiki moments. So much confidence and power in that walk. Now, remember, she's barefoot at this point after having taken her heels off to go down to the front of the women's section at the venue in the previous song, Freedom... which you MUST find a live version of to watch. Absolutely emotional. In my opinion it was this tour-end okyu-ji during which Saiki leveled up her stage commanding presence. This is arguably one of my favorite shows from any band. The mix is awesome, the band is TIIIIIIGHT throughout, and the set list is FIRE! And yes, that is MISA playing the melody in the second verse, one of the reasons why Saiki calls her over. Now, the really important question... what is more valuable? A smile from Saiki or a smile from MISA? Both are rarer than gold and worth at least twice as much and in this video we get BOTH! ;)
the truth isn't as much fun as the myth but it should be told. you are correct in saying Saiki "removed" her shoes before going down to lean into the womans section. I have an overhead photo that clearly shows Saiki's shoes in the middle of the stage, while she is crowd surfing lol(well not really surfing, but it makes the myth more impressive) Saiki put her shoes back on during Kanami's solo. So glad I found this band and channels like yours, you understand how talented this group is it’s a once in a life time talent, and should be promoted as such, keep up the great honest reviews and go absolutely nuts at the live shows, yes I’m a jealous
in the first part of the song, Saiki walks barefoot around that stage because she lost her shoes when she was kidnapped by the audience in the previous song. During the Kanami killing solo, Saiki recovered her shoes. This concert was epic.
Sometimes I just want to comment because I agree so much with your interpretation of what they are doing. One random thing... you know they are well rehearsed when you can't find a clear "leader" who is giving the usually band cues for changes and endings (they get all of that out of the way during their rehearsals so they can just have fun on stage).
Fun fact : 3:19 Saiki is bare feet like Misa, cause she went into the crowd during the previous song and got her shoes removed ! Also, you should react to their 2016 MV called YOLO.
@@jamesredman1263 The song which Saiki lost her shoes was Freedom and for the last chorus of the song, Saiki was not on stage but it was Miku who finished with her vocal. A fan must watch.
Your comment on if that was Misa playing that high little section where she’s blocked from view by Saiki was her playing. If you watch the music video for this, they do a closeup shot of Misa playing that section. 😊🎸
I was going through all your reactions and I noticed you haven't seen "turn me on" yet. In my opinion it is one of those pieces that you have to listen to, the solo is my favorite.
Here are some more ideas for your next vids; 'Glory', 'Yolo', 'Non-fiction days' and I don't know if you've done 'Don't you tell me' yet but I'm pretty sure there's at least one you haven't had a listen yet.
Another great reaction Ryan! This being one of their earlier songs, they didn't write it, but from this live performance you can see how much they've progressed and have changed it up to make it their own. Saiki early on said that this song was the best representation of BAND-MAID. I enjoy it more when she sings in her lower register like when she does live than often in the recordings. In an interview I read, she said for the recordings, she usually sings the song with neutral emotion, but in the lives, you can tell she sings more with emotion and that engages the audience more. Again, one of those things that this band tries to do for their live "servings" that their fans will appreciate. She has really developed her stage presence so much. In another interview, the interviewer asked how she felt about being the "face of the band" and having the spotlight, because she is the lead vocal. She said she doesn't like it, and that Miku is there. She would much rather just sing. But there's no avoiding it. This band loves to share the spotlight though, and you'll see Saiki disappear into the background or even crouch off to the side of the stage at times when the instrumentalists are being featured. Her stage persona is just so cool, like the way she uses very rough, masculine phrases to pump up the crowd. It's such a huge contrast to the real Saiki who is quiet and reserved, and doesn't have many friends, loves sneakers and trains (yes she is a legit train geek).
I know of no one quite like Kanami. As a song writer usually you are usually only satisfied with your own material. But only she would credit the other writers with helping her to understand how to write a hit rock song. Like she probably didn't need it anyway. But that is her. Always finding ways to give. Love that girl.
Note in the song before this,Freedom, Saiki went into the crowd and Miku had to finish the song. Her and Misa are laughing as Saiki had lost her shoes and was barefoot just like Misa always is. This is my favorite Minho solo as well.
Saiki had her shoes taken off by the audience, that's why she's barefoot...guess she went out in the audience and they were carrying her overhead and got her shoes taken lol....I GOTTA SEE THESE GIRLS LIVE
Yeah MISA is playing it on her bass......This LIVE has everything that makes BAND-MAID so AWESOME!!...Including Miku tuning her guitar at the start!..hehe.. the Rock Star she is!..
Love this live version. Saiki is so cool on stage. Kanami is glowing with happiness as she plays her solo. Band Maid are my favorite band, hands down !
This is the best band-maid song that isn't written by mincho imo. The driving drum, the groove and the change ups and structure... this song has the most mincho-like sound that's not written by her! Another great reaction. Your facial expression tells me, "what else can I say that I haven't said already, it goes without saying that this is a cool song, but I'll listen to this again anyway cos I like it." Fine by me. 😁 Bandmaid has topped all my past flames including Lenny Kravitz, Sade and Bad Brains and Joe Satriani...(rock, jazz/r'n'b, hardcore punk, guitar instrumental). I have other favorite bands but listen to them less and less these days, and you must know what I mean. Not many artists released 3 albums that you can listen to everyday without skipping a single song. Even songs that I don't love, have at least one strong hook that makes me happy!
I have had a few people point out that the Maids did have input and were afforded changes to the provided material. Proving that they could tweak a given song to make it their own.
@@RyanMear They selected the songs as well from submissions, they weren't just handed them and told what to do. In one interview Miku emphasizes that they feel connection to those old songs because they were still involved with them. Real Existence is a perfect example of a song that obviously is one that they learned from and was a vital part of their own songwriting education. It's got much in common structure wise with later works. They even went back and collaborated with their external writers even on later albums when they felt they needed a different point of view and to help ensure that they didn't get stuck in their own ruts. It's clear from interviews that they consider the outside songwriters vital to their own musical growth. Especially Kentaro Akatsu who wrote Thrill and who they even co-wrote "Fate" and "Turn Me On" with on the World Domination album, both of which are great songs. You should do a listening party on World Domination, that album is loaded with great stuff. Besides all that, New Beginnings just has some straight up great rock songs on it. Not as progressive as later stuff, obviously, but still very good. I'm particularly fond of "FREEZER". The writers and composers they worked with were very good.
This maybe an older track..and not written by them...but man!..it's a cracker!..They make it their's...It's up in my fav's list..difficult as that is...One of their very best LIVE performance's of a track..and I love the MV also...Akane going at it like Animal from the muppets and Kanami hopping about like a frog on a hot tin roof....And the backdrop to set it all off by...nice!...And here Kanami looking over her shoulder during her solo to make sure Saiki is ready to carry on after sorting her shoes..or ready to cover with a longer solo..Saiki and MISA sharing the fun of Saiki losing her shoes and being barefoot....Not forgetting Miku taking over lead duties for Saiki while Saiki is retreaving herself from the audience during FREEDOM before this..These ladies are just a joy to behold...Long May They Reign.
2nd time lucky. Ryan i'll tell you why you're in the top 5% of reactors. I've seen reactors call BAND-MAID BAND-AID, & BAD-MAID & even Lovebites (Yes they know who they are). Reactors who run around, reactors who do nothing & reactors who use B-M as a human defibrillator just to keep them alive. Reactors who say they are vocal coaches, or singers, or musicians but don't mention the vocals or instruments, but do say how kawaii B-M's outfits are. I've even seen a reactor who said they asked us for a Rock ballad & said we sent them a Pop ballad instead for "Daydreaming", then removed all their B-M reactions from the channel. That's why you are one of the best reactors, Ryan. Thx for doing BAND-MAID :)
Did you catch the quick clip of Saike giving the finger at the end of the 1st part of the 1st verse? And yes, Misa is playing that high part up the neck you wondered about. Another great reaction video.
This is the one after "freedom" in this concert in which Saiki was swallowed by the crowd and lost her heels. I think she was wearing slippers mostly in this but wore heels back after Kanamis' solo. ^_^
Yes that was MISA playing the high part. You can see her doing it in the OMV. That's not to say it isn't Doubled in the Backing Tracks. It really the only way they can get as close to the studio versions as they do.

One random thing... you know they are well rehearsed when you can't find a clear "leader" who is giving the usually band cues for changes and endings (they get all of that out of the way during their rehearsals so they can just have fun on stage).
tuning your guitar mid-riff ... achievement unlocked.
😂
She still pulled it off that says a lot about how much Kanami sensei has taught our pigeon. Long Live the PO!
😎🙂
Sai-chan & MISA...
It would be interesting to see you do a video of what you think Band-Maid will look like in 40 years.
Yes please!!
Fun fact : 3:19 Saiki is bare feet like Misa, cause she went into the crowd during the previous song and got her shoes removed ! Also, you should react to their 2016 MV called YOLO.
I remember someone saying the crowd did find her shoes and passed them back up to her later onstage.
@@jamesredman1263 The song which Saiki lost her shoes was Freedom and for the last chorus of the song, Saiki was not on stage but it was Miku who finished with her vocal. A fan must watch.
My fave is the pigtail wag at 6:19.
Great!!!! Happy to see your work, now one for "Turn me on" live version. Saludos de México !!!!!
The bit at 2:40 where MISA glides in to Saiki is both awesome and funny af xD you can hear Saiki suppressing a laugh twice when with her xD
Man, what intensity! No one’s twiddling their thumbs in this one (not that Band - Maid are ever thumb-twiddlers…!)!!
Full on aural blitzkrieg here…!
"Just the sweetest Thing" - it's those little touches in the music and by the members that makes this a Great Band! ....Thanks and Respect from 🇨🇦
Your comment on if that was Misa playing that high little section where she’s blocked from view by Saiki was her playing. If you watch the music video for this, they do a closeup shot of Misa playing that section. 😊🎸
Really enjoy your reaction!!! I would like to recommend “one and only” and “ Awkward” live, which are gems seldom people react.
I was going through all your reactions and I noticed you haven't seen "turn me on" yet. In my opinion it is one of those pieces that you have to listen to, the solo is my favorite.
I second the selection. One of the most rocken roll song as you could find from Bandmaid.
Here are some more ideas for your next vids; 'Glory', 'Yolo', 'Non-fiction days' and I don't know if you've done 'Don't you tell me' yet but I'm pretty sure there's at least one you haven't had a listen yet.
I did get Don't You Tell Me done!
Good stuff! The screen text comments were killing me, lol!🤣 Mincho can rip my face off any time and as many times as she wants!
Ryan: I like it.
Everyone: Duh.
Note in the song before this,Freedom, Saiki went into the crowd and Miku had to finish the song. Her and Misa are laughing as Saiki had lost her shoes and was barefoot just like Misa always is. This is my favorite Minho solo as well.
goose bumps. :)
Random Maidiac: "My face!"
Mincho: "It's my face now." As she adds it to her collection.
Maidiac: "Fair enough."
Hmm..... well, the Maids do dress appropriately for serving the Many Faced God.
Waiting for Wonderland (LIVE)
By the way... awesome shirt
3:07 That melody is MISA on bass
I thought so!
That animation was fucking great... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Saiki had her shoes taken off by the audience, that's why she's barefoot...guess she went out in the audience and they were carrying her overhead and got her shoes taken lol....I GOTTA SEE THESE GIRLS LIVE
FYI, Saiki got her shoes back during Kanami's solo ;)
Kanami is a great guitarist. I really love her guitar play. Maybe Ryan is no.1 Kanamist, I'm no.2
Yeah MISA is playing it on her bass......This LIVE has everything that makes BAND-MAID so AWESOME!!...Including Miku tuning her guitar at the start!..hehe.. the Rock Star she is!..
Love this live version. Saiki is so cool on stage. Kanami is glowing with happiness as she plays her solo. Band Maid are my favorite band, hands down !
Beautiful Beasts!
Saiki and Misa 'take a knee' to each other. That is respect. Band Maid do this often between the band, They respect each other.
I'm sure you have lots to get to. Band-Maid's YOLO and Don't Let Me Down are fire....When you get a chance.
Miku and Misa just shredding during Minchos solo to there are none better than Band Maid . Long Live the Band Maid
this song where miku tone her guitar
This is the best band-maid song that isn't written by mincho imo. The driving drum, the groove and the change ups and structure... this song has the most mincho-like sound that's not written by her!
Another great reaction. Your facial expression tells me, "what else can I say that I haven't said already, it goes without saying that this is a cool song, but I'll listen to this again anyway cos I like it." Fine by me. 😁
Bandmaid has topped all my past flames including Lenny Kravitz, Sade and Bad Brains and Joe Satriani...(rock, jazz/r'n'b, hardcore punk, guitar instrumental).
This maybe an older track..and not written by them...but man!..it's a cracker!..They make it their's...It's up in my fav's list..difficult as that is...One of their very best LIVE performance's of a track..and I love the MV also...Akane going at it like Animal from the muppets and Kanami hopping about like a frog on a hot tin roof....And the backdrop to set it all off by...nice!...And here Kanami looking over her shoulder during her solo to make sure Saiki is ready to carry on after sorting her shoes..or ready to cover with a longer solo..Saiki and MISA sharing the fun of Saiki losing her shoes and being barefoot....Not forgetting Miku taking over lead duties for Saiki while Saiki is retreaving herself from the audience during FREEDOM before this..These ladies are just a joy to behold...Long May They Reign.
......I like it ..... :D love it :D
@2:40 Misa was interacting with Saiki because Saiki had lost her shoes and as you know Misa never wears shoes so they were joking about it.
That melody is Misa playing high notes on the base backed by a synth track.
Next - ackward ( live )
:)
🤔😅🤭😝oh no not again Daydreaming tragedy🤣 tragic "death note"..
Who were those fools again who were referring to "Daydreaming" as a pop ballad? I already forgot them 😂😁

@@estherbrowne2017 lol right! Shall be forgotten forever 👍
Did you catch the quick clip of Saike giving the finger at the end of the 1st part of the 1st verse? And yes, Misa is playing that high part up the neck you wondered about. Another great reaction video.
I missed the bird.. I'll have to watch for it next time!
This is the one after "freedom" in this concert in which Saiki was swallowed by the crowd and lost her heels. I think she was wearing slippers mostly in this but wore heels back after Kanamis' solo. ^_^
Is that the Most perfect rock song you have ever heard ??????? It is to me !!!!!!!! My Fav BM song of a very long list.
Part three of this concert was released on BM Prime today.
i love MISA
Yes that was MISA playing the high part. You can see her doing it in the OMV. That's not to say it isn't Doubled in the Backing Tracks. It is neigh on impossible to tell what's in there unless something breaks down, aside from something obvious, like synth parts, effects or extra vocal parts. It really the only way they can get as close to the studio versions as they do.
Three of Band-Maids CDs has the song Real Existence on it; therefore is this song their go to song?
MISA playing the hell out of her bass while messing around with Saiki.
