    Thank you for mentioning the heat in Tuxtla for those of us who are heat sensitive!

      Well, news flash, Huatulco is just as hot. LOL We love it here and would seriously consider living here as we love the vibe in this town. But, oh that heat! Both of us are struggling with it. It is a good way to get one use to cold showers though.

    The Bell Tower is very much like the glockenspiel in Munchen Germany in Marien Platz near the Haupt Brau Haus. Keep on keeping on you guys!

      Thanks Tom. It really did have a very European feel to it. Tuxtla was a great city. Don't worry, we only have one gear. LOL

    Come on, admit it Mark, SLP was expensive because of your churros! Tuxtla sounds really nice and your monthly expenses weren't very far out of the norm. Airbnb is horrible with their fees and that is a shame. Great info!

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому +1

      Well, the churros didn't help the finances Cindy, that is for sure. Yeah, the Airbnb thing is getting old, but we really haven't found a great alternative while we travel the country. And as Jerry Reed sang, "We have a long way to go, and a short time to get there." LOL

      Thanks Mike. We didn't really know quite to expect in Chiapas, but we knew that we really wanted to see the beauty that it offered. We are really glad that we went there.

    Im from Tuxtla and i am surprised about the cost of that airbnb due to the quality and location, as that is not even one of the main neighborhoods here but Im glad it worked out well for you . Hope you keep enjoying our state another good think about Tuxtla is that about 1 hour from here you can go to a colder place and another hour or so will take you to a beach.
    We have a lots of rivers and hidden treasures around.

      I think that Airbnb in general has gotten more expensive as demand has risen. The area we were in was one that we loved. It was a great little neighborhood that had just about everything that we needed within walking distance. And yes, Chiapas is full of wonderful things to see and experience. We really enjoyed our time there. Thanks for watching.

    I have been warned about those bribes/road checks 13:00 I guess it would be a good thing to keep a ''little'' extra few pesos when driving. I can hardly wait until you do a cost of living etc on Huatulco. Safe travels. ☺♥

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  День тому +1

      Thanks Joan. Now I carry a dummy wallet that has a few hundred pesos in it along with my ID and driver's license. May help to limit the amount that they ask for. The cost of living will probably drop in about 4 weeks. We have the bays trip, the trip to Zipolite and then the restaurants that will drop before the wrap up video.

      Thanks. We are amazed at how consistent the prices in some areas have remained. Now mind you we are creatures of habit, so we are utilizing Chedraui and other supermarkets. Once we settle down and get to know an area, we will really be able to better utilize our funds. She is still waiting on her next contract. She is getting approached, but nothing yet.

    I don't know if prices massively changed but I was spending 40 dollars a night two years ago in Tuxla Gutierrez at a 4 star hotel that had a pool and I got a full service breakfast every day.

      That could still be applicable. We do know that the Airbnb prices are continuing to rise and hopefully the dollar will continue to gain ground to help offset that a little. Thanks.

    The estimated $55000 per month for rent is extremely high. We rent a beautiful 3-bedroom home in a gated community in Lake Chapala for $25000.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому

      That is our Airbnb price. That includes a ton of fees on both the host and us as the guest. We know that the cost would be much less if we were on a one year lease, but alas, with our constant traveling, we aren't able to avail ourselves of these savings. That number also includes all of our expenses, food, entertainment, medical and other items. So the number drops substantially once you remove those ancillary items.

    Great job!!! I just hope people realize there is a profound difference between‘traveling’ prices and the costs of a resident, and location! And, wow! Your utility costs! Mine, at lake Chapala run around $35/mo. Of course, we’re at Denver altitudes! I’m sitting here wrapped in a blanket!😂 I had an extraordinary grilled salmon dinner yesterday at a tiny local restaurant for $230 Mx ($12 us???). It was incredible. My hip X-ray was $17 including the evaluation. I don’t speak Spanish (I’m not talented in that area). It’s not necessary here though they are genuinely excited and gracious when I try! Obviously I’m a little prejudiced towards my community! I love it here! And I’m looking forward to your videos of the area! Thanks for all you do ❤

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Debbie. You are right, there are a lot of costs that are associated with our traveling that would not be in effect when we finally settle down. And yes, location is everything when it comes to a lot of the utility costs. Low demand results in lower costs. Also knowing the right restaurants requires time. We walk into ones that draw our attention and sometimes we find gems and sometimes we pay more than we should. But it all comes down to part of our whole experience here in Mexico and we just are really enjoying taking it all in as we come across it. Sometimes a year seems like a long time, but it will be here quickly. See you when we get there.

    When will you announce where you are settling?

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому +1

      We have another two years plus of traveling and about 10 or so more cities to hit during that time. Once we have finished up the tour, then it will be time to make the decision. It will probably be in late summer of 2026. That will give us time to settle in and find a place in that location. Thanks for asking.

    Great video, thank you. Can i ask if you also carry US health insurance? We are in our mid 50s and could retire, however, the $2k a month US health insurance cost for another 10 years is really whats stopping us. Do you only carry the travel insurance?

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому

      As we are here in Mexico full time, we are not carrying any US insurance what so ever. In the year and a half that we have been here, we have spent a total of about 14 days combined back in the US. The only insurance that we will currently carry in the US is our car insurance, which we suspend for 10 months a year. When we become permanent residents and sell the car and buy a Mexican car, then that expense goes away as well. Hope that answers your question. I will be getting Medicare when I hit 65. Just in case, but no supplemental to go with it.

    3k is great for a couple, not so much if you're single. I've yet to find a single yt channel that's showing reasonable prices. Not really worth it.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому

      Yeah Annie. We can only show what it truly cost us to live, or travel, here in Mexico. The traveling part, adds a lot of expense, plus it also means that we quite often spend excess money due to not knowing the area we are in very well. There are many ways to lower the costs, it just depends on what your expectations are. Thanks for watching.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому

      Keep in mind, we would save half the rent with an actual rent and not Airbnb, and we have specific needs that are harder to meet (king bed, off street parking, hot water, fast wifi). A single person doesn't need a king bed, and you may not have a car, so no parking, right? You can easily live on $2000 a month here, and possibly less. Take a look at Mexico Relocation Guide's UA-cam channel. She's interviewed people living on less and she's done location videos demonstrating typical rents. ~Gina

    39,000 pesos for rent? You should have visited the Zona Galactica in Tuxtla 390 times, as the girls there only cost 100 pesos, for short-time. I love Tuxtla, but the ONLY thing that makes it unique in Mexico is the rock bottom cost for working girls. And you guys are totally oblivious to its main virtue...

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  2 місяці тому

      That cost is for an Airbnb, which is inflated by almost double due to fees that are added on to both the host and the guest. It has really gotten out of control, and we are hoping that there will be another platform that will begin to compete with them to begin to keep these cost more in line with standard fees. The rest of of the comment Jim is something that we would not know anything about. LOL

      Getting used to the heat does take some getting used to. But, we are 100% sold on living here in Mexico due to the people. They are the warmest and most gracious people that we have ever encountered. And it has been that way everywhere that we have been to. We will find our home here and we can't wait to see what wonderful adventures are in store for us here in this fabulous country.
