For anyone tired of buying new cables constantly, I recommend you try an Anker PowerLine III cable. I've had mine for probably more than a year now and it still works like new. And I'm not being paid to say this.
The cable for my 9 year old Samsung tablet is still in reasonably good condition, even though it has a smooth stress relief bit (it has come loose and can now freely slide along the cable, but the cable underneath isn't frayed). It's a good thing that the cable still works, because that tablet, like all Samsungs of its time, has a proprietary 30 pin port that looks just like the Apple variant unless you look really closely.
I’ve been using Apple products for the last 10 years now, and I successfully destroyed hundreds of cables. But one year ago I bought 2 m. cotton sleeved lightning cable and it is in perfect condition to this day. It was $30.

Good stuff. Well explained. There's one thing I try to consciously do in order to make my cables last, and that's to remove them by pulling out from the plastic casing, and not the cord. It's less convenient, but seems to help with my cables surviving a reasonable amount of time.
Me neither, I don't even bother unboxing the original cables anymore because they won't last as long as the phone. I just re-sell the phone with the original box, stickers and cable.

True. Oh and I can really recommend the IKEA LILLHULT ones. Best USB charging cables I had, yet. Anker "rubber" cables, Anker "textile" cables, all kinds of manufacturers' cables, but the IKEA ones beat them all. Flexible, light, neat self-storage rubber band sewed onto it, textile, cheap. Perfect. I have the USB-A USB-C version, the USB-A Lightning version and the USB-C Lightning version (yes, USB-PD / quick charging works).
@@DerKatzeSonne I see, thanks! because now I was planning on picking up a longer type C cable for my Samsung; the one in the box tends to fall short. for example, whenever I use my phone in bed, or at my desk, etc.
Yes, IKEA does have stores in my country, but I'll have to check if the cable is available. Anyways, thanks again for the recommendation

It was $30.
I’ve been using iPhones since 2014 and never had a cable break apart like in the video
If this is the case, i’m glad i chose the Anker lightning chargers for my ipad 9th gen + 7th gen when the “stress relief sleeve” had a crack and i saw electric coming out of the charger.

Good stuff. Well explained. There's one thing I try to consciously do in order to make my cables last, and that's to remove them by pulling out from the plastic casing, and not the cord. It's less convenient, but seems to help with my cables surviving a reasonable amount of time.
