I had a Sony A7II up until recently I sold it to a person who desperately needed the EVF for their manual lenses and due to his poor eyesight over the years. But I admit, when I used the A7Rii of a colleague, I noticed the upgraded viewfinder was definitely a plus. I personally hope the A7III comes with the updated EVF because I personally enjoy the 24MP sensor and the price point and I 1% of the time use video. Thanks for the videos big time.
Great thing I like about this channel is a) John doesnt have pink and purple accent lighting. b) Doesnt talk in an overexaggerated way with his hands. c) Doesnt have a backwards baseball cap. d) Doesnt say "This is your boy" e) unlike the halfwits on youtube, John talks a lot of sense. oh and f) He doesnt have stupid and pointless background music Great channel this. Keep going.
Hi can you answer me whether I should get A7ii or A6300. I used camera mainly for cinematic video, I know A6300 is really good. But, does full frame sensor help a lot in low light condition? I do have Canon 80D, now when I bought either A6300 or A7ii it would be my main camera and let my 80D as secondary.
Hey john, thanks for such a good reviewing. Do you recommend a7ii to replacement for canon 6d? Or am i prefer a7rii? Also do you recommend use canon 16-35 via adapter, or am i purchase zeiss 16-35 is better ? Thanks, best wishes.
You're welcome! :) The a7ii would be more in line with the 6D and would be a good replacement. The a7rii is a higher end camera and if you have the budget for it, would definitely a big step up from those two cameras. I always recommend going with native e-mount lenses because the autofocusing performance will be much better.
Just got this today. Upgraded from A7 and I'm happy with it. Feels more premium, love the ergonomic on M2 and the AF is way faster than the M1 even with the Sigma MC-11 (tried with canon 50mm stm). IBIS is really helpful too! Go A7ii
+The Post Color Blog (Dave's Tuts) Thank you! Its a good lens but I think I would go with the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 instead. Optically I reckon that's a better lens.
+The Post Color Blog (Dave's Tuts) Hello, I have 2 A6000 and 1 Sony A7II, on one of my a6000 i am using a LA-EA4 adapter with sigma 70-200mm f2.8, I love it focus super fast I used for auto racing and have no problem at all, also I use same combination for wedding photography and portrait, with no problems...
great video as always John! I'd like to know how can we (sony users) know wich lenses are compatible with the LA-EA3 that retain the auto-focus?! been searching online and haven't found much. I'm getting my A7S this weekend! hehe Cheers
+John Sison Hi John, I thought fast AF with adapted lenses only works with A7R II, but A7II seems to be acceptable as well. For Sony lenses withou SAM or SSM motor, do they still autofocus with LA-EA3 (but slower) or the AF is not working at all?
Hi! Im in a huge dilemma between the a7ii and a6500. I recently enter the wedding cinematogaphy, which kne do unrecommend the most between those 2 for video use? Thx
hi john.. i would like to give you credits for your reply on my facebook messenger and i have watched most of your videos to get which camera suits me on budget and purpose... i'd end up bought this camera last month and been loving it since day 1! thank you for your review and keep it up!
Hello sir I wanted to enter wildlife photography but I have a doubt of whether to buy sony a 6400 or the sony a7m2 Both have pretty good qualities but the 6400 is fast and has better fps please help me
If it's wildlife, I would probably go with the a6400. The fps and autofocus is much better. That being said, the a7ii is capable of getting the shot but it'll just be harder.
Depends what kind of shooting you want to do with it. Action photos or anything fast moving, the a6500. If you're shooting landscapes and don't mind spending more for full frame lenses, the a7ii. I would personally go with the a6500 though.
It really depends on what you want to shoot. The A7 series aren't exactly great for sports or anything fast moving so don't get expect the same autofocusing performance out of those cameras but they do excel in low light and I guess overall quality.
Nice review again, John, but to be honest, I never understand the saying "I would not push ISO beyond . It makes no sense. First of all if there is little light, your aperture is already open then there is only sloewr shutter speed OR higher ISO. And slower shutter speed results in blurred pictures which are not correctable. So higher ISO is the only real option. Or not have a photo at all. So always: Go as low as possible with ISO, but don't be afraid to go as high as the situation requires :). Second of all, high ISO noise also depends on the actual lighting situation. An ISO 100 can have more noise (due to extreme bad lighting) than an ISO 3200 shot in relatively good light ;).
+Lofote I sort of get your point, but at the same time, there are some ISOs that should never be used, no matter what. For example, ISO 4,560,000 on the D5 (or any camera): nikonites.com/attachments/d500/193652d1452282835-nikon-d500-announced-iso4mb.jpg So, "I wouldn't use any ISO above XXXXX" translates into, "Above this ISO, the pictures will look grainy to the extent that the picture will not look very good. Only use if there is no other option." Of course, if you are taking surveillance footage, you can disregard that. But if you are trying to make something beautiful, it is worth bearing that "usable ISO" limit in mind.
I had a7 upgraded to a7 ii gave up there I'm afraid went straight back to Nikon d750 to be precise far far better and not much bigger with cheaper lenses enough said..
+Shaun Hilton Not much bigger? You serious? :-D And what do you mean with "less precise"? I am afraid your commend is really messed up, please use "full stops" or at least commas so that we can actually understand what you mean :).
+Lofote Please learn to read as I haven't even used the word 'less'........ There are a few full stops here to make up for the last message.............. ,and the Nikon actually feels lighter and more comfortable. These Sony cameras are brilliant, but if any one tells me they're even half as good as a dslr I will speak up as not to get people buying the wrong gear..
"to be precise far far better" (which is not really english) has been interpreted to me as "less precise". How did you mean it? And I don't see any full stops (".") in your message except two in the end. Basically: it is very hard to read, and to understand what you mean, it should be easy to read. You agree?
+Shaun Hilton when I see someone make comments like these, it's pretty obvious you don't know what you're talking about. These Sony cameras are brilliant but not near as good as a dslr? What kind of vague generalization is THAT? So, ANY dslr is better than ANY Sony mirrorless? LOL - go troll so somewhere else!
+Lofote And it isn't vague I can't see that I can say any clearer .. I think all dslrs that I have used are way better d7000 d7100 d600 d750 d810 so that's now quite clear and the sonys are good what's wrong with me saying that? You think Sony are going to send you a nice new Shiney camera to get more biased reviews ?? Will they hell as..
People that use Sony A-mount bodies. Those include the DSLRs and SLTs. That includes the worlds only 135mm F1.8 lens with auto focus, which will only auto focus with the LAEA4. Or how about the worlds only 500mm mirror lens with auto focus? Only works with the LAEA-4. If you like long primes? If you need longer than 135mm, Sony has not made those yet. So if you want to use your 200 2.8, 300 2.8, 300 f4, 400 f4, 600 f4 with auto focus, you have to use the LAEA4. If you are a Canon user and did not buy native mount, and bought Sigma lenses instead, then the MC-11 will work fine for you. But it is useless for everyone else.
Amazing camera. I have use it over a year now, from portraits landscapes studio work and production work. It's never let me down.
+Brett Harris Yeah its a solid for camera!

I have been enjoying the a7ii since release. i feel like the a7ii and the 35f2.8 is a stellar light weight performer.
review the sigma SD Quattro!
Haha do you really want me to? If you get one hundred likes on your comment I will.
John Sison
200 likes I get to keep it!? 😂
Lol I'd say if you get 1000 likes you can keep it haha
ok deal😂😂😂
Great thing I like about this channel is

Good to hear you're enjoying your camera. It really is a good upgrade. Just holding it is a lot better!
Hi mate! What kind of picture profile are you using? Do you have a guide on how to properly expose for slog2 as well as the camera settings? Thanks.
great review. What did you think of that Sigma 70-200 OS? Ive been looking at one with the A mount myself and wondering how it performed for you.
+The Post Color Blog (Dave's Tuts) Thank you! Its a good lens but I think I would go with the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 instead. Optically I reckon that's a better lens.

Angel Guzman Thanks so much for the reply Angel. Appreciate the real world experience. I do weddings too. (video)
Thanks, also you mention video, well this lens with the adapter does auto focus with no problems.
Better choose a7ii or a6500 ?
Finally the review of the a7ii ....great work....waiting now for the gmaster 24-70
+emmanuel gio Thank you! Should definitely be up sometime next month :)
great video as always John!

+Treuze Bits Only lenses that have SSM or SAM motors built in will be able to retain autofocus.
John Sison got that info, just wanted to confirm, thanks a lot John! Keep up the great videos!
+John Sison Hi John, I thought fast AF with adapted lenses only works with A7R II, but A7II seems to be acceptable as well. For Sony lenses withou SAM or SSM motor, do they still autofocus with LA-EA3 (but slower) or the AF is not working at all?
+Bima Adi Nugroho Sylirian No AF on those lenses at all unfortunately.
I love my a7ii, good review, John! I'd like to see what you do with it and your impressions comparing it to other systems you've tried.
Haha 😃
Hi! Im in a huge dilemma between the a7ii and a6500. I recently enter the wedding cinematogaphy, which kne do unrecommend the most between those 2 for video use? Thx
nataww I have both but a6500 is better for video
Hey John, what are the primary differences between the A7 and the A7ii?
Primary differences are its design so its easier to grip and handle, you have the in body stabilisation and it also has faster autofocus.
Can i use this with 18-105 g lens sony? is there any vintage and distortion with 18-105 g lens sony in sony a7 ii?
In my country sony a7 price is about the same with a6300, i leaning toward a7. do you recommend sony a7 in 2017 for general photography? Thanks
Yeah I would probably lean more towards the a7ii for general photography.
Great review!
Thank you! :)
Amazing camera, love it and used it a lot ......
+Jess Demant Aggeboe Indeed! :D

You're welcome! :)
I'm not seeing a like option on google+

this? or A6500 in your Opinion... :)

Always a good job John...I love my a7ii..!!
+Roberto Gardella Woohoo! Yeah its definitely an awesome camera.
Does it have a flash??
+Abdel-rahman Magdi No flash on it.
+John Sison thx for answering
I love my a7II
Touch screen or not?
No touchscreen.
LOve Sony's light designs. Is the FF A& series worth the extra weight vs lighter A 6000 series?Do you get a more robust look out of FF?
Jay

Loose the LA EA Adapters ... go for Sigma MC-11
That adapter wont work with Sony or Minolta lenses.
who wants old minolta lenses
