Somebody at Konami R+D forgot to add the clause "You cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck except Fiendsmith monsters the turn you use this effect" on the archetype 😂
More likely somebody got fired for trying to add that clause.
Or just lock them into fiends.
Ever since SwoSo and Branded, yeah, the meta has been a revolving door of decks they've refused to add archetype or extradeck summon restrictions, and that's been unbelievably game warping across the board.
Like the bulk of these cards, once banned, are going to have a uphill battle getting off the list, because they're all one-card starters that let you go into anything under the sun, lol.

What’s worse is they made this set legal for the NAWCQ. So Konami expects players to pay for a flight, lodging, food, transportation to and from the airport while also investing in a case probably to get the CHANCE to have those cards for nationals. This is the dumbest thing Konami could’ve done as it’s so disgustingly unhealthy for the prize support they have to. So for me, the cost of all would be about $2400 without guarantees of having all the new fiendsmith cards. Konami punted it on the player base and as a guy who also got the invite earlier this year, all the reasons listed before is why the game should not be played and if players expose enough at nats demanding better prize support on things like stream or in mass chanting change the prize support, Konami can’t ignore that damage. Game is fun but Konami just doesn’t even care so why should the player base?
What’s the prize for the event? Game Mat and Deck Box? LOL
Why TF would you buy a whole case instead of just paying the like 40% premium of early pricing, that's like a $700 difference

Rarity collection 2 , Dragon Master Magia, the infamous "ask your friend," incident, and now a new overpriced must play engine for the fifth time over $300 really shows how much Konami hates us. Especially us old players who use the game as an escape to better times, now a lot of us have bills to pay, mouths to feed, not to mention a game that doesn't even provide proper prizing( doesn't have to be money,but quality prize support you see in Locorna is a prime example.)Either they need to get in touch with their player base or find new management that cares about the player base, rather than scalping us for our nostalgia

Wild how much the game has fallen compared to just 8 months ago when we were in a great format and Rarity Collection 1 just released.
I'd argue that post pandemic, we really haven't had great formats. Just brief interludes of fun throughout.

White woods can search The Iris Swordsoul and even special summon her since the tuners can be reborn from the gy with negated effects. That's the main (useless) reason I'm loving the archetype since i have a qcr rare one (2€ worth btw)

Konami needs to remove all locks from previous decks if going forward they want all these decks to just flow into each other. A light fiend deck meshing with fire pyro shouldnt be a thing. They really stopped caring about restrictions

Now that the link 2 Goddess has been confirmed we can safely assume that the next format will probably be one of the most expensive we ever had as literally everyone can use Fiendsmith.
Anyone could use Fiendsmith anyway thanks to White Woman Jumpscare, making White Girl Jumpscare the Super Rare isn't what would have made the new staple engine affordable to everyone. 😂

@@autobotstarscream765 No one would have made a Link 5 just to access that engine (especially considering you need another body to go into the Snake-Eye engine), but a link 2 is far more reasonable, it's a better Knightmare Mermaid through and through, no discard, no bricks, better compatability and no restrictions.
@@autobotstarscream765not just her, knightmare gryphon is a light fiend link 4 (with a floodgate effect and can recover any spell/trap from GY). There's also exciton knight (rank 4) that's a quick effect dark hole and there's a bunch of other cards too.
Small goddess is the most convenient option, but with how easy link 4s are to make (same with rank 4s and a few synchro levels too), there were never going to be any lack of options if she wasn't released.
As a Fiend player, its horrible that the Fiendsmith cards don't lock your archetype when using their main effects. At least if it locks into Fiends, it has some spot in the meta. But with it being just another Snake-Eye engine, it just makes it harder to enjoy the game.

Konami really testing on how much it takes to kill the game.
Probably like 3 to 4 more back to back tier 0 or -1 formats and that will do it.
They have essentially killed it in my region, 1 card shop out of 5 stock it and they only hold on due to being the only place in a city that stock. Konami is doing their best to kill it.

They just want to kill the TCG. OCG is fine since they can actualy afford their cards. Even Master Duel with its Bo1 shenanigans and constant but low impact banlists is in better shape at the moment(especially if you want to play Ritual Beast when the new cards come out or Sky Striker now).

Fishing has been one of the most amazing hobbies I picked up, tight lines brother! Pokemon tcg has been really fun too, quite budget and digestible interactions
I am usually not that guy but I am considering a few months break from this game until we get a better format. Wich makes me sad since my favorite deck ever just got new support in Terminal Revenge.

All that was needed was a xenolock into fiends and Fiendsmith would have been great. It would have been a great support to Yubel, Unchained, Lab, and so on to contest Snake-Eye. It would also have made impossible to go into Apollousa or Beatrice. It's a shame that instead they made it into a cancer engine, because the artwork of the cards is really cool and I liked since they were announced
13:49 I believe they were designed that way. I believe this is part of Konami’s new design philosophy: enable crazy blowout combos as consistently as they can be performed, and if players start complaining too much, we’ll limit or semi limit a card and the TCG will do whatever they want.

Konami needs to put lock in the archetypes again. Tear, Snake Eye, Fiendsmith, they're all T0 because a player can do whatever the hell they wants to do with no limits. And for godsake Sancti needs to be banned.
It's just insane you can shift from combo line to an alternate combo line with no restrictions and due to the size of all these 1 card combos you can run so many handtraps or stun cards. It's actually pretty fucked I see why people are walking away from this game.

We are waaaaaay past the point where "hitting" snake eyes helps. At this point they just need to ban the whole deck, and make the whole engine unusable, as long as any snake eyes card is in the game the format if fucked. Look at master duel, all the hits and its still the same format...
Yeah honestly as much as I hate it I feel like putting every single card in fiendsmith snake eye to 1 does very very little except for making their combo a little more fragile. Quite frankly the link 1 and flamberge kind of need to go.

Fiendsmith is just way too insane to the point where I know a lot of people at my locals have all said that they are going to take a break until it's banned. That being said fiendsmith snake eye is very clear of fiendsmith yubal to a quite considerable degree.

im so glad that Konami keeps clarifying that you have to shuffle cards into your deck/extra deck. I don't know how many times i've shuffled fusions into the main because i thought thats what i was supposed to do. Glad Konami has to be extremely specific on the card text so i don't waste my life and have to quit when i don't have 20/20 vision anymore.
So glad you mentioned summoning Formula Synchron off of the level 8. Excel Synchroing on your opponent's turn into cards like Satellite Warrior and Chaos Angel is way more interesting than another engine to make Crimson Dragon. Yes, the deck is really good at making level 12 Synchros, but outside of Centur-Ion, its just a less interesting way to play the deck that makes the combo needlessly complicated

So my Buster Blader - Kashtira recipe is at perfect timing. I set up my Buster Lock, locking them from both the extra deck and field effects, Dimension Shifter active in grave and the Kash Enginge on field slowly blocking off the spell/trap zones and ripping material with every monster effect.
Moon Goddess going into the link 1 is just full Orcust combo all over again. Any two monsters into a generic link 2 that goes into a link 1 that gives you full combo.
Those "archetypes dont need restrictions" and "Cards should be super splashable" players quiet as fuck right now.
Maybe people should understand that restrictions arent bad for YGO if they are done properly
I am very happy im just playing yugioh casually with my friends and occasionally on master duel for fun.
Feels like i can be more excited about trying the different new archetypes without getting blasted away by the top meta decks.
I'm only playing casually too, but I feel second hand burnout from all the people who play mostly in tournaments
Soul Resonator I would say is a great 1 card combo.
Limits you to specific extra deck cards, requires your normal, and has a bonus archetype supporting effect in GY.
The main thing about fiendsmith is that now everything can just negate nib with caesar if they draw a fiendsmith
White Woods Runick is definitely going to be my new pet deck
I would be pretty surprised if anything except Snake-Eyes and Yubel were serious contenders in this format. Maybe a Tenpai player with a good day.
The White Woods cards were some of the most hyped cards coming out of INFO in the OCG and were also the most expensive on release (partially due to art). However, players figured out pretty early on that they just aren't good.
Personally, as a Memento player, I do think Memento will be better in the TCG than the OCG because the current OCG plan into Maxx C is to pass and hope you draw some extenders to make your follow-up in their draw phase, but as Josh said, it's outclassed by Fiendsmith decks. The engine is slightly bigger and there are slightly fewer one-card starters while also being weaker into certain hand traps like Bystials or Crow.

NGL I was hyped to play fiendsmith with my Virtual World deck. But, if Fiendsmith manages to carry a Virtual World deck, then for sure it will be stronger in any other deck

In my testing, if you open engraver, you can just make caesar without going past summon 5, that's the best play by far if you have your combo, i have no idea why everyone wants to overextend when they don't need to. Sequentia is just in case you started with tractus or need a way to go into a way to extend your plays or even need a way to start. If you open engraver Ash, just stop at caesar and proceed with normal snake eye combo
not only all of this, but you can also make a 1 card "puppet lock" by sending rollback and mayakashi trap with the beatrice.
I dont run hand traps these days. My main is 15 go second board breakers with a side of 15 go first stun traps/floodgates. My deck then revolves around the 25 card take to try to make a kill or atleast combo into a good enough grind to win. So Ive mixed Heroes and Heroics. Heroics give me a strong OTK potential after board breaking, and Heroes allow me to Darklaw/DPE with a set 2-3. Its not the most fancy wincons, but, its consistent enough to get some cheaky wins. As for some of my favorite floodgates, Summoning Curse, and Metaverse into Summon Breaker.

It all depends from the ban list. I think as a branded chimera player (that doesn't play the puppet lock because I want the OPPO to have fun) that the lv10 fusion dragon is a great card. However Joshua is right snakeeye fiend or fiendsmith Yubel might be one hell of a problem. I don't see a ban list so complete from Konami's point of view. They have to sell but they still can limit something (and I guess, once more, that they will touch the extradeck)

@@gyppygirl2021 i think there are good "lock" that just slows you down but the ones that completely breaks the game should be banned cause there's no way out no matter the skill or the deck you have. I appreciate the fact they're reducing things like summon limit ecc so I really would like to see every card that literally stops the game out of the way.

13:05 yeah it's kinda crazy, I was thinking about doing the "Beatrice dump Ash, revive with Princess" with water monsters because of Coral Anemone. Then I remembered that Coral Anemone requires two Water monsters, whereas Princess doesn't care what monsters you use (besides effect obviously). And it doesn't even matter that one is Link-2 vs Link-3 cause you're using two monsters anyway in both cases.
Josh touches on it a bit, but I genuinely think Beatrice has needed the ban for a long time. The transaction rollback shenanigans weren’t very meta, so it wasn’t a necessary fix, but Beatrice is where the most toxic options for Fiendsmith show up. And I think that the ability for Fiendsmith to flex into starters for Snake Eye or whatever else is more of a problem than a no-normal summon 1-card Apollousa. That already exists I’m sure, maybe in a bigger package, but the fact it can be either is too much.
the only hand trap that can slow down, not beat, fiendsmith is droll as joshua says. Unless you go first and lock down your opponent. That or you need droll and 2 other hand traps to stop them

Unless I just willingly throw my early rounds, even at locals I'm not able to escape these decks since all of the top half of players are just playing snake eyes even at locals, and so long as I just try to get on low tables. I have no way of escaping this shit

If I was playing in the NAWCQ/EUWCQ, I'd be playing Runick Stun with as many floodgates as possible. The format is so toxic right now that it needs to be fought with toxicity

I feel like we cant really get out of hand traps and into a board breaker format unless they were to ban omega or dis pater, because imo if everyone was going to start playing breakers then snake eye would just go back to hand looping for 3 turn 1
I think Gimmick Puppet is also worth mentioning since OCG just has the Gimmick Puppet of Strings going limited. Meaning TCG could still do FTK.

not really. they just go to 45 and it doesnt matter in terms of consistency or non engine. they just replaye kash with Fiendsmith
