These Frieza turned good storys always feel so strange in a good way. Glad to see your take on it. I especially enjoyed that frieza became a true member of the Z-fighters, having him develope proper bonds with the saiyans just brings out so much more Emotion in his redemption. A phrase that seems to apply to this Frieza is "the more things change, the more stay the same". He is more well-intentioned and genuinely affable to people, yet he hasn't lost his mean streak. His sadism is funneled to those he finds distasteful and squeezes every time to make his feelings known through more constructive means such as battle. So he unintentionally has an healthy outlet to vent out undesirable traits.
Huh... I guess that's true. He still has his old personality and tendencies. But he has a way to vent them out. He likes to fight and if he finds someone... unpleasant (incase you're wondering. I'm making a reference. Unpleasant is the title of a chapter in the growth spurt au comic.) He vents his frustrations at the person.
This was actualy some of the best dragon ball content i have ever seen! The emotional stakes and the highly commentated fight scenes made it feel like i was watching official dragon ball. You did amazing here.
I especially enjoyed that frieza became a true member of the Z-fighters, having him develope proper bonds with the saiyans just brings out so much more Emotion in his redemption.

I *did* up until the gross mischaracterization of Cheelai. Someone who *despises* Saiyans with that kind of passion would *never* have saved Broly in the movie. And she certainly wouldn't choose to *live* with him.
@@ChefMonke07Not going to lie. I think that's part of a larger problem Masako has with writing women in general. Unreasonable anger, being condescending, and always having a chip on their shoulder about something, seems to be a universal trait for any woman Masako writes, canon or otherwise. I'm not sure how much of that has to do with his own poor attempts at a girl voice, but I know I hated them even *after* they got their own VAs.
@@tonystank3091 It's only a problem if the writing is inconsistent with the canon. He writes his male characters the same way. I mean, Nappa's whole arc in "What If Nappa Turned Good" was just him coming to terms with aging. There's also Yamcha from Revelation 'F'. His flaw isn't that he uses the same writing crutch for female characters. His flaw is that he tries way too hard to make Dragon Ball, a stupidly simple story, to have drama in it.

Crazy that Frieza stopped being evil caused a lot of other evil still appear trying to take his place. Though, it do makes sense. Just like in real life, when a tyrant or a mafia boss gets out of business, this is exactly what happens.
That was really good! A few leaps of logic, but they're small enough that they never broke my suspension of disbelief. This is a great way to have Frieza turn good. Daddy Issues Frieza is something I won't soon forget xD
I think goku is the only one who could go up to frieza and say "ey yo my wife make's great food want some" that was just great. I don't know why that was so funny to me.
Gohan vs Cell has a sizable plothole. If Cell doesn't kill Trunks, Vegeta doesn't go berserk. If Vegeta doesn't go Berserk, then Gohan never has to shield him and take serious damage. If Gohan never takes that blast meant for Vegeta without bracing, then he's still at full power and mentally ready. And that means there's no Kamehameha struggle that the others need to assist with, Gohan just shitstomps Cell.
There's a lot of potholes in this, like Frieza should be able to beat kid Buu since he was stronger than ss3 Gotenks, same with ultimate Gohan. Yet all of them including ss3 Goku struggled so hard with kid Buu when it should've been a curbstomp with 1 or 2 of them

Alright, can’t wait to see your interpretation of this bananas what if? It go in so many directions honestly. What will King Cold think of Frieza’s turning? Will Krillin live in constant fear of randomly exploding again? DOES VEGETA HIMSELF GIVE FRIEZA THE ‘Monkey’ Pass? All these questions could possibly be answered now!
MasakoX got me in on the idea of Frieza turning good stories, if he didn't, I probably wouldn'tve watched this story, Smug, you've done a great job with this one.
thinking wise, given some fanfiction from years ago (which was dumb) but with the combo of cooler wanting revenge for frieza despite disliking him, frieza would absolutely want to destroy cell if he knew he had cooler/cold's cells and was forced to team up with goku's party members at that point
@@arthurcosta1657 true, although Vegeta at first was intended to die at the Saiyan saga. however Akira decided to keep him instead. In a way Frieza and Vegeta are the same. They're murderous space pirates that enslave and take over planets. Even if Vegeta wasn't enslaved by Frieza, he still wouldn't be "good" by any means. "Good" and "Bad" are really subjective concepts to those who are and aren't In positions of power. To what what is good can also be bad. Its not in a sense Frieza would be good, he would just be demesticated rather than living their own instincts.
40:13 I thought that it was going to be "Now he had the golden glow, others had not." because of Baki quote of "I am a male and others are not." and let's just say that episode having it contained character making another character say "Till that day i had no idea of a woman inside of me.".
This is actually a pretty good what-if. Though, to be completely honest, full-story videos can take a while to come out, and thus can impact your monetization from UA-cam, unless you get that from Patreon. If you get most of your money from youtube, you could do a mix of part's for what-ifs and full stories.
This made me realize something, I think that Black Frieza and Ultra Instinct Goku were actually meant to be yin yang, with Black Frieza being darkness and evil and Goku being light and pureness
Usually I watch each What If only once, but this is my second watch and probably not my last! Just to awesome to follow their developments. Great job Smug!
I like the different take from MasakoX on this what if. His was more a, Frieza turns. "good" (More antihero if anything) but here its an actual turn face with build up. I love both takes and I like how the start and finish just mirror each other. Plus I love how the first person rooting Frieza on in the Cell fight is Gohan. He went from knocking 2nd form Frieza on his ass to telling him to kick Cells ass. Perfect... pun intended.

thinking wise, given some fanfiction from years ago (which was dumb) but with the combo of cooler wanting revenge for frieza despite disliking him, frieza would absolutely want to destroy cell if he knew he had cooler/cold's cells and was forced to team up with goku's party members at that point

In a way Frieza and Vegeta are the same. They're murderous space pirates that enslave and take over planets. Even if Vegeta wasn't enslaved by Frieza, he still wouldn't be "good" by any means.
"Good" and "Bad" are really subjective concepts to those who are and aren't In positions of power. To what what is good can also be bad. Its not in a sense Frieza would be good, he would just be demesticated rather than living their own instincts.

This was so much cooler than it needed to be, it was already 10/10 but the ending made it 100/10
This is actually a pretty good what-if.
Though, to be completely honest, full-story videos can take a while to come out, and thus can impact your monetization from UA-cam, unless you get that from Patreon. If you get most of your money from youtube, you could do a mix of part's for what-ifs and full stories.

This made me realize something, I think that Black Frieza and Ultra Instinct Goku were actually meant to be yin yang, with Black Frieza being darkness and evil and Goku being light and pureness

I like the different take from MasakoX on this what if. His was more a, Frieza turns. "good" (More antihero if anything) but here its an actual turn face with build up. I love both takes and I like how the start and finish just mirror each other. Plus I love how the first person rooting Frieza on in the Cell fight is Gohan. He went from knocking 2nd form Frieza on his ass to telling him to kick Cells ass. Perfect...
