How cute! The aunties wanted to like and subscribe. 😅 When you walked in, she asked you if you wanted bo kho with bread roll or vermicelli rice noodles. Then she asked if you wanted two bread rolls. Bo kho is made with a lot of lemon grass and so flavourful! She said it was 45k for each dish plus 5k for an extra bread roll. So yummy! ❤ Those meals are so comforting, I can understand why you keep saying it's so good 😂 Love the video once again ❤
How lovely that the owner gave the 5k tip to her deaf worker ❤ That is just tops. Really nice to see ❤ I know you go on about the beef brisket 😂😂 but when you say pho tai, it means rare beef which is the thinly sliced rare beef cooked in the hot broth. The beef brisket is cooked and then sliced. I should mention that the beef in Vietnam is Australian beef. That's why it's so good! 😂😂 We also send our top beef to Japan. She mentioned last time that the beef bones were the spine of the cow which she gave you a sample of! That is what she uses to make the beef broth. Can I just mention that dac biet means special and thap cam means combination. She said that last time but got confused because you said pho tai after she said dac biet (55k) 😂😂😂 Dac biet would also give you beef tendon balls and tripe. Trust me, it's awesome. Anyway do note, you can't go wrong with ordering anything dac biet or thap cam! 😂😂😂 The drinks menu said tra trai cay which means tea with fruit. Apologies for my long comments 😅😅😊
There used to be a fantastic little bo kho spot down on De Tham Street, I used to eat at back in 96-99. This one looks like it would be stiff competition.
Good idea to come back in that restaurant . Outgoing owner , good food and generous rations . The bò kho is oily but so satisfying , especially with the bread dipped in .
A standard 45K beef stew comes with a single roll of bread. Earlier the restaurant had asked if you woulk like 2 rolls (probably for 2 people), and you agreed. The second roll costs 5K extra.
You guys should definitely go to a Com Binh Dan place and order 4 or 5 typical family-style Vietnamese side dishes to try out. I think that would make for an interesting video, but the selection can be a little overwhelming so I don't know. Another fun one would be Bun Mam (a type of fermented fish noodle soup) because you won't be able to find a dish similar to this anywhere else. It might be an acquired taste though. Also, the com tam (broken rice dish) you guys had before was so lackluster because it was missing a lot of things (shredded pork skin, meatloaf, runny egg and some places have crispy shrimp wrapped in bean curd too). If you want to, you should give that another try but remember to pour more sauce into the rice.
Hey great idea will definitely do this video one day! Don't worry we will try bun mam, we can eat anything at all! Yeah we were just excited and the aunty was friendly so we ate the com tam and enjoyed being back in Vietnam. Always appreciate you watching and any suggestions!
Watched all your Vietnam videos and you havent tried the famous Huynh Hoa banh mi. I recommend buying one and share it between two people as those rolls are massive. Lol
Bo Kho has been around forever, like a national southern dish, but most people believe it's French influenced. Bo kho is oily because they have to fully seasons and sauté the beef in the pan before adding to the stew. Bo kho goes with banh mi, following hu tiu, a type of thin and thick strand noodles and last is egg noodles ........or combination of hu tiu and mi (egg noodles)...... pho and bun don't really go with bo kho.....next time you guys should try hu tiu bo kho or mi bo kho.
If it weren't for the french, you wouldn't be able to enjoy those delicious fresh crusty baguettes in Vietnam. I used to live in China and they have nothing remotely close. French also brought coffee/cafe culture and dairy products. Again, all things absent in neighboring China.@@EllisWR
Except for the baguette , Bo Kho has nothing to do with the French . Those ``frogs`` never use lemongrass , curry and other spices in their stews . Before the french colonization the Viets have always eaten Bo Kho with rice or wheat noodle ( Hu Tiu or Mi Bo Kho ) .
Fuck yes! That looks so damn good! I'm so jealous and unsure as to how I never found out about that! Hang five, I'll be there as soon as I can! 😉 You have to go to Bai Xep, just up the coast of Quy Nhon. The locals have an amazing seafood BBQ on the beach every night.
*Have you noticed that Southern food is a combination of Chinese cuisine, but with healthy medicinal herbs, instead of eating a lot of fat, Southerners will combine many herbs. In particular, the Braised Beef dish is combined with more than 20 herbs in the seasoning. There are many dishes that only Southern Vietnamese people know how to prepare, the only dish they don't know how to cook is Dog Meat 😀.*
@@EllisWR Southern culture does not have dog meat cuisine, we do not eat dog meat like the North, dogs are a symbol of absolute loyalty in Southern culture, Northerners coming to the South bring with them the bad lifestyle of eating meat dog. Worse still, the communist government has no law banning eating dog meat. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
