Been rewatching a bunch of mkleo sets from glitch and riptide. I've been getting the impression he plays predominantly reaction based in the first 2 games with a healthy dose of set plays to suss the oppositions skill & timing. Then in the 3rd game onwards - particularly when down - he reduces the reaction based gameplay as he seems to have the timing and intent of the opposition down. That's why his opponents seem to struggle with punishes and the narrative can drift to them choking, when in reality mkleo massively fine tunes his timing and no longer shows indecision when picking options. No doubt this leads to the extended advantage states and pressure on opponents. Ofc, some top players such as tweak can force leo to take another game or two to suss them out. It is pretty rare though.
At a certain point, mkleo's name alone creates the momentum in the 3rd game. Every pro playing him will win their first two matches, and then think "oh shit, its coming" thats part of the power of being the best in the world.

Its like he plays normally without trying. Then when he's down thats when he actually starts trying. I feel like it may be playing dumb on purpose to catch on to habits? Maybe its a strat. Regardless, his auto pilot mode surpasses others try hard mode. He's so good. Like he's lost but still the amount of consistency he's had. He is just human but he is insane at this game.
I love seeing a good Roy player, well fought Kola
There seems to be some confusion on whether or not Kola would've won if that f-smash landed. It's actually pretty complicated, but I did make a video simulating the possibilities: ua-cam.com/video/49HLQ1ZEYac/v-deo.html
I feel like Leo leaves openings to learn his opponent in the first couple games. Once he has direct hands on experience with exactly what options the foe goes for, then he goes all out on countering them.
Then, on top of that, he is able to adapt to his opponent even after they learn that Leo understands them.
Mastercraft. Best player to ever play ultimate.
That was such a good set, Kola was so close to taking it at that last down tilt. Well played by both players though.
“Like shadow falling of the ship at the end of Sonic Adventure 2” I’m done yo. Best joke this year.
I’ve been watching most majors since the launch of ultimate and honestly this might be the best set in the game, at least for me
Bro this is literally just Leo being Leo. I’m a big fan of Maister and Leo is simply a god at ultimate, whipping up on my boy’s GnW like it’s nothing. Anyone who thinks he isn’t #1 or close to it is high on something.
Got to start padding these games with dead time. I accidentally saw the video time left after Leo went 0-2 and was spoiled immediately for the end.
True but it matters a lot less for sets that go to game five, since you still don't know who's going to win the set.
That ending was depressing
Edit: I'm fine with Leo winning since I think it's cool he's winning with what I believe is a mid-tier, I was just rooting for Kola and got disappointed. Leo is still goated tho and I look forward to seeing what both of them do next!
How
@@voodooedits785 Because people work so hard to beat this guy but he always comes back, its not hype its fucking boring
@@voodooedits785 kola got the fsmash read but jank saved mkleo. Not that its mkleos fault and I love that it alwys seems to happen to him in these last hit last stock moments and allows him to finish off the reverse 3-0 (like tweek's dair in evo or elegants backair sending the wrong way)
@@voodooedits785 in ultimate certain character animations displace you, so when byleth rolled left, kola got placed in front of him so the f smash missed
@@libenhagos9335 it was not bank Leo beat kola fair and square don’t whine
That roy was amazing tho, and anyone who could beat him even more so.
Every game against leo is like when goku is fighting a new bad guy. Gets his ass kicked the first half until he unlocks his ultra instinct.
9:19 “he is not from this planet” hmmm could it be because he is from Mexico? If you catch my drift hehehe
Kolaのプレイはガン攻めだけではなく、差し合いもとても丁寧で見てて楽しい
man seluigi was still asleep in the first two matches and then his alarm rang at the third lol that's when he actually physically opened his eyes to play
So it's a rematch. ESAM PIKA VS LEO JOKER
Time to get pay back
Spoilers:
Sadly no
That was fantastic, Leo and Kola always put on one hell of a show!
Leo proves that Byleth is hype 💛
People may hate on him cause it’s a fire emblem character, but he’s genuinely fun to play and watch, solid addition to the game imo 👌
@@lonkus1290 truth!
This set will go down in the history books.
Anime Protagonist: I'm not going to use my full power right from the start of the fight.
Me: That's so unrealistic, that never happens in real life.
MkLeo: Are you sure about that?
Amazing set! Both players are so talented and so much fun to watch!
"You're gonna get another opportunity--"
"NO HE'S NOT!"
Every time Leo is down 2-0 he just goes into flow state and becomes the GOAT. Just awesome to see it happen so consistently.
I’m so happy there is more Kola vs Leo sets to watch
Leo is a showman. He knows how far away he is from the rest of the world and unlike Zero who didn’t give a F if he can destroy you he will end you, Leo wants to give the people a show because without it, it’s just gonna be 3-0’s every time lol
commentator: JV 2 is when you win with 1 stock and 0% damage on it. but in the set it was JV 3, as in 2 stocks remaining with 0% damage.
That handshake at the end was all about RESPECT! Congrats to Kola making it so far in the tournament 👏
One of the best battles I’ve ever seen. Kola was so close to win. Leo demonstrated why he is the actual champion in this game. Congratulations from Mexico to both players. I’m fan N1 of you Kola, Leo, Doom and Riddles
Kola gets 2 - 0 on MKLeo.
Me. Oh so he loses. Gotcha.
Edit* Mann. Kola actually got him if he hadn't gone from 2 to 6 without slipping into any gears in between. He played that last few seconds too fast.
between the parry & the empty hop this is some of the Cleanest defensive option select & execution I've seen in this game 1:25
I was initially skeptical that a Roy--even the world's best Roy--could put up much of a fight against Leo's Byleth but I was pleasantly surprised. Very fun matchup.
I know people like to talk about that FSmash in game 5, but can I just say that Leo absolutely rolling Kola on the last stock of game 3 was insane to see
The fact that mkleo doesn't even change to joker after losing 2 matches and still wins
8:24 "this is a one man cyphter" lmao good one EE
15:45 actually tragic
Leo plot armour
I need whatever drug leo took after game 2
lmao its too powerful
Kola up 2-0
"Why do I hear boss music?"
I finally understood: Mkleo is a boss escaped from a J-RPG. He's got a second stage transformation.
Damn. Props to both of them. Very well played
The switch is gonna over heat! Aha I liked that.
Everyone talking about that fsmash but how does Leo didn't got hit by that fair in 15:48
At a certain point, mkleo's name alone creates the momentum in the 3rd game. Every pro playing him will win their first two matches, and then think "oh shit, its coming" thats part of the power of being the best in the world.
Great match!! Two great players!!
Do yourself a favor and don’t read the comments before finishing the vid. This was one of the most exciting matches I’ve seen.
That ending was so sad man. Had me turning up the volume in the bathroom stall and everything
This one was a war Jesus, quality content Kola, Leo or Marss games always get me
This is Leo who is a man of comeback from 0-2. But last game is insane. Kola's mentality is also beast.
10:05 you can hear game 4 Leo starting up
I dont know what plot armor are the people talking abour this is skill and practice.
