Biggs had been a flamboyant Olympic super heavy by the time he fought tyson drugs had already robbed him of his skills and ability.he was winning this fight but credit to Gary who was a very powerful and strong fighter he ko"d him.God rest Gary's soul in heaven a fine man.and Biggs is a great man to this day a man of class and dignity to the fool who said no one knows who he is and he buys scratch cards, well I'm in England and I know who he is
Biggs actually lives in my neighborhood here in philly and im pretty sure hes broke. I see him in the corner store buying scratch offs all the time. no one even knows who he is.. pretty sad
Two points here for me: 1.) Biggs didn't have the heart or the body to compete with Tyson, Holyfield, or Lewis in that era. I would guess his well documented issues with alcohol and drugs caused that. 2.) That really looked like he took a dive.
Mason was another heavyweight that Terry Lawless 'overprotected' to an almost shocking degree. He was a big strong guy with a good punch, but his record consisted of journeymen and washed up Americans. Aside from Lennox Lewis (who easily beat him after only 15 fights) Biggs was probably his best opponent.
Proper fella and an hard dude Gary, RIP fella great memories.
It’s so sad how Gary Mason died. So bizarre. Just a split second difference in timing and he’d still be with us.
Miss these days with Harry Carpenter on the BBC!
Gary will never be forgotten 😢😢
