Hi Mark, I use the same iron but I bought it second hand, I use the old trick of putting a slither of the covering material on the sole plate, if it instantly shivvels up it's too hot etc. I've never seen that little wire stand before I'll have to bend one up. Nice review, new sub. 👏
The thing with IR thermometer is that you have to adjust the "emissivity" constant on the thermometer for the material surface you're measuring...
My son bought me this iron for my birthday. I must admit it took some getting used to compared to my old one.
Thanks for the comment, hope you got used to the iron and liked it, still using mine and realy like it
Please elaborate because it doesn't currently make much sense.
Very good video and well explained. I have the same iron and I'm very pleased with it.
Hi, thanks for the comment, its appreciated
Thanks for the review, very helpful! 👍
Is there anything you have to do before using it. ie clean the surface plate or heat it to a certain temp for a certain time?
No, just use straight out the box

Great thanks, sometimes the factory puts a barrier on stuff for transport or if they dont know how long it will be in storage for before first time use.
I just bought one and it says on the box, to use it with the sock on, that seems odd to me. Do you use it with the sock on ?
I used to use with a sock, but found it better without, giving a more positive feel 😀
Hi, could you help me. An error message Er2 is appearing and the Iron is not heating. What I need to do to solve this problem?
Sorry to hear of your issue, but I can't help I do not know what the probelem is, I suggest you return it to the shop you got it from. Hope you get it sorted
Is the top of the head plastic? A few amazon reviews are saying the it snaps near where the neck is.
I think it probably is, but it is very strong, doesn't even flex, can't imagine what you would have to do to break it, certainly not an issue with this iron
these things have doubled in price. I seen these locally at a woodworking store. same exact iron but done up with their brand name. they use them for putting veneer on wood. even amazon want's $69 for these things. the day of getting a Hangar 9 iron for $29.99 are long over. Horizon hobby doesn't even sell irons anymore. so, we're all forced to pay $70 for one
I did the video several years ago, so I am not suprise
You can stll buy them reasonably in the UK, they are £30-35, so $40-45
