The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com
how can one be so focused like these guys for 16 min, crazy to watch already
if you watch the mexico's longenst stage its insane
+joao soares *longest
Co-driver is the star of the show
indeed ! teamwork. crazy to watch. he can not skip a single curve
i agree the Co-Driver is awsome! i wonder how many red bull's he drank to talk that fast for that long
Co-driver, co-star. I must be missing some details about your logic, as I can't see how the co-driver is the star instead of the driver. Maybe it's all about your experiences: you know what it's to read complicated stuff as fast as possible, but you never experienced something similar to rally driving (not even in a videogame, I mean).
@@scottis1741a If you think this is fast talking you shall find som vids from Carlos Saints era and listen to Luis Rodríguez Moya reading notes in fkn fast spanish :) ua-cam.com/video/bI-YSlkoVpM/v-deo.html
@@zwjna If you don't have a good co-driver, you can not go this fast, period. The co-driver gives you all the pace and info coming in by just tenths of a second. THAT is why in a stage like Ouninpohja, co-drivers are the stars. Putting the performance in a balance, it's 75% co-driver and 25% driver.
Great drive from Meeke, and that's an ace co-driver! Who else has driven part of this stage in DiRT Rally? :)
I was recalling all of the corners i've fucked up in that game that i recognized, but Meeke beasted it all
ardenn234 Then again, the bumps and crests in Dirt Rally is much more pronounced.
I specifically recall that in Dirt Rally, the fast part right after the yellow house jump is a bunch of bumps and crests and jump maybes, whereas in this video, I didn't hear that much crest and jump maybe call for that part.
But still, no excuse for me.
Mingwei Zhang yeah neste is fucked up in dirt rally as we can see
@@SparkySlow they exaggerated too many jumps. That would have been the best location on the game if the jumps and bumps were more realistic.
coexist3583 and they Say the tracks are handmade, i dont know what this impose but they definitely don't have anything in common with the real tracks, in P cars tracks are scanned therefore they're 100% accurate how hard was for Codemasters to do same thing
I watched this to fall asleep..rally has become the air that I breathe
new respect for co drivers!
Rewatching in March 2024 just as they announced that this stage will run once again in the exact same format 🚀
5:10 "Don't cut it this time"
Meeke: *still cuts... 😏
Absolutely crazy
Crazy that to understand the beauty of the pacenotes we have to watch the video at 0.75X speed. Insane
That's what you need. A co-driver that tells you not to push and pull it back a bit, when you are taking to much risks. Also. Awesome directions. Very impressive.
I can't stress how important your pace notes are Great team work & control.
and my wife can't understand ( go left at the light ?
Phew!! I need a strong cup of tea after watching that!
3:30 Holy 💩!! What a section! 😳😳😳
Great pairing these two. Thats crazy notes ( that you can actually follow) be kudos to you guys.
Fantastic, looking forward to seeing the action in Wales!
I cannot wait to see the 2017 spec cars going through these stages. Please give us an on-board of the fastest time after the 2017 Rally Finland.
3:51 These two guys like to take close up shots! :O
Thanks for sharing!
06:49 left turn....you can feel the G from the co-drivers voice
I just don't understand that why you need to show the boys inside for 10 seconds every minute. After all, they always look exactly the same, but as long as we look at them, we don't see further exciting parts of the stage. In this case, for example, since it was a 16 minute video, 16x10s, that is, 160s. Almost 3 minutes. Anyway, exactly 1/6 of the stage. And that damn lot :(
Yeah, by the way, what we saw from it was brutal, incredibly fast and so can be dangerous this stage.
Increíble 😲 velocidad pura 👌
superb. They do amazing job!! so precisely.!!
would love to see his foot work.
Superb!
Somewhere in here is a seriously quick rally driver...He just needs to stop crashing all the time!
Edward Hunter He crash all the time because he isn't fast enough...
***** What?
Meeke (also latvala, neuville, tanak, kubica) keep pushing all the time to reach ogier level, while seb can beat them going at 90% of his speed. So they crash all the time and seb win Championships.
Ah, that makes more sense...To crash you have to be going at a certain speed, the way you initially said it made it sound like Meeke was driving really slowly and still messing up. Latvala does not have this excuse, but Meeke, Kubica, Tanak and Neuville aren't in a VW Polo, I think that might also be why they are making these mistakes in worse cars.
Edward Hunter Loeb have almost won the monte with a bad car?, it depends, it seems the vw got a little bit more but not that much more, i think the worst cars are the hyundais and fiestas but between citroen and VW is much closer than we believe.
The problem is Ogier, and the fact that to beat him you need new faces, from the current drivers i think Neauville is the only one who maybe one day would challenge him, but Sordo, Latvala, Ostberg, Evans and a couple more have shown that shamely they don't have the potential and i prefer a team to cut a driver than a driver who make a team retire for lack of results, like as happened in Subaru for example.
Just little over 4 months left before you can experience this again!
Awesome drive, thanks for the upload. Is there any chance we can see Latvala on a stage?
flawless driver + navigator
Amazing......
Serait il possible d'avoir Sebastien Ogier en caméras embarquée ?
I much preferred the view where the camera was mounted on the back of the roll cage looking out through drivers and windscreen showing actual driving and track ahead. I realise the way it's done now you get a more adrenaline fuelled ride but it's nice to see the driver and the track.
exactly!
This is seriously "SICK" in all of its positive meaning.
1080p in 60fps please !!!!
you are the pro of that situation
lol
I counted about 7 moments where even a slight error could have ended in a big accident.
The co-driver was almost as good as James May in the Bentley GT
a part of this stage is in dirt rally but it looks totally different and much wider :/
У них в чёртовом лесу дорога лучше чем у нас в центре города!!!
Awesome.
On tuo kyllä uskomatonta että pitävät nuo (rallikilpailijat) autonsa tuolla puitten välissä noissa vauhdeissa =)
i miss the cam angle between the drivers
Sebastien Ogier onboard please !
THAT..was cool !
why not latvala.
view of lookout from phone of andriod is the eye or driver
Next Eminem? 1:34
Anyone know what camera is being used and transmitter?
I get carsick from reading while on a flat road going 70kmph, I can't imagine doing this professionally under these conditions.
Same here ..
The captions are hilarious
Do the officials have to look over the pace notes at the end of the stage?
No.
No. If you're referring to the bit of paper that Nagle hands over then that's a time card.
Oh okay, thanks
Question what is the difference between crest and overcrest
Well a crest is just what it is... A crest. Overcrest is if you have something while going over a crest like "100 crest, 50 brake 3 left minus overcrest" basically means you have a crest after 100 meters, and 50 meters after that crest you'll have a left corner that happens while going over a crest.
that was intense!
80!!!
fantastico
神だ。
What are "plus" and "minus" after the pacenotes?
+Májer Tibor I think it indicates grades of the turn. So a 6L is a gentle left, whereas a 6L+ is slightly sharper but not sharp enough to be called a 5L. But every team has their own pacenote standards
+skunkworks951 Thank You for answer!
+Májer Tibor I was wondering what those meant as well. I think it indicates if a turn is uphill or downhill like the elevation change during the corner. So like 3R+ is an uphill right turn. I'm just guessing tho, I could be way off. When the notes start coming fast it's hard to keep up watching on my screen, nevermind actually flying past those trees inches from disaster. Nerves of steel
What is overcrest and under crest
FreerunNation HD over crest is when there is a little hill and the driver can't see what's behind it.
He never says under crest :D
It's very difficult to understand the pace
who wouldn't pay 1,000+ to take a ride with him over the same route " i know i would pay more than that if i could go for a flatout ride with Kris Meeke
When I watch a Group-B onboard then I can see at least 10 times more fans along the road lol!
Máté Ágoston then again, back in the day, safety is a joke you tell at the pub.
is this stage on wrc6?
brownie tito wrc 6 is a kikoo game for noob
play dirt rally or dirt 4 it's better
I mean, pace is good, but Paul keeps falling off on some parts, that makes Kris brake early; wonder if those little mistakes made him crash so many times.
Check out Solberg - Mills Ouninpohja... THAT one is pure rhythm. =)
He was realy fast. But cruchible.
Instructor seems nervous and i think he doesnt trust the driver
Biggest balls ever
Breatheless
onboard latvala
Alejandro S Watch it on WRC+
Tor Andre Børresen thank
this car needs more HP
***** in 2017 will be 350. (or in 2016...)
Spectre15rus .... 380 ;)
Morten B they did improve the HP but the onboard video quality is horrible
Dorian Rees its actually worse than 360p idk how they accomplished that
like
god every time I see these the co-driver sounds like they're about to shit themselves xD You'd think they'd be used to it by now.
F1 is for boys, rally is for men 🤭😁
Anti samir guy mode activated
