As NBA All-Star Chris Paul prepares to add published author to his long list of accolades, releasing his book Sixty-One on June 20th, CP is sitting down with Ryan, Channing and Fred for a in-depth conversation covering decades of playing the game he loves, relationships with teammates, memories of Kobe and the meaning of family starting with his grandparents, parents and now as a husband and father to his own children. Opening up and sharing never-told-before stories and reflecting on a journey of creating a unique life and legacy that has allowed him to be proud of the man he is today on and off the court.
A future first ballot hall of famer, CP’s storied basketball career from Wake Forest to the NBA to Olympic gold medals to being a 12x All-star to leadership as union President to trailblazing the fight against social injustices while creating a legacy far beyond the court, truly makes Chris Paul one of the most impactful athletes of our time.
Opening up about these moments, sharing how he’s celebrated the good and learned from the bad, dealt with the heart aches of loss, injury, trades and the passing of his friend Kobe Bryant, Chris doesn’t shy away from answering tough questions and setting the record straight on rumors over the years and giving us a court side seat to his 18+ years of evolving as a man and teammate to earn the respect and carry on making the name on the back of his jersey one we will never forget.
Reflecting on childhood moments that helped shape him as the man he is today, Chris emotionally remembers the strength and work ethic he learned at an early age from his grandfather who he tributes so much of his growth and success to. Scoring 61 points after his grandfather’s passing in his honor seemed serendipitous to the story of family and the foundation he would continue to build upon as his career and life evolved. Recognizing how fortunate he was to grow up with both his parents and maintain a close bond, Chris has prided himself in always being a hands on dad and takes that job the most serious and with the most joy.
And of course Channing couldn’t let CP slide without asking him about the infamous Banana Boat photos that surfaced years ago…definitely don’t want to miss this one!

Back to the Chris Paul thing. To RC and CP: you dont know how deeply your life experiences have touched me as a mother of two BM in their 20's. Your decency, integrity, vulnerability and transparency as men, fathers, husbands, sons, etc means there is hope for all our men. Your faith in God.
Your audience isnt just men or athletes. I am a faithful viewer and I appreciate what you all are putting out into the world. I wish the man I love were like you all. I've been engaged to him 2.5 years but leaving him tomorrow. I have to just walk away. Seeing you all only confirms for me that there is a better man out there waiting for a lady just like me to love, support, respect and honor him while we watch Pivot together.
I wish you all would do a few more shows on the abusive men; mentally, emotionally unavailable men we spend our lives supporting in hopes of their transformation to better men. 'robert clayton' is not my name....its my daddy's name. I use it to keep him on my mind and to honor him.
    Keep blessing us.
    J

But it is interesting how life lessons transcend all boundaries. We could all learn from these podcasts! Congratulations! I really enjoy listening to y'all! ⭐🌟⭐🌟✨

I had the privilege to do some of the work on chris' house in Lewisville nc. The builer, johnny williford was a long time employer of the trim company i worked for. Mr. Williford builds some of the most beautiful homes in the area.
I was told for almost 5 years we would be trimming his house out and i was so excited at the possibility to meet chris, as he has always been one of my favorite players. You always pull for the home town hero. Unfortunately i never got to meet him.
I also did dome work on his grandmothers home by Winston Salem state, years before working on his home.
I hope chris gets a ring before he hangs em up.

As always, I enjoyed this episode of The Pivot Podcast but this one means so much because I'm a New Orleanian who will always love Chris Paul and his family. Although there are many reasons for my feelings toward Paul and his family, these are the primary three: 1) he always gave his best for Hornets/Pelicans fans; 2) he treated my niece - who is currently 18 yo - and her kindergarten classmates to a Target shopping spree - which she remembers to this day and 3) when he left the city, he showed his gratitude by leaving a few "Thank You" billboards around the city. The third reason made me cry...seriously, I was riding on I-10, the day after the announcement was made of his leaving the city, and looked up and saw his "Thank You" sign; burst into tears....real talk!

I fill the same way Chris Paul the Pandemic 😷 showed me a lot when it came to real friends. Some people I keep at a distance now. Some of us lost loved ones & I’m like Chris if someone ask of me to help out for any reason I’m there, but when I had a loss the people that I thought had my back & I’ve stepped up to the plate for wasn’t there for me & I understand we were in a pandemic 😷 but didn’t take the time to even send a sympathy card in the mail not even a follow up phone call. That rubbed me the wrong way so now when they have event, birthday 🎂 etc.. I don’t acknowledge it at all. Sometimes people take your kindness for weakness, but one thing I’m good at as well is leaving people alone.
