Georgia has the capability to be #1 but listen to Kirby talk, his guys are all over the map with their performance this year. It's just a question if Georgia can get it together and play together. If they gel, then they are dangerous. Ohio St. isn't out of it, they got punched in the mouth over and over at Autzen but they are a resilient team. If they keep growing then they can beat ANYBODY this year. Texas's O-line was shell shocked in the first half and let up 23 points but they found themselves in the second half. They are likely going to get a rematch just like Ohio St. in the SEC championship. Bottom line there are 4 teams that have the rosters and coaching staffs to beat anyone this year and it's pretty much what we thought before the season starter. I don't understand the logic every week for this ranking that even though we know a big 12 winner will be in the final 12 we aren't putting them in the ranking now, but also we are putting a G5 rep in the ranking at 12 spot because we know the best g5 team will be in the 12 team playoff. Either g5 rep and big 12 projected winner should be in the projections or neither, but doesn't make sense to have just one and if it is only one the power conference rep should be the one.

I know that the guarantees are in place, so I feel what you're saying. The SEC is a different beast though. From top to bottom, overall, they are getting stronger.
I understand before the season starts they may rank the teams where they "Think" they should go but when the games are actually played wins and losses need to matter. The 6 ranked 7- 0 teams should be ranked 1 thru 6 how ever you want them. Then 6 - 0 then 6 - 1 etc... At some point we have to get away from what we "Think" a team is and look at the record. If you are not your conference champion you dont get a shot at national champion. We dont let someone who lose the NFL AFC or NFC championship game go on to the superbowl just because we feel they would play a better game against said opponent.
