Because African music is meaningful. It's like poetic compare to hip hop music. The reason hip hop, rap, and R&B African people don't valued is because African music, culture, and everything else has to be clean and poetic while in the West is completely different.
You couldn't be more wrong. Those forms of music permeate most of Africa. Even Ethiopia, one of the more provential countries, has their form of rap, R&B and hip-hop. With the exception of Bob Marley and Congolese Rhumba music which is all over, each country has their own contemporary and traditional music, plus Black American popular music. Hip-hop is huge Continent wide. You don't know music until you've heard Hip-hop beats with rapping in native languages.

I wonder in there is an airport, cars to hire, hotels, restaurants etc. Harar is huge in my bucket list

Yes, Ethiopians are very friendly & welcoming people. Amazing how you still remember Amharic words. Have you read the book 'Cutting the stones' written by an Indian who was born & raised in Ethiopia? Although it's a novel, it really depicts how his family lived in Ethiopia. I think he is now a medical doctor in the states.
