This is also exactly what USA hockey and Hockey Canada are going to create by trying to force players to play the puck while making a hit. It will do exactly this and create dangerous hitting positions that will cause more injuries and still result in penalties. This is exactly what they want though, because it’s just one step closer to banning hitting entirely.

Idk about a long suspension. He’s had a lengthy NHL career and has no history with the league’s PSA. I could see him getting a game for this but with no injury and him not being a repeat offender, I couldn’t see how they would give him any more.

That wasn’t an intentional knee. Lee reaching for the puck, after he extended and try to return back, he had no where to go and lost balance. Lee is not that good of a player anymore so he couldn’t keep his body correctly positioned after reaching for the puck
@@PolyCX30rewatched it a few times, all I see is Lee missing the poke check and then extending his knee afterwards as Hischer starts to move towards the neutral zone. Lee not being as good as he once was doesn't take away from the fact that he intentionally extended his knee to take Hischer out. I therefore, respectfully, hold my position on this being a blatant knee on knee hit.

He knew and was ready for the obvious response that was coming. You’re acting like meier starting hitting him out of nowhere or before he was ready. Everyone knows the fight is over once the players hit the ice. There’s no excuse for lee to keep throwing while timo is on his back with the refs on top of him in a defenseless position other than the fact that lee was upset at the game/what he just did and decided to take it even farther.
@@buttkick22 The knee is irrelevant. A player comes flying at you to fight and a fight barely happens before they fall down, I don't mind a few extra shots. I mean people act like there should be no emotion in the fights. That's not how it works. Now two guys have a long battle of fisticuffs and get it all out on their skates, I'd rather not see any extra shots. But getting in some extra nuggies on the ice is something that's always been there.
Lee has been an embarrassment for the last 3 season and shoulda had the C taken from him 3 years ago ! As an isles fan I hope Lee is done for the season and for his career ! Trade him, release him, let him go do his community outreach somewhere else cuz he sux at hockey !

That's one instance where just dropping the gloves is warranted. .blatant knee by Lee..I don't like the instigator and I definitely don't agree with the misconduct either timo did exactly what he was supposed to do..I get the league wants a fast paced ,more safe game but its really getting soft for a full contact,fast as shit, fighting allowed sport..I don't like fighting with shields on nor fighting with helmets on great way to destroy your hands,break knuckles and ffingers.I like the old rules where if you had a shield and fought you got a minor penalty and before throwing hands both combatants took their helmets off out of respect for the other not destroying their hands as aforementioned. I also get the league prioritizing safety and worrying about concussions but its literally fist fighting if they want to take their helmets off or they just pop off then so be it. Its extremely rare that an injury occurs that way and I'm sure the players wouldn't mind it either part of job description..

As an Islanders fan, I’ve never seen Lee do something like this. Obviously a dirty play but not from a dirty player. I think emotions have just boiled over for him because of how the club has been playing for the last two weeks. Still, you can’t take your anger out like that.
Unrelated to this specific incident, fights after hits/collisions where a major penalty is called should never have instigators called and fights after clean hits should always.
Stupid idea. How many dirty hits are missed by the refs. Answer: A lot. So to automatically hand out an instigator just because no penalty was called is dumb.
